Giant Sculptures Monumental Traditional Winged Dragon on Orb Bronze Sculpture 180cm, wings spread and clawed feet gripping a sphere, on a plain background.
Monumental Traditional Winged Dragon on Orb Bronze Sculpture - 180cm $105,51100
Description

The Monumental Winged Dragon on Orb Bronze Sculpture stands 180cm tall and commands attention through sheer scale and sculptural authority. A powerfully built dragon crouches atop a large bronze sphere, wings thrust wide, long neck extended forward and downward, tail coiling around the base of the orb, and clawed legs gripping its surface with deliberate tension.

Cast Bronze, Hand-Finished

This sculpture is produced using the lost-wax casting method, which allows the full complexity of its surface to be rendered in precise detail: the overlapping scale plates across the body, the stretched membrane of the bat-like wings, the dorsal spines running from neck to tail, and the branching deer-like antlers above the beak-shaped snout. The dark brown to near-black patina is applied and burnished by hand, revealing warm reddish-brown highlights on every raised surface. The result is a hand-finished bronze patina with genuine depth, not a uniform coating.

The sculpture is supplied on a square pale grey granite plinth, which grounds the piece and frames the bronze's warm tonal range. At 180cm and 400kg, this is a work suited to formal entrance halls, double-height lobbies, covered colonnades, commercial courtyards, and large outdoor terraces. The granite plinth is weather-resistant; the bronze develops a natural protective patina in outdoor conditions and requires only minimal maintenance. The sculpture reads equally well against stone, dark timber, or rendered finishes.

Handmade to Order, Fully Customisable

We can adjust the patina finish, from a lighter antique bronze through to a deep ebony black with gilded highlights. Scale variations are available on commission, and the piece can be produced without the granite plinth if a site-specific base is preferred. If you are working with a specific site, brief, or architectural context inspired by the work of Fernando Botero-adjacent monumental traditions or classical heraldic dragon iconography, please contact us before ordering so we can discuss the commission in detail.
