Multicoloured Inclusion Disc Side Table on Black Tripod, 57cm, with a resin top holding pink, red, turquoise and gold inclusions, set on a slim black steel tripod base, shown against a plain white background.
Multicoloured Inclusion Disc Side Table on Black Tripod - 57cm $2,90200
Description

This side table's top is a thick dark disc with a chamfered rim, and held through it is a field of inclusions: dried sprigs in pink and deep red, a single turquoise sprig, flakes of red, clouds of bronze and one crinkled patch of pale gold. They crowd towards one side and thin to clear dark material at the other. Under it a slim black steel tripod rises from a ring foot, the three legs curving out and down so the table stands on a circle rather than on three points.

A Fragment Field Read Against a Dark Ground

Putting bright inclusions into a dark body rather than a clear one is what makes this work. In clear material the fragments would float and the eye would pass through them; against the near-black ground each one reads as a lit chip on a dark field, so the top behaves less like a window and more like a stone with mineral in it. The colours are not evenly mixed: pink sprigs, red flakes and the patch of gold crowd one half of the disc, a few strands cross the middle, and the opposite edge is nearly empty, which gives the top a direction and a quiet side to turn towards a wall. The rim is chamfered rather than square, so the disc reads thinner than it is and the field appears to sit in a shallow dish. Every field is different and none of it is arranged in a pattern.

At 57cm the top sits at the height of a chair arm rather than below it, and the small disc suits a narrow gap. It works beside an armchair, at the end of a sofa, in a hall, or as a plant stand. The ring foot is the practical point: it spreads the load and will not mark a rug the way three points would. Put the dense side towards the room. A lamp above it lifts the reds; a low light does very little for it. Indoor use only.

The Fragment Mix, the Ground It Sits In, and the Base

Our workshops take 3–4 weeks over a standard piece and 5–6 over a bespoke commission. Three things are settled at order. The mix: pinks, reds and gold as here, or a cooler set of blues and greys, or a single colour, which reads far more deliberate. The density and where it drifts, from the strongly one-sided field here to an even scatter. And the ground, which is near-black as standard and made in a deep green and a smoke grey - the darker the ground, the harder the fragments read against it. On the base: this black steel tripod is standard, and a brushed brass and a plain satin steel are both made on the same profile, with the height following the base rather than the top. Other diameters are made to order. It arrives in two boxes, the top and the base, and the base bolts to fixings on the underside, which is a ten-minute job for one person. Our main studios are in the UK (Birmingham) and Dubai, with additional global workshops.

With its steel tripod it also belongs to our metal sculptures, while the inclusion-strewn disc joins our resin sculptures and the table as a whole our art furniture.

Shipping & Returns

Almost every sculpture at Giant Sculptures is handmade to order, then shipped worldwide free of charge. Below is everything you need to know before you order, and what to expect after.

Production Time

Almost every sculpture is handmade to order by our artisans — we do not mass-produce.

  • Standard sculptures: approximately 3–4 weeks from order confirmation.
  • Bespoke commissions (custom sizes, finishes, or fully custom designs): approximately 5–6 weeks from design sign-off.

Production time is separate from delivery time.

Free Worldwide Shipping

Shipping is free worldwide on every sculpture, regardless of size or destination. Standard delivery is by sea freight, typically 6–8 weeks after production is complete.

Express air freight is available on request at additional cost, with delivery in up to 10 days. Ask us before placing your order, or straight after, and we will confirm the cost for your destination.

All sculptures ship in reinforced protective crating, fully insured to purchase value.

Delivery to Your Address

Delivery is to the door or curbside at your shipping address.

For larger sculptures shipped by sea freight, the carrier will contact you in advance to arrange a delivery window. Please ensure someone is available to accept the delivery and that the property has suitable access for the size of the piece.

Once the sculpture arrives, you are responsible for positioning it in its final display location. For larger or heavier pieces, we recommend arranging two people (family, friends, or a local moving service) to help with placement.

International Orders & Customs

For orders shipping outside the United Kingdom, any customs duties, import taxes, or local fees at your destination country are the responsibility of the customer. These charges are set by your local authority and are not included in our shipping cost.

If you have questions about customs for your specific country, contact us before ordering and we can advise on typical charges for your region.

Returns

Where an order qualifies, we accept returns within 14 days of receipt, in original condition and original packaging, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

Because our sculptures are made individually, most orders do not qualify. Returns do not apply to any item that is not held in stock, is made to order, or is custom or bespoke.

To check whether your order qualifies, contact us within 14 days of receipt. On a qualifying return, return shipping is at the customer's cost, a 25% restocking fee applies, and original shipping charges are not refunded.

Damage in Transit

Every sculpture ships fully insured. In the unlikely event of damage during transit:

  1. Report the damage within 48 hours of delivery.
  2. Provide clear photographs of both the damage and the packaging.
  3. We arrange collection and either replacement or full refund at no cost to you.

Lifetime Guarantee

Every sculpture carries a lifetime guarantee against finish defects under normal display conditions, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

This covers manufacturing defects, premature finish degradation, and structural failures under normal display. It does not cover damage caused by accidents, misuse, inappropriate environments (for example, an indoor-only sculpture placed outdoors), or modifications made after delivery.
