Multi-Colour Slant-Cut Prism Acrylic Sculpture - 157cm, a tall dichroic acrylic column with a slanted top in lavender-blue, amber, and green tones, shown on a plain white background.
Multi-Colour Slant-Cut Prism Acrylic Sculpture - 157cm $5,36900
Description

A prismatic acrylic sculpture: one tall block standing on its end, which reads as a column rather than as an ornament. Every face is flat and vertical, and then the top is cut off on a steep slant, which turns the cap from a rectangle into a long lozenge and gives the whole thing a direction. The body is dichroic: a pale lavender-blue holds the broad face, the narrow one runs yellow and green through its middle and deepens to amber at the foot, and the slanted cap returns a deep rust-amber.

One Cut Decides the Whole Object

On an object this plain the single slanted cut carries everything, and it is also the hardest surface on the piece. It is the one plane that is not upright, it sits nearest the eye when you stand close, and it is cut across the block at an angle rather than square, so there is nothing to reference it against except the drawing. It is worked flat and then polished to the same grade as the vertical faces, which is more demanding than it sounds: a slight difference in polish between the cap and the sides shows as a change of colour rather than of finish, because the coating returns what is under it. The four vertical corners are left crisp so the column reads as cut and not moulded.

At 157cm it rises above shoulder height, so it is floor work that wants a place of its own: the far end of a hall, the turn of a stair, a recess beside a full-height window, or the corner of a room with two walls meeting behind it. The slant should be turned towards the way people arrive, since that cut is the composition and from behind the column is just a column. Light from the side and above is what moves the coating; a downlight directly over it finds the cap and leaves the body flat. It needs a hard level floor rather than a rug, because a vertical this tall reports any lean immediately.

Height, Coating and Getting It Upright

Plan for 3–4 weeks on a standard piece and 5–6 weeks on a bespoke commission. The angle of the cut is drawn per piece and it is the main thing worth changing: steeper for more drama, shallower for a quieter column, or square across for no slant at all. The coating comes as this run of lavender-blue and amber, a single shift, a green, or clear for a plain prism. The plan can be square rather than rectangular and the height runs both ways, down to a desk piece and up to something that needs two people. It is kept upright whenever it is moved, carried low with hands under the shoulders of the block and never taken by the cap. Our main studios are in the UK (Birmingham) and Dubai, with additional global workshops.

A tall dichroic prism with its top cut away on a steep slant stands with our geometric sculptures, our acrylic sculptures and our contemporary and modern sculptures.

Shipping & Returns

Almost every sculpture at Giant Sculptures is handmade to order, then shipped worldwide free of charge. Below is everything you need to know before you order, and what to expect after.

Production Time

Almost every sculpture is handmade to order by our artisans — we do not mass-produce.

  • Standard sculptures: approximately 3–4 weeks from order confirmation.
  • Bespoke commissions (custom sizes, finishes, or fully custom designs): approximately 5–6 weeks from design sign-off.

Production time is separate from delivery time.

Free Worldwide Shipping

Shipping is free worldwide on every sculpture, regardless of size or destination. Standard delivery is by sea freight, typically 6–8 weeks after production is complete.

Express air freight is available on request at additional cost, with delivery in up to 10 days. Ask us before placing your order, or straight after, and we will confirm the cost for your destination.

All sculptures ship in reinforced protective crating, fully insured to purchase value.

Delivery to Your Address

Delivery is to the door or curbside at your shipping address.

For larger sculptures shipped by sea freight, the carrier will contact you in advance to arrange a delivery window. Please ensure someone is available to accept the delivery and that the property has suitable access for the size of the piece.

Once the sculpture arrives, you are responsible for positioning it in its final display location. For larger or heavier pieces, we recommend arranging two people (family, friends, or a local moving service) to help with placement.

International Orders & Customs

For all orders delivered worldwide, all customs duties, import taxes, and applicable local clearance fees are fully included in the purchase price. We manage and settle these charges on your behalf, ensuring you will not incur any additional fees upon arrival.

Please note that this policy excludes shipments delivered to Switzerland, as well as any individual orders where an exclusion is explicitly stated prior to purchase; in such instances, local customs charges and import taxes remain the responsibility of the customer.

If you have questions about customs for your specific country, contact us before ordering and we can advise on typical charges for your region.

Returns

Where an order qualifies, we accept returns within 14 days of receipt, in original condition and original packaging, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

Because our sculptures are made individually, most orders do not qualify. Returns do not apply to any item that is not held in stock, is made to order, or is custom or bespoke.

To check whether your order qualifies, contact us within 14 days of receipt. On a qualifying return, return shipping is at the customer's cost, a 25% restocking fee applies, and original shipping charges are not refunded.

Damage in Transit

Every sculpture ships fully insured. In the unlikely event of damage during transit:

  1. Report the damage within 48 hours of delivery.
  2. Provide clear photographs of both the damage and the packaging.
  3. We arrange collection and either replacement or full refund at no cost to you.

Lifetime Guarantee

Every sculpture carries a lifetime guarantee against finish defects under normal display conditions, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

This covers manufacturing defects, premature finish degradation, and structural failures under normal display. It does not cover damage caused by accidents, misuse, inappropriate environments (for example, an indoor-only sculpture placed outdoors), or modifications made after delivery.
