Multi-Colour Faceted Gem Acrylic Sculpture, 38cm, with bold yellow, red-magenta, cyan, blue, and violet planes, shown against a plain white background.
Multi-Colour Faceted Gem Acrylic Sculpture - 38cm $2,16500
Description

A compact acrylic sculpture, nearly as deep and as wide as it is tall, faceted into something like eighteen planes. Its colours separate strongly: the broad plane low on the front is a saturated yellow, the left side runs red into magenta, the top planes are cyan and blue, and the rear edge goes violet. Because the faces are broad and few, each colour arrives as a solid block rather than a gradient, and the boundaries between them are hard lines. No single view shows more than about half of them.

Every Plane a Different Colour

With this few faces the cut carries all the risk. A large plane shows any error across its whole width, so each is worked flat against a reference rather than by eye, and the polish has to be even from edge to edge or the coating over it reads as a cloud in the middle of an otherwise solid colour. The junctions are the other exacting passage. Three planes meeting at a corner have to arrive at one point, and on a translucent body a corner that misses by a fraction shows as a bright line running away from it. The coating is applied over the finished cut and is directional, so the piece is oriented deliberately before it goes on: which plane ends up yellow and which ends up violet is a decision made at that moment and cannot be adjusted afterwards.

This is small enough to live at eye level and it should, on a mantel, a shelf, a desk or the top of a cabinet, where it can be reached and turned. Turning it is the reward, since the colours change completely as it moves. Set it clear of other objects rather than in a group, because it throws coloured light onto whatever is beside it and a white bowl next to it will not look white. A windowsill is the best place of all, with the obvious caution that direct summer sun through a south window is harsher than it looks and the piece is happier with bright indirect light.

The Cut, the Coating and What Arrives

Count on the difference between standard and bespoke: 3–4 weeks or 5–6. The colour set is specified at order: this full spread, a two-tone shift, a single colour, or an uncoated block that reads as clear glass. The cut is drawn per piece, so a form with fewer and broader planes or many small ones is available from the same starting block, and the proportions can be run high or squat. Sizes run up considerably from this one. It is lifted with a flat hand on each of two opposite planes, never by an edge, because the corners, where three planes arrive at one point, are the part of the cut that will not survive being knocked. Our main studios are in the UK (Birmingham) and Dubai, with additional global workshops.

Every face here is a separate decision, which puts it among geometric sculpture, inside acrylic sculpture, and on the sheltered side of indoor sculpture.

Shipping & Returns

Almost every sculpture at Giant Sculptures is handmade to order, then shipped worldwide free of charge. Below is everything you need to know before you order, and what to expect after.

Production Time

Almost every sculpture is handmade to order by our artisans — we do not mass-produce.

  • Standard sculptures: approximately 3–4 weeks from order confirmation.
  • Bespoke commissions (custom sizes, finishes, or fully custom designs): approximately 5–6 weeks from design sign-off.

Production time is separate from delivery time.

Free Worldwide Shipping

Shipping is free worldwide on every sculpture, regardless of size or destination. Standard delivery is by sea freight, typically 6–8 weeks after production is complete.

Express air freight is available on request at additional cost, with delivery in up to 10 days. Ask us before placing your order, or straight after, and we will confirm the cost for your destination.

All sculptures ship in reinforced protective crating, fully insured to purchase value.

Delivery to Your Address

Delivery is to the door or curbside at your shipping address.

For larger sculptures shipped by sea freight, the carrier will contact you in advance to arrange a delivery window. Please ensure someone is available to accept the delivery and that the property has suitable access for the size of the piece.

Once the sculpture arrives, you are responsible for positioning it in its final display location. For larger or heavier pieces, we recommend arranging two people (family, friends, or a local moving service) to help with placement.

International Orders & Customs

For all orders delivered worldwide, all customs duties, import taxes, and applicable local clearance fees are fully included in the purchase price. We manage and settle these charges on your behalf, ensuring you will not incur any additional fees upon arrival.

Please note that this policy excludes shipments delivered to Switzerland, as well as any individual orders where an exclusion is explicitly stated prior to purchase; in such instances, local customs charges and import taxes remain the responsibility of the customer.

If you have questions about customs for your specific country, contact us before ordering and we can advise on typical charges for your region.

Returns

Where an order qualifies, we accept returns within 14 days of receipt, in original condition and original packaging, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

Because our sculptures are made individually, most orders do not qualify. Returns do not apply to any item that is not held in stock, is made to order, or is custom or bespoke.

To check whether your order qualifies, contact us within 14 days of receipt. On a qualifying return, return shipping is at the customer's cost, a 25% restocking fee applies, and original shipping charges are not refunded.

Damage in Transit

Every sculpture ships fully insured. In the unlikely event of damage during transit:

  1. Report the damage within 48 hours of delivery.
  2. Provide clear photographs of both the damage and the packaging.
  3. We arrange collection and either replacement or full refund at no cost to you.

Lifetime Guarantee

Every sculpture carries a lifetime guarantee against finish defects under normal display conditions, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

This covers manufacturing defects, premature finish degradation, and structural failures under normal display. It does not cover damage caused by accidents, misuse, inappropriate environments (for example, an indoor-only sculpture placed outdoors), or modifications made after delivery.
