Multi-Colour Graded Standing Doe Resin Sculpture, 66cm, mid-stride pose with head turned back, blending red, amber, green and blue tones, on a plain white background.
Multi-Colour Graded Standing Doe Resin Sculpture - 66cm $3,37500
Description

This resin sculpture is a doe caught in mid-stride, one hind leg reaching well back behind her and her head raised and turned back over her shoulder. She has no antlers and there is very little detail anywhere on her: the form is smooth and simple. What the piece is about is the colour, an iridescent grade that begins as a deep red at the head, runs through amber and gold down the neck and a green across the barrel, and finishes as a clear blue across the whole of the hindquarters.

An Animal Whose Whole Subject Is Its Colour

With no antlers and almost no modelling, the grade has nothing to compete with and every fault in it is the whole fault. On the stags a wide rack carries the eye and a slight unevenness in the middle of the body goes unnoticed; here the barrel is a wide unbroken area and it is exactly where the green sits. So the transition through the middle is worked more slowly than it is on a detailed piece, and each animal is stood beside the last one finished and compared along the flank rather than checked at the ends. A body this plain is also polished to a higher grade than a busier one, since there is nothing on the surface to hide a swirl.

A plain standing animal in a strong colour is a piece of furniture as much as a sculpture: it holds a corner, an alcove or a hearth on its own and does not want company. At 66cm it works on the floor or on a low chest. Cool light is what keeps the grade honest - daylight, or a lamp at the cooler end - because a warm bulb takes the blue out and leaves an amber animal. Against a white wall the whole length of the grade reads at once, which is the view to give it.

Grade Direction, Scale and Placing It

Once ordered, a standard piece takes 3–4 weeks and a bespoke one 5–6. The grade can be reversed so the blue is at the head, held to a single colour, or replaced by a plain clear body. Other grades are made: a rose running into gold, a green running into blue, and one held entirely in greys. The same doe is made grazing with the head down, and stags with antlers are made to match at several heights. She can be made at another scale, and two or more bought at once are finished together so their grades match. She stands in a fitted crate with the legs braced and needs no assembly; two people should place her, taking the weight under the chest and the haunches. Our main studios are in the UK (Birmingham) and Dubai, with additional global workshops.

A doe in mid-stride in graded colour belongs with our deer statues; a plain smooth body leads to our animal sculptures, and red passing through green to blue joins our resin sculptures.

Shipping & Returns

Almost every sculpture at Giant Sculptures is handmade to order, then shipped worldwide free of charge. Below is everything you need to know before you order, and what to expect after.

Production Time

Almost every sculpture is handmade to order by our artisans — we do not mass-produce.

  • Standard sculptures: approximately 3–4 weeks from order confirmation.
  • Bespoke commissions (custom sizes, finishes, or fully custom designs): approximately 5–6 weeks from design sign-off.

Production time is separate from delivery time.

Free Worldwide Shipping

Shipping is free worldwide on every sculpture, regardless of size or destination. Standard delivery is by sea freight, typically 6–8 weeks after production is complete.

Express air freight is available on request at additional cost, with delivery in up to 10 days. Ask us before placing your order, or straight after, and we will confirm the cost for your destination.

All sculptures ship in reinforced protective crating, fully insured to purchase value.

Delivery to Your Address

Delivery is to the door or curbside at your shipping address.

For larger sculptures shipped by sea freight, the carrier will contact you in advance to arrange a delivery window. Please ensure someone is available to accept the delivery and that the property has suitable access for the size of the piece.

Once the sculpture arrives, you are responsible for positioning it in its final display location. For larger or heavier pieces, we recommend arranging two people (family, friends, or a local moving service) to help with placement.

International Orders & Customs

For orders shipping outside the United Kingdom, any customs duties, import taxes, or local fees at your destination country are the responsibility of the customer. These charges are set by your local authority and are not included in our shipping cost.

If you have questions about customs for your specific country, contact us before ordering and we can advise on typical charges for your region.

Returns

Where an order qualifies, we accept returns within 14 days of receipt, in original condition and original packaging, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

Because our sculptures are made individually, most orders do not qualify. Returns do not apply to any item that is not held in stock, is made to order, or is custom or bespoke.

To check whether your order qualifies, contact us within 14 days of receipt. On a qualifying return, return shipping is at the customer's cost, a 25% restocking fee applies, and original shipping charges are not refunded.

Damage in Transit

Every sculpture ships fully insured. In the unlikely event of damage during transit:

  1. Report the damage within 48 hours of delivery.
  2. Provide clear photographs of both the damage and the packaging.
  3. We arrange collection and either replacement or full refund at no cost to you.

Lifetime Guarantee

Every sculpture carries a lifetime guarantee against finish defects under normal display conditions, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

This covers manufacturing defects, premature finish degradation, and structural failures under normal display. It does not cover damage caused by accidents, misuse, inappropriate environments (for example, an indoor-only sculpture placed outdoors), or modifications made after delivery.
