Multi-Colour Leaning Faceted Gem Acrylic Sculpture - 53cm
Multi-Colour Leaning Faceted Gem Acrylic Sculpture - 53cm $2,57100
Description

This acrylic sculpture is an upright faceted block that does not stand square: it leans well off the vertical, far enough to make it look caught mid-fall rather than placed. It is cut into something like sixteen planes, which is FEW for a block this size, so each plane is broad. That is what decides how it reads: the front plane returns a saturated magenta as one whole field, the upper right is gold going to acid yellow, the left flank below it is pale green and cyan, and each meets the next along a hard edge rather than a blend.

Few Planes, So Each Colour Arrives Whole

Few and broad planes is a harder cut than many and small, for a reason that is not obvious. A small facet forgives a fraction of a degree because the eye has nothing to compare it against; a broad one shows the error across its whole width, and on a translucent body it shows it twice, once on the surface and again as a distortion through the material. So each plane is worked flat against a reference and brought to a full polish edge to edge, because the coating over it reproduces whatever is beneath. The lean is set at the same time as the base plane is cut, and it has to be enough to read as deliberate and little enough that nobody wants to straighten it - which is a narrower window than it sounds.

Fifty-three centimetres puts it at eye level, so a console, a sideboard or a cabinet top suits it better than the floor, and it needs room around it because the lean needs somewhere to lean into. Set it clear of other objects for a second reason: it throws coloured light onto whatever stands beside it, and a pale surface next to it takes on the magenta. Daylight is what a coating like this wants, since a broad changing source moves it through its range while one fixed spot holds it at whatever colour it found. Against a dark wall the planes separate; against a white one they wash together.

Broad Planes, the Coating and Delivery

Figure the difference between standard and bespoke at 3–4 weeks against 5–6. The coating is chosen at order and it decides the object: this magenta and gold set, a cool blue-to-green shift, a single colour, or an uncoated block reading as clear glass. The cut is drawn per piece, so more planes and finer, or fewer and broader still, are both available, and the lean can be taken out for a block that stands square. It is made from something that sits on a desk up to a piece that clears a doorway. It is moved standing as it stands, taken by two opposite planes with flat hands, since a coated face laid down on grit marks in a way that cannot be polished out. Our main studios are in the UK (Birmingham) and Dubai, with additional global workshops.

Planes cut at deliberate angles are geometric sculpture by definition, the block is acrylic sculpture by material, and the coating asks for indoor sculpture.

Shipping & Returns

Almost every sculpture at Giant Sculptures is handmade to order, then shipped worldwide free of charge. Below is everything you need to know before you order, and what to expect after.

Production Time

Almost every sculpture is handmade to order by our artisans — we do not mass-produce.

  • Standard sculptures: approximately 3–4 weeks from order confirmation.
  • Bespoke commissions (custom sizes, finishes, or fully custom designs): approximately 5–6 weeks from design sign-off.

Production time is separate from delivery time.

Free Worldwide Shipping

Shipping is free worldwide on every sculpture, regardless of size or destination. Standard delivery is by sea freight, typically 6–8 weeks after production is complete.

Express air freight is available on request at additional cost, with delivery in up to 10 days. Ask us before placing your order, or straight after, and we will confirm the cost for your destination.

All sculptures ship in reinforced protective crating, fully insured to purchase value.

Delivery to Your Address

Delivery is to the door or curbside at your shipping address.

For larger sculptures shipped by sea freight, the carrier will contact you in advance to arrange a delivery window. Please ensure someone is available to accept the delivery and that the property has suitable access for the size of the piece.

Once the sculpture arrives, you are responsible for positioning it in its final display location. For larger or heavier pieces, we recommend arranging two people (family, friends, or a local moving service) to help with placement.

International Orders & Customs

For all orders delivered worldwide, all customs duties, import taxes, and applicable local clearance fees are fully included in the purchase price. We manage and settle these charges on your behalf, ensuring you will not incur any additional fees upon arrival.

Please note that this policy excludes shipments delivered to Switzerland, as well as any individual orders where an exclusion is explicitly stated prior to purchase; in such instances, local customs charges and import taxes remain the responsibility of the customer.

If you have questions about customs for your specific country, contact us before ordering and we can advise on typical charges for your region.

Returns

Where an order qualifies, we accept returns within 14 days of receipt, in original condition and original packaging, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

Because our sculptures are made individually, most orders do not qualify. Returns do not apply to any item that is not held in stock, is made to order, or is custom or bespoke.

To check whether your order qualifies, contact us within 14 days of receipt. On a qualifying return, return shipping is at the customer's cost, a 25% restocking fee applies, and original shipping charges are not refunded.

Damage in Transit

Every sculpture ships fully insured. In the unlikely event of damage during transit:

  1. Report the damage within 48 hours of delivery.
  2. Provide clear photographs of both the damage and the packaging.
  3. We arrange collection and either replacement or full refund at no cost to you.

Lifetime Guarantee

Every sculpture carries a lifetime guarantee against finish defects under normal display conditions, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

This covers manufacturing defects, premature finish degradation, and structural failures under normal display. It does not cover damage caused by accidents, misuse, inappropriate environments (for example, an indoor-only sculpture placed outdoors), or modifications made after delivery.
