This dining table's black glass top is so thin and so dark that it reads as a plane rather than a slab. Under it sits a single orange base, deeply fluted from top to bottom and gathered inward as it meets the floor, and the glass overhangs it by a long way at both ends so the top appears to float clear of its support.
The overhang is the whole effect: the base occupies only the middle of the length, so from either end the table is a black line in the air with a block of colour beneath its centre. The flutes are deep and irregular, some broad and some tight, falling the full height of the base like heavy cloth and drawing in at the foot, which narrows the footprint and makes the base read as a gathered form rather than a plinth. The orange has a soft satin finish and the glass a hard black gloss, so each catches the light in its own way.
At dining height it seats eight to ten, and with one central base there are no legs to fight the chairs for space, wherever they are drawn up. It wants a room with clearance to walk both long sides, and it is at its best where the ends can be seen against a plain floor. The orange is the loudest thing in any room it goes into, so the walls and floor around it want to be quiet. Indoor use only.
Once ordered, a standard piece takes 3–4 weeks and a bespoke one 5–6. The base is 3D printed, which is how folds this deep and this uneven are carried down to a narrow foot. It is also the reason the base is offered in other colours from the studio range at no change to the geometry. Length is made to order and the glass is specified black, smoked, bronze or clear, though clear glass loses the floating line entirely. On moving it: the glass travels flat in its own case and the base on a pallet, and the top is placed last by four people, lowered square rather than slid, because a panel this long with this much overhang will not take being levered into position. A hard level approach and a straight run from the door are worth checking before the order. Our main studios are in the UK (Birmingham) and Dubai, with additional global workshops.
Folded orange under black glass makes a strong current statement for our contemporary and modern sculptures; as a dining table it belongs to our art furniture, and as a room piece to our indoor sculptures.

Almost every sculpture at Giant Sculptures is handmade to order, then shipped worldwide free of charge. Below is everything you need to know before you order, and what to expect after.
Almost every sculpture is handmade to order by our artisans — we do not mass-produce.
Production time is separate from delivery time.
Shipping is free worldwide on every sculpture, regardless of size or destination. Standard delivery is by sea freight, typically 6–8 weeks after production is complete.
Express air freight is available on request at additional cost, with delivery in up to 10 days. Ask us before placing your order, or straight after, and we will confirm the cost for your destination.
All sculptures ship in reinforced protective crating, fully insured to purchase value.
Delivery is to the door or curbside at your shipping address.
For larger sculptures shipped by sea freight, the carrier will contact you in advance to arrange a delivery window. Please ensure someone is available to accept the delivery and that the property has suitable access for the size of the piece.
Once the sculpture arrives, you are responsible for positioning it in its final display location. For larger or heavier pieces, we recommend arranging two people (family, friends, or a local moving service) to help with placement.
For orders shipping outside the United Kingdom, any customs duties, import taxes, or local fees at your destination country are the responsibility of the customer. These charges are set by your local authority and are not included in our shipping cost.
If you have questions about customs for your specific country, contact us before ordering and we can advise on typical charges for your region.
Where an order qualifies, we accept returns within 14 days of receipt, in original condition and original packaging, subject to our Terms & Conditions.
Because our sculptures are made individually, most orders do not qualify. Returns do not apply to any item that is not held in stock, is made to order, or is custom or bespoke.
To check whether your order qualifies, contact us within 14 days of receipt. On a qualifying return, return shipping is at the customer's cost, a 25% restocking fee applies, and original shipping charges are not refunded.
Every sculpture ships fully insured. In the unlikely event of damage during transit:
Every sculpture carries a lifetime guarantee against finish defects under normal display conditions, subject to our Terms & Conditions.
This covers manufacturing defects, premature finish degradation, and structural failures under normal display. It does not cover damage caused by accidents, misuse, inappropriate environments (for example, an indoor-only sculpture placed outdoors), or modifications made after delivery.
If you have questions about shipping, customs, delivery timing, or anything else before you order, our team is here to help. Contact us via WhatsApp, email, or phone, and we'll respond within 24 hours.
