Matt Blue Hatted Lady Figure Resin Sculpture (103cm) by Giant Sculptures, an abstract figure in matt blue resin on a black block base, shown against a plain light background.
Matt Blue Hatted Lady Figure Resin Sculpture - 103cm $2,76900
Description

A hatted woman in matt blue resin, the same figure under the same broad brim, balanced the same way with the skirt trailing, but solid blue from the hat down to the hem. One deep blue holds the whole body with no graduation in it, so the figure is read by its outline alone. The black block comes with it and carries the figure on a single point of contact.

A Figure Read as Mass

The same figure made opaque stops being a claim about balance and becomes one about mass. Take the transparency away and the pose has to carry the whole piece on its own, so the angle of the hat and the line of the trailing skirt are doing work here that colour does on the other two. An opaque body has to be sound right the way through, because the colour gives a flaw nowhere to hide behind. Matt throughout, so the figure is read as a solid rather than as something light passes into.

A hallway or a landing, where it can be seen against a wall rather than in a window. It asks very little of the wall, and a dark ground or a patterned one will do it no harm at all. Soft light suits it. A hard source picks out the matt surface as texture and the figure stops reading as one mass. The outline does all the work at a distance, and there is nothing else to find close to.

Polishing It Out, and Getting It There

Set aside 3–4 weeks for a standard piece and 5–6 weeks for a bespoke commission. The blue is lightened, the matt is polished out, and the skirt is drawn further behind the foot. Polish it and the blue has to be lightened, since a gloss surface returns less of the body than a matt one does. A second version is made glossy in blue and clear, and it stands as a different object at the same height. Two parts, one crate, and nothing to fix once the block is down. One person, and the waist is the place to take hold of it. Our main studios are in the UK (Birmingham) and Dubai, with additional global workshops.

More figures made for a landing or a hallway are in our indoor sculptures, while opaque, single-colour castings sit among our resin sculptures and our contemporary and modern sculptures.

Shipping & Returns

Almost every sculpture at Giant Sculptures is handmade to order, then shipped worldwide free of charge. Below is everything you need to know before you order, and what to expect after.

Production Time

Almost every sculpture is handmade to order by our artisans — we do not mass-produce.

  • Standard sculptures: approximately 3–4 weeks from order confirmation.
  • Bespoke commissions (custom sizes, finishes, or fully custom designs): approximately 5–6 weeks from design sign-off.

Production time is separate from delivery time.

Free Worldwide Shipping

Shipping is free worldwide on every sculpture, regardless of size or destination. Standard delivery is by sea freight, typically 6–8 weeks after production is complete.

Express air freight is available on request at additional cost, with delivery in up to 10 days. Ask us before placing your order, or straight after, and we will confirm the cost for your destination.

All sculptures ship in reinforced protective crating, fully insured to purchase value.

Delivery to Your Address

Delivery is to the door or curbside at your shipping address.

For larger sculptures shipped by sea freight, the carrier will contact you in advance to arrange a delivery window. Please ensure someone is available to accept the delivery and that the property has suitable access for the size of the piece.

Once the sculpture arrives, you are responsible for positioning it in its final display location. For larger or heavier pieces, we recommend arranging two people (family, friends, or a local moving service) to help with placement.

International Orders & Customs

For orders shipping outside the United Kingdom, any customs duties, import taxes, or local fees at your destination country are the responsibility of the customer. These charges are set by your local authority and are not included in our shipping cost.

If you have questions about customs for your specific country, contact us before ordering and we can advise on typical charges for your region.

Returns

Where an order qualifies, we accept returns within 14 days of receipt, in original condition and original packaging, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

Because our sculptures are made individually, most orders do not qualify. Returns do not apply to any item that is not held in stock, is made to order, or is custom or bespoke.

To check whether your order qualifies, contact us within 14 days of receipt. On a qualifying return, return shipping is at the customer's cost, a 25% restocking fee applies, and original shipping charges are not refunded.

Damage in Transit

Every sculpture ships fully insured. In the unlikely event of damage during transit:

  1. Report the damage within 48 hours of delivery.
  2. Provide clear photographs of both the damage and the packaging.
  3. We arrange collection and either replacement or full refund at no cost to you.

Lifetime Guarantee

Every sculpture carries a lifetime guarantee against finish defects under normal display conditions, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

This covers manufacturing defects, premature finish degradation, and structural failures under normal display. It does not cover damage caused by accidents, misuse, inappropriate environments (for example, an indoor-only sculpture placed outdoors), or modifications made after delivery.
