Description

A square-topped tablet with rounded upper corners stands on a wide ledger that runs forward from it to cover the plot. The tablet face is worked to a coarse pitched texture while the ledger is taken to a mirror polish, both in grey granite.

Pitched Tablet on a Polished Ledger

Pitching a whole face by hand is the opposite discipline to polishing one, and here the same stone gets both. The tablet is pitched with a hammer working away from the arris so the rounded corners keep their line, while the ledger beside it is ground and buffed flat enough to hold a reflection. The two are cut from one block so the grey reads the same through both finishes.

A ledger covers the plot, which is why this suits a lawn section that permits full cover, a cremation plot or a family grave already set out. It sheds rain and needs no planting. The whole footprint has to sit dead level or the ledger will hold water. Burial authorities differ on full ledger cover more than on anything else, so check first.

A Ledger That Covers the Plot

Eight weeks. The ledger is ground and polished before the tablet is pitched, because pitching throws coarse flakes that would score a finished polish, and that order cannot be reversed. The rounded corners are worked last. Wording is cut into the polished ledger rather than the pitched face, worked to order, and both reach you uncut. Our main studios are in the UK (Birmingham) and Dubai, with additional global workshops. Around 1,074kg in two pieces, set with a gantry onto a level prepared pad.

Full ledger memorials sit at headstones and memorials; by stone, look at granite headstones.

Production Time

Every sculpture is handmade to order by our artisans — we do not mass-produce.

  • Standard sculptures: approximately 3–4 weeks from order confirmation.
  • Bespoke commissions (custom sizes, finishes, or fully custom designs): approximately 5–6 weeks from design sign-off.

Production time is separate from delivery time.

Free Worldwide Shipping

Shipping is free worldwide on every sculpture, regardless of destination.

  • Sculptures under 50cm — shipped by air freight. Typical delivery 1–2 weeks after production is complete.
  • Sculptures 50cm and above — shipped by sea freight. Typical delivery 6–8 weeks after production is complete.

For larger sculptures where faster delivery is needed, air freight is available at additional cost — contact us before ordering for a quote.

All sculptures ship in reinforced protective crating, fully insured to purchase value.

Delivery to Your Address

Delivery is to the door or curbside at your shipping address.

For larger sculptures shipped by sea freight, the carrier will contact you in advance to arrange a delivery window. Please ensure someone is available to accept the delivery and that the property has suitable access for the size of the piece.

Once the sculpture arrives, you are responsible for positioning it in its final display location. For larger or heavier pieces, we recommend arranging two people (family, friends, or a local moving service) to help with placement.

International Orders & Customs

For orders shipping outside the United Kingdom, any customs duties, import taxes, or local fees at your destination country are the responsibility of the customer. These charges are set by your local authority and are not included in our shipping cost.

30-Day Returns

We accept 30-day returns on sculptures in original condition and original packaging, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

To start a return, contact us within 30 days of receipt. Return shipping for change-of-mind returns is at the customer's cost.

Bespoke and custom-commissioned pieces are non-refundable once production has started, as they are made specifically to your specification.

Damage in Transit

Every sculpture ships fully insured. In the unlikely event of damage during transit:

  1. Report the damage within 48 hours of delivery.
  2. Provide clear photographs of both the damage and the packaging.
  3. We arrange collection and either replacement or full refund at no cost to you.

Lifetime Guarantee

Every sculpture carries a lifetime guarantee against finish defects under normal display conditions, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

This covers manufacturing defects, premature finish degradation, and structural failures under normal display. It does not cover damage caused by accidents, misuse, inappropriate environments (for example, an indoor-only sculpture placed outdoors), or modifications made after delivery.
