Multi-Colour Low Faceted Boulder Acrylic Sculpture - 100cm $4,55400
Description

A low faceted acrylic sculpture cut like a boulder rather than like a crystal: broad planes lie across the top, and below them the clear faces of the foot are cut back under the crown at one end, so that end appears to rest lightly on much less than it should, and run out to a long, low point at the other. Magenta and rose fill the upper faces, violet gathers in the deep facets, a blue face sits at the cut-back end, and pale green and cream come up round the foot where the film is seen at a shallow angle.

Cut Flat Rather Than Cut Upright

A horizontal cut changes which faces matter. On an upright block the vertical planes are what a standing adult sees, and the top is very nearly decoration; on a piece this low the reverse is true, because you look down onto it from well above and the top planes are the composition. So the broad faces are set out to be read in plan rather than in elevation, and they are angled to throw colour upwards into the room instead of outwards at a wall. The faces of the foot are the other half of the same decision. Left square, a low mass this wide would read as a slab; cut back under one end and drawn out to a point at the other, the silhouette lifts off whatever it stands on and the whole piece takes a direction. Every block is cut individually and the deep facets fall differently each time.

Wide and low, it wants a surface of its own: a broad plinth, a wide console, or the floor of an alcove where it can be walked round and looked down on. Being looked down on is how this one is meant to be seen, with the broad top planes turned up to the room. Light from above is what it needs: a ceiling fitting or good daylight overhead fills the top planes and the colour comes up out of them, whereas a light at its own level catches only the clear faces of the foot and leaves the top grey.

The Undercut, the Film and Delivery

Time separates the two: a bespoke commission takes 5–6 weeks, a standard piece 3–4. The plan size, the height and the facet layout belong to each commission, so a version at coffee-table scale, or one cut deeper so it reads as a boulder rather than a slab, are both from this design. The film is chosen at order: this magenta-and-violet, a gold-to-rose, or a green-to-cyan that stays cool under a north light. On a piece cut this flat the underside can also be filmed, which throws colour down onto the surface it stands on. It is lifted onto its place by the body of the mass rather than by its point or its cut-back end. Our main studios are in the UK (Birmingham) and Dubai, with additional global workshops.

A boulder worked in broad planes across the top is geometric sculpture held loosely; the magenta and violet in it is acrylic sculpture; and a mass this wide and this flat suits indoor sculpture.

Shipping & Returns

Almost every sculpture at Giant Sculptures is handmade to order, then shipped worldwide free of charge. Below is everything you need to know before you order, and what to expect after.

Production Time

Almost every sculpture is handmade to order by our artisans — we do not mass-produce.

  • Standard sculptures: approximately 3–4 weeks from order confirmation.
  • Bespoke commissions (custom sizes, finishes, or fully custom designs): approximately 5–6 weeks from design sign-off.

Production time is separate from delivery time.

Free Worldwide Shipping

Shipping is free worldwide on every sculpture, regardless of size or destination. Standard delivery is by sea freight, typically 6–8 weeks after production is complete.

Express air freight is available on request at additional cost, with delivery in up to 10 days. Ask us before placing your order, or straight after, and we will confirm the cost for your destination.

All sculptures ship in reinforced protective crating, fully insured to purchase value.

Delivery to Your Address

Delivery is to the door or curbside at your shipping address.

For larger sculptures shipped by sea freight, the carrier will contact you in advance to arrange a delivery window. Please ensure someone is available to accept the delivery and that the property has suitable access for the size of the piece.

Once the sculpture arrives, you are responsible for positioning it in its final display location. For larger or heavier pieces, we recommend arranging two people (family, friends, or a local moving service) to help with placement.

International Orders & Customs

For all orders delivered worldwide, all customs duties, import taxes, and applicable local clearance fees are fully included in the purchase price. We manage and settle these charges on your behalf, ensuring you will not incur any additional fees upon arrival.

Please note that this policy excludes shipments delivered to Switzerland, as well as any individual orders where an exclusion is explicitly stated prior to purchase; in such instances, local customs charges and import taxes remain the responsibility of the customer.

If you have questions about customs for your specific country, contact us before ordering and we can advise on typical charges for your region.

Returns

Where an order qualifies, we accept returns within 14 days of receipt, in original condition and original packaging, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

Because our sculptures are made individually, most orders do not qualify. Returns do not apply to any item that is not held in stock, is made to order, or is custom or bespoke.

To check whether your order qualifies, contact us within 14 days of receipt. On a qualifying return, return shipping is at the customer's cost, a 25% restocking fee applies, and original shipping charges are not refunded.

Damage in Transit

Every sculpture ships fully insured. In the unlikely event of damage during transit:

  1. Report the damage within 48 hours of delivery.
  2. Provide clear photographs of both the damage and the packaging.
  3. We arrange collection and either replacement or full refund at no cost to you.

Lifetime Guarantee

Every sculpture carries a lifetime guarantee against finish defects under normal display conditions, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

This covers manufacturing defects, premature finish degradation, and structural failures under normal display. It does not cover damage caused by accidents, misuse, inappropriate environments (for example, an indoor-only sculpture placed outdoors), or modifications made after delivery.
