A matt charcoal bowl, lipped at one side and standing on a short drum. The charcoal surface returns almost no highlight, so what is read is the change of section as the rim is drawn out into the lip rather than the light falling across it. The rim runs out into the lip rather than a spout being added to it. The drum beneath is turned from the body itself and no separate stand is included.
The lip is the whole piece and it is made by not adding anything. A spout applied to a bowl reads as a fitting, and the eye finds the join immediately however well it is done. Here the rim is drawn out at one point and the wall thins through the drawing, so the lip is the same material running thinner rather than a second piece meeting the first. That is why it can be so long without looking stuck on. The matt finish is what lets the decision be seen at all. A polished surface on a form this simple returns highlights along every curve, and the highlights describe the light in the room rather than the shape of the bowl. Matt returns almost nothing, so what reaches the eye is the change of section as the rim runs out into the lip, which on a gloss vessel would be lost in reflection within a hand's width of the spout.
At 41cm it is a table piece and reads best looked down into, so a low table, an island or a broad console all suit. It is a sculpture rather than a serving vessel and is not made for food or liquid, but it holds its shape well with something dry in it. The matt surface takes marks from fingers less than a gloss one does, which makes it easier to live with on a working surface than most of the range.
From order, a standard piece runs to 3–4 weeks and a bespoke commission to 5–6. The lip is drawn further out, the drum is made longer, and the matt grey is lightened or taken to black. The vessel is made at other diameters, and the wall is drawn thinner at the rim for a sharper line into the lip. A polished finish is offered and gives a quite different object, brighter and much harder to read, since the highlights obscure exactly the change of section the piece is built around. It travels in one case bedded on the drum rather than on the rim, with the lip packed out separately, because the lip is the thinnest material in the casting. Our main studios are in the UK (Birmingham) and Dubai, with additional global workshops.
A bowl with a drawn-out lip belongs with our art furniture; matt charcoal resin leads to our resin sculptures, and a vessel on a drum foot for a long table joins our indoor sculptures.

Almost every sculpture is handmade to order by our artisans — we do not mass-produce.
Production time is separate from delivery time.
Shipping is free worldwide on every sculpture, regardless of size or destination. Standard delivery is by sea freight, typically 6–8 weeks after production is complete.
Express air freight is available on request at additional cost, with delivery in up to 10 days. Ask us before placing your order, or straight after, and we will confirm the cost for your destination.
All sculptures ship in reinforced protective crating, fully insured to purchase value.
Delivery is to the door or curbside at your shipping address.
For larger sculptures shipped by sea freight, the carrier will contact you in advance to arrange a delivery window. Please ensure someone is available to accept the delivery and that the property has suitable access for the size of the piece.
Once the sculpture arrives, you are responsible for positioning it in its final display location. For larger or heavier pieces, we recommend arranging two people (family, friends, or a local moving service) to help with placement.
For orders shipping outside the United Kingdom, any customs duties, import taxes, or local fees at your destination country are the responsibility of the customer. These charges are set by your local authority and are not included in our shipping cost.
If you have questions about customs for your specific country, contact us before ordering and we can advise on typical charges for your region.
Where an order qualifies, we accept returns within 14 days of receipt, in original condition and original packaging, subject to our Terms & Conditions.
Because our sculptures are made individually, most orders do not qualify. Returns do not apply to any item that is not held in stock, is made to order, or is custom or bespoke.
To check whether your order qualifies, contact us within 14 days of receipt. On a qualifying return, return shipping is at the customer's cost, a 25% restocking fee applies, and original shipping charges are not refunded.
Every sculpture ships fully insured. In the unlikely event of damage during transit:
Every sculpture carries a lifetime guarantee against finish defects under normal display conditions, subject to our Terms & Conditions.
This covers manufacturing defects, premature finish degradation, and structural failures under normal display. It does not cover damage caused by accidents, misuse, inappropriate environments (for example, an indoor-only sculpture placed outdoors), or modifications made after delivery.
If you have questions about shipping, customs, delivery timing, or anything else before you order, our team is here to help. Contact us via WhatsApp, email, or phone, and we'll respond within 24 hours.
