Description

A ribbon wound up on itself and standing on a square block wider than the ribbon is, every face of it the same flat silver grey. A matt silver grey holds every surface and none of it is transparent anywhere, which sets it apart from a clear spiral. A deep square black block is supplied, wider than the spiral standing on it.

A Column That Happens to Turn

Made opaque, the same spiral stops pretending: it reads as a solid column that happens to turn. Opacity changes what a spiral is for. The clear ones are about what you can see through the turns; this one is about the shadow each turn throws on the one beneath, and it needs a wall behind it rather than a window. An opaque body this size is a different problem from a tinted one: the grey has to read the same at the foot and at the top or the turns stop looking like one object. Matt, and the turns are described by shading alone with no reflection anywhere to help.

A hall or a wide landing, with enough floor around the block that the block is read as part of the piece. Almost anything will do behind it, which is what an opaque body buys and a clear spiral cannot offer. A raking source picks out each turn in sequence; anything flat makes the whole column one grey shape. The silhouette carries a long way and nothing else about it does.

Bringing It to a Polish, and Delivery

Every standard piece is made in 3–4 weeks, and every bespoke commission in 5–6. The grey is taken toward bronze, the surface is polished, and the block is cut shallower. Polish it and the grey has to be re-chosen, because one colour reads darker off a gloss surface than off a matt one. The block is set and levelled first, then the spiral lowered onto it. Two people throughout. Two people. It is heavier than the clear spirals at the same height because none of it is hollow. Our main studios are in the UK (Birmingham) and Dubai, with additional global workshops.

Production Time

Almost every sculpture is handmade to order by our artisans — we do not mass-produce.

  • Standard sculptures: approximately 3–4 weeks from order confirmation.
  • Bespoke commissions (custom sizes, finishes, or fully custom designs): approximately 5–6 weeks from design sign-off.

Production time is separate from delivery time.

Free Worldwide Shipping

Shipping is free worldwide on every sculpture, regardless of size or destination. Standard delivery is by sea freight, typically 6–8 weeks after production is complete.

Express air freight is available on request at additional cost, with delivery in up to 10 days. Ask us before placing your order, or straight after, and we will confirm the cost for your destination.

All sculptures ship in reinforced protective crating, fully insured to purchase value.

Delivery to Your Address

Delivery is to the door or curbside at your shipping address.

For larger sculptures shipped by sea freight, the carrier will contact you in advance to arrange a delivery window. Please ensure someone is available to accept the delivery and that the property has suitable access for the size of the piece.

Once the sculpture arrives, you are responsible for positioning it in its final display location. For larger or heavier pieces, we recommend arranging two people (family, friends, or a local moving service) to help with placement.

International Orders & Customs

For orders shipping outside the United Kingdom, any customs duties, import taxes, or local fees at your destination country are the responsibility of the customer. These charges are set by your local authority and are not included in our shipping cost.

If you have questions about customs for your specific country, contact us before ordering and we can advise on typical charges for your region.

Returns

Where an order qualifies, we accept returns within 14 days of receipt, in original condition and original packaging, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

Because our sculptures are made individually, most orders do not qualify. Returns do not apply to any item that is not held in stock, is made to order, or is custom or bespoke.

To check whether your order qualifies, contact us within 14 days of receipt. On a qualifying return, return shipping is at the customer's cost, a 25% restocking fee applies, and original shipping charges are not refunded.

Damage in Transit

Every sculpture ships fully insured. In the unlikely event of damage during transit:

  1. Report the damage within 48 hours of delivery.
  2. Provide clear photographs of both the damage and the packaging.
  3. We arrange collection and either replacement or full refund at no cost to you.

Lifetime Guarantee

Every sculpture carries a lifetime guarantee against finish defects under normal display conditions, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

This covers manufacturing defects, premature finish degradation, and structural failures under normal display. It does not cover damage caused by accidents, misuse, inappropriate environments (for example, an indoor-only sculpture placed outdoors), or modifications made after delivery.
