In this resin upholstered armchair the back is a single wide panel that flares outward as it rises and then turns down at each end, so the top edge reads as a shallow crescent. It stands clear above the seat on two slim uprights. Below, the seat and both arms are upholstered, the arms rolling over at their outer edges, and the seat is a broad shallow pan. Everything else is resin: the frame, the uprights and four legs that taper to the floor, tinted a smoke grey that turns olive through the thicker sections.
This chair combines resin with upholstery, and the two are kept visually apart. The back is a single wide panel, flaring as it rises and turning down at each end into a shallow crescent, and it stands clear above the seat on two slim uprights so daylight passes between panel and seat. That gap is the whole trick: it stops a broad tinted panel from reading as a slab. Below it the seat and both arms are upholstered, the arms rolling over at their outer edges, and the covering is left as the only soft thing on the piece. Everything else is resin, tinted a smoke grey that carries an olive note through its deeper parts.
At 114cm high this is a tall-backed armchair and it holds a room from across it. It will run in to a dining table but the back stands well above the table line, so a set reads as a row of crescents. The gap between panel and seat is what keeps it light, and it needs open floor behind rather than a wall tight against it. The upholstery makes it usable for a long sitting. Two people. Indoors.
Bespoke commissions take 5–6 weeks; standard pieces take 3–4. Most of it is the flared back. Three things are open at order. The frame is offered in other tints, the covering on the seat and arms is selected by you, and the flare on the back panel can be opened out or drawn in. The gap between panel and seat is also adjustable. Seat height and overall height are made to the figures you give. Several ordered together are worked so that the olive cast in the resin agrees. The flared back panel and the upholstery must be padded first, and then it is a four-person job to walk it in. Our main studios are in the UK (Birmingham) and Dubai, with additional global workshops.
A flared crescent of tinted resin over an upholstered seat gives our art furniture a tall-backed armchair; the panel suits our contemporary and modern sculptures, and a long sitting among our indoor sculptures.

Almost every sculpture at Giant Sculptures is handmade to order, then shipped worldwide free of charge. Below is everything you need to know before you order, and what to expect after.
Almost every sculpture is handmade to order by our artisans — we do not mass-produce.
Production time is separate from delivery time.
Shipping is free worldwide on every sculpture, regardless of size or destination. Standard delivery is by sea freight, typically 6–8 weeks after production is complete.
Express air freight is available on request at additional cost, with delivery in up to 10 days. Ask us before placing your order, or straight after, and we will confirm the cost for your destination.
All sculptures ship in reinforced protective crating, fully insured to purchase value.
Delivery is to the door or curbside at your shipping address.
For larger sculptures shipped by sea freight, the carrier will contact you in advance to arrange a delivery window. Please ensure someone is available to accept the delivery and that the property has suitable access for the size of the piece.
Once the sculpture arrives, you are responsible for positioning it in its final display location. For larger or heavier pieces, we recommend arranging two people (family, friends, or a local moving service) to help with placement.
For orders shipping outside the United Kingdom, any customs duties, import taxes, or local fees at your destination country are the responsibility of the customer. These charges are set by your local authority and are not included in our shipping cost.
If you have questions about customs for your specific country, contact us before ordering and we can advise on typical charges for your region.
Where an order qualifies, we accept returns within 14 days of receipt, in original condition and original packaging, subject to our Terms & Conditions.
Because our sculptures are made individually, most orders do not qualify. Returns do not apply to any item that is not held in stock, is made to order, or is custom or bespoke.
To check whether your order qualifies, contact us within 14 days of receipt. On a qualifying return, return shipping is at the customer's cost, a 25% restocking fee applies, and original shipping charges are not refunded.
Every sculpture ships fully insured. In the unlikely event of damage during transit:
Every sculpture carries a lifetime guarantee against finish defects under normal display conditions, subject to our Terms & Conditions.
This covers manufacturing defects, premature finish degradation, and structural failures under normal display. It does not cover damage caused by accidents, misuse, inappropriate environments (for example, an indoor-only sculpture placed outdoors), or modifications made after delivery.
If you have questions about shipping, customs, delivery timing, or anything else before you order, our team is here to help. Contact us via WhatsApp, email, or phone, and we'll respond within 24 hours.
