Peach Graded Horseshoe Back Acrylic Armchair, 77cm, front view showing continuous curved frame and seat on a plain white background.
Peach Graded Horseshoe Back Acrylic Armchair - 77cm $4,25200
Description

The back and the arms of this armchair are one continuous rail. It rises behind the sitter and sweeps round both sides into arm rests without a break, in the manner of a horseshoe chair, and a short curved back panel hangs just under it at the top, leaving the space below open down to the seat. The colour is graded through the whole chair: peach at the crest of the rail, thinning down the posts, colourless by the time it reaches the floor.

One Horseshoe Rail Serving as Back and Both Arms

A rail that has to be a back and two arms at once is bent in one piece, and the crest is where it is won: the curve changes plane twice between the middle of the back and the front of an arm, and acrylic bent through two planes will craze at the tightest point unless it is worked slowly and evenly heated. The back panel is cut to fit the rail rather than the rail to the panel, since the rail is the piece the eye follows. Both are cast with the grade already in them, which is the only way to keep the colour continuous where the panel meets the rail; a sprayed grade would show a step at the joint the first time light came across it. The chair is finished as one object once assembled, not as three parts brought together.

A horseshoe chair reads as an object from behind as well as in front, which is what makes it usable at the end of a table, in a bedroom or as the one occasional chair in a room where everything else is upholstered. The grade means it holds colour at head height and disappears at the floor, so it does not crowd a small room. At 77cm the crest sits above a dining table top. Give it space behind: the rail is the reason to buy it and it is best seen from the back.

Grade Direction, Back Panel Shape and Ordering for a Table

Time separates the two: a bespoke commission takes 5–6 weeks, a standard piece 3–4. Grade direction is set at order and can be turned over so the colour gathers at the floor instead of the crest. The peach is offered as an amber, a blue or a smoke, and a colourless chair is available. The back panel's shape is open: it can be deepened into a full splat or kept as a narrow band, and a seat pad can be fitted in leather or a fabric of your own. Seat height is cut to whatever table the chair is going to. Each chair travels assembled in a fitted crate, sleeved at the crest, and is a two-person carry through a doorway. Where a set is wanted, give the number at order: the chairs are then tinted together and the grade holds even down a table. Our main studios are in the UK (Birmingham) and Dubai, with additional global workshops.

A horseshoe rail sweeping round into arm rests belongs with our indoor sculptures; peach that clears as it descends leads to our art furniture, and an occasional chair seen from behind joins our acrylic sculptures.

Shipping & Returns

Almost every sculpture at Giant Sculptures is handmade to order, then shipped worldwide free of charge. Below is everything you need to know before you order, and what to expect after.

Production Time

Almost every sculpture is handmade to order by our artisans — we do not mass-produce.

  • Standard sculptures: approximately 3–4 weeks from order confirmation.
  • Bespoke commissions (custom sizes, finishes, or fully custom designs): approximately 5–6 weeks from design sign-off.

Production time is separate from delivery time.

Free Worldwide Shipping

Shipping is free worldwide on every sculpture, regardless of size or destination. Standard delivery is by sea freight, typically 6–8 weeks after production is complete.

Express air freight is available on request at additional cost, with delivery in up to 10 days. Ask us before placing your order, or straight after, and we will confirm the cost for your destination.

All sculptures ship in reinforced protective crating, fully insured to purchase value.

Delivery to Your Address

Delivery is to the door or curbside at your shipping address.

For larger sculptures shipped by sea freight, the carrier will contact you in advance to arrange a delivery window. Please ensure someone is available to accept the delivery and that the property has suitable access for the size of the piece.

Once the sculpture arrives, you are responsible for positioning it in its final display location. For larger or heavier pieces, we recommend arranging two people (family, friends, or a local moving service) to help with placement.

International Orders & Customs

For orders shipping outside the United Kingdom, any customs duties, import taxes, or local fees at your destination country are the responsibility of the customer. These charges are set by your local authority and are not included in our shipping cost.

If you have questions about customs for your specific country, contact us before ordering and we can advise on typical charges for your region.

Returns

Where an order qualifies, we accept returns within 14 days of receipt, in original condition and original packaging, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

Because our sculptures are made individually, most orders do not qualify. Returns do not apply to any item that is not held in stock, is made to order, or is custom or bespoke.

To check whether your order qualifies, contact us within 14 days of receipt. On a qualifying return, return shipping is at the customer's cost, a 25% restocking fee applies, and original shipping charges are not refunded.

Damage in Transit

Every sculpture ships fully insured. In the unlikely event of damage during transit:

  1. Report the damage within 48 hours of delivery.
  2. Provide clear photographs of both the damage and the packaging.
  3. We arrange collection and either replacement or full refund at no cost to you.

Lifetime Guarantee

Every sculpture carries a lifetime guarantee against finish defects under normal display conditions, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

This covers manufacturing defects, premature finish degradation, and structural failures under normal display. It does not cover damage caused by accidents, misuse, inappropriate environments (for example, an indoor-only sculpture placed outdoors), or modifications made after delivery.
