Pale Blue & Gold Pastel Faceted Gem Acrylic - 78cm $3,12000
Description

A tall upright acrylic sculpture cut into many shallow planes rather than a few deep ones. The film on it is the unusual part: it is soft in colour, so instead of returning jewel colours across its front it returns pale blue, aqua and a soft gold that shift into one another as you cross in front of it, between deeper violet faces down either side. The effect is closer to mother-of-pearl than to a cut stone, and the front stays light in tone from top to foot, with one face low on one side left almost clear.

A Pastel Film Needs a Quiet Ground

A pastel film is the hard one to work with, and the reason is that it hides nothing. A saturated film carries the eye past small marks in the surface because the colour is the event; a pale one leaves the surface itself on view, so every plane has to be brought to an even polish, done in one pass per face so no overlap shows as a change of sheen. The many shallow planes follow from the same fact. Deep faceting throws hard highlights that would overwhelm a film this quiet, whereas shallow planes hand the light on gently from one to the next and let the tone carry. The one face left almost clear, low on one side, works the same way: it reads as a pause in the colour rather than as a gap.

Seventy-eight centimetres puts it on the floor, or on a plinth of its own, and it wants to be placed well away from a busy corner. A pale, quiet ground is what makes it read: a plain wall, a light hall, an alcove with nothing in it, or the space beside a window. Against a bookcase or a patterned paper it simply disappears. Even daylight suits it better than a spotlight: a hard beam picks out the polish as white spots and takes the tone away, while a room lit generally lets the pale blue and the gold move across the faces as you walk past.

Polish, Ground and What Arrives

As standard the build runs 3–4 weeks, and as a bespoke commission 5–6. Polishing paces this build: a pale film shows every mark, so each face is finished with care and in a single pass. Scale, the number of planes and the film all belong to the commission, so a version at hall height or one cut with fewer and deeper faces are both from this design. The film is settled at order between this pastel, a saturated blue-to-violet and a warm gold-to-rose, and a pastel film can be applied over a frosted body for a still quieter object. Set it down in its place with both hands at the sides near the foot, never at the top. Our main studios are in the UK (Birmingham) and Dubai, with additional global workshops.

A pastel film needs a quiet ground, so geometric sculpture is where it belongs, acrylic sculpture is what it is, and indoor sculpture is where it reads.

Shipping & Returns

Almost every sculpture at Giant Sculptures is handmade to order, then shipped worldwide free of charge. Below is everything you need to know before you order, and what to expect after.

Production Time

Almost every sculpture is handmade to order by our artisans — we do not mass-produce.

  • Standard sculptures: approximately 3–4 weeks from order confirmation.
  • Bespoke commissions (custom sizes, finishes, or fully custom designs): approximately 5–6 weeks from design sign-off.

Production time is separate from delivery time.

Free Worldwide Shipping

Shipping is free worldwide on every sculpture, regardless of size or destination. Standard delivery is by sea freight, typically 6–8 weeks after production is complete.

Express air freight is available on request at additional cost, with delivery in up to 10 days. Ask us before placing your order, or straight after, and we will confirm the cost for your destination.

All sculptures ship in reinforced protective crating, fully insured to purchase value.

Delivery to Your Address

Delivery is to the door or curbside at your shipping address.

For larger sculptures shipped by sea freight, the carrier will contact you in advance to arrange a delivery window. Please ensure someone is available to accept the delivery and that the property has suitable access for the size of the piece.

Once the sculpture arrives, you are responsible for positioning it in its final display location. For larger or heavier pieces, we recommend arranging two people (family, friends, or a local moving service) to help with placement.

International Orders & Customs

For all orders delivered worldwide, all customs duties, import taxes, and applicable local clearance fees are fully included in the purchase price. We manage and settle these charges on your behalf, ensuring you will not incur any additional fees upon arrival.

Please note that this policy excludes shipments delivered to Switzerland, as well as any individual orders where an exclusion is explicitly stated prior to purchase; in such instances, local customs charges and import taxes remain the responsibility of the customer.

If you have questions about customs for your specific country, contact us before ordering and we can advise on typical charges for your region.

Returns

Where an order qualifies, we accept returns within 14 days of receipt, in original condition and original packaging, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

Because our sculptures are made individually, most orders do not qualify. Returns do not apply to any item that is not held in stock, is made to order, or is custom or bespoke.

To check whether your order qualifies, contact us within 14 days of receipt. On a qualifying return, return shipping is at the customer's cost, a 25% restocking fee applies, and original shipping charges are not refunded.

Damage in Transit

Every sculpture ships fully insured. In the unlikely event of damage during transit:

  1. Report the damage within 48 hours of delivery.
  2. Provide clear photographs of both the damage and the packaging.
  3. We arrange collection and either replacement or full refund at no cost to you.

Lifetime Guarantee

Every sculpture carries a lifetime guarantee against finish defects under normal display conditions, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

This covers manufacturing defects, premature finish degradation, and structural failures under normal display. It does not cover damage caused by accidents, misuse, inappropriate environments (for example, an indoor-only sculpture placed outdoors), or modifications made after delivery.
