Olive Figured Timber Block Resin Side Table, 45cm, with olive-green and brown wood grain set off-centre in a clear resin casting, shown against a plain white background.
Olive Figured Timber Block Resin Side Table - 45cm $3,71200
Description

A side table with its timber set off-centre inside the clear casting, so the margin falls on two adjacent faces and the timber runs out to the arris on the other two. The wood is olive-green shot through with grey and a warm brown, figured rather than striped, with the grain rising and swirling instead of running straight. The cut end forms the top, capped flush by the clear material.

Set Off-Centre, So the Clear Falls on a Corner

Putting the timber off-centre rather than in the middle is what gives this one its character. The clear margin gathers at a single corner and runs down two faces from it, so the block has a bright edge and a dark one, and from the bright corner the timber appears to float inside the material with a hand's width of air round it. From the opposite corner it is a plain wooden block. The figure suits that treatment: it is a moving, curling grain, olive where the wood is densest and grey where it has weathered, and it reads much better through a few centimetres of resin than it does dry, because the material wets the surface and lifts the colour the way an oil finish would. The cut top shows the same figure end on, ringed and slightly off-round. Every board is different and this one was chosen for the green.

At 45cm it works as a side table, a stool or a plinth for something small. The off-centre casing means it has a preferred orientation: the clear corner towards the room and the light, the timber corner towards the wall. It suits a hall, beside a chair, at the end of a sofa, or as one of a pair flanking a doorway. Because two faces are wood to the edge it sits well beside other timber, and because two are clear it does not disappear against it. Give it side light rather than overhead so the figure lights through the margin. Indoor use only.

Where the Timber Sits in the Block, and the Green in the Grain

Delivery follows a 3–4 week build as standard, or a 5–6 week build if bespoke. The position of the timber inside the block is the decision that changes this most: off-centre as here for a bright corner, centred for an even margin all round, or hard to one side so a single face is entirely clear. Colour in the grain cannot be ordered - the olive comes from the board, and stock is offered for approval before cutting starts rather than promising a tone. The square of the plan can be made broader or slimmer, with the height following. The top can be capped flush as here or left standing slightly proud of the resin, which gives a lip and changes how it takes a tray. Where two are wanted, they are cut from one board and cast at different heights so that they match. It travels in one crate on a pallet, arrives solid with nothing to fit, and needs two people. Our main studios are in the UK (Birmingham) and Dubai, with additional global workshops.

Timber floated off-centre in a clear block makes a side table for our art furniture, a casting at home in our resin sculptures, and a figured grain that belongs with our organic sculptures.

Shipping & Returns

Almost every sculpture at Giant Sculptures is handmade to order, then shipped worldwide free of charge. Below is everything you need to know before you order, and what to expect after.

Production Time

Almost every sculpture is handmade to order by our artisans — we do not mass-produce.

  • Standard sculptures: approximately 3–4 weeks from order confirmation.
  • Bespoke commissions (custom sizes, finishes, or fully custom designs): approximately 5–6 weeks from design sign-off.

Production time is separate from delivery time.

Free Worldwide Shipping

Shipping is free worldwide on every sculpture, regardless of size or destination. Standard delivery is by sea freight, typically 6–8 weeks after production is complete.

Express air freight is available on request at additional cost, with delivery in up to 10 days. Ask us before placing your order, or straight after, and we will confirm the cost for your destination.

All sculptures ship in reinforced protective crating, fully insured to purchase value.

Delivery to Your Address

Delivery is to the door or curbside at your shipping address.

For larger sculptures shipped by sea freight, the carrier will contact you in advance to arrange a delivery window. Please ensure someone is available to accept the delivery and that the property has suitable access for the size of the piece.

Once the sculpture arrives, you are responsible for positioning it in its final display location. For larger or heavier pieces, we recommend arranging two people (family, friends, or a local moving service) to help with placement.

International Orders & Customs

For orders shipping outside the United Kingdom, any customs duties, import taxes, or local fees at your destination country are the responsibility of the customer. These charges are set by your local authority and are not included in our shipping cost.

If you have questions about customs for your specific country, contact us before ordering and we can advise on typical charges for your region.

Returns

Where an order qualifies, we accept returns within 14 days of receipt, in original condition and original packaging, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

Because our sculptures are made individually, most orders do not qualify. Returns do not apply to any item that is not held in stock, is made to order, or is custom or bespoke.

To check whether your order qualifies, contact us within 14 days of receipt. On a qualifying return, return shipping is at the customer's cost, a 25% restocking fee applies, and original shipping charges are not refunded.

Damage in Transit

Every sculpture ships fully insured. In the unlikely event of damage during transit:

  1. Report the damage within 48 hours of delivery.
  2. Provide clear photographs of both the damage and the packaging.
  3. We arrange collection and either replacement or full refund at no cost to you.

Lifetime Guarantee

Every sculpture carries a lifetime guarantee against finish defects under normal display conditions, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

This covers manufacturing defects, premature finish degradation, and structural failures under normal display. It does not cover damage caused by accidents, misuse, inappropriate environments (for example, an indoor-only sculpture placed outdoors), or modifications made after delivery.
