The Monumental Classical Christ Carrying the Cross Bronze Sculpture stands at an imposing 240cm, presenting a three-figure narrative of extraordinary emotional weight and compositional drama. A crouching Christ bears a large diagonal cross at the centre, flanked by a Roman legionary in full armour and a standing female figure holding aloft a cloth bearing the face of Christ in relief.
This large bronze religious sculpture is produced using the traditional lost-wax casting method, a technique that allows the finest surface detail to survive the transition from modelled form to finished metal. Every element rewards close inspection: the articulated segmented armour and crested helmet of the soldier, the twisted crown of thorns, the deep folds of draped fabric, and the delicate face in relief on Veronica's veil. The surface carries a hand-applied antique bronze patina, with dark brown tones across the figures deepening to heavier green verdigris across the cross and drapery folds, lending the piece an authenticity and depth consistent with centuries of sacred bronze tradition. The integrated rocky terrain base is cast as one continuous form, grounding the composition naturally without the need for a separate plinth.
At 240cm and weighing 1,000kg, this is a piece conceived for significant architectural settings. It is equally at home in a church interior, a cathedral close, a private chapel, a formal garden, or the entrance court of a substantial estate or institution. The warm antique bronze tones work beautifully against stone, render, timber, and mature planting alike.
We offer the full range of bronze patina finishes, from polished warm gold to deep museum black, as well as commissions inspired by the work of Fernando Botero or other figurative traditions on request. Scale can be adjusted for interior installation or to meet specific site requirements. Please contact us before ordering if you have specific installation constraints, patina preferences, or dimensional requirements, and we will confirm feasibility and lead time before production begins.
