Magenta & Yellow Split-Edge Gem Acrylic Sculpture - 100cm
Magenta & Yellow Split-Edge Gem Acrylic Sculpture - 100cm $4,81600
Description

A large faceted acrylic sculpture lying on its side, its long axis level, with a broad front of magenta faces running between two pointed ends. The film returns hot magenta right across that front, deepening to rose where the faces turn away and with orange moving inside it, and acid yellow on the faces that taper to the point at either end, so the colour is split by the upright edges where the one gives way to the other. A clear crown of faces runs along the top, and there are violet flashes in the deeper facets around the foot.

Magenta One Side of the Edge, Yellow the Other

Where the colour is split by an edge, that edge has to be dead straight for its whole length, and on a gem of this size that is a long way to hold a line on. The faces either side of it are worked together and not in sequence, because material taken off either of them moves the edge, and an edge that wanders at all over that length reads as a mistake rather than as a curve. That is why each cut is continuous: starting and restarting leaves a step, and a step here would sit on the very line everybody looks at. Brought to a crisp arris, the magenta front and the yellow point then meet as two colours with no third colour along the line between them.

A gem this broad belongs on the floor or a low plinth, and the magenta front and a yellow point have to be in view at once for an edge to divide anything, so it needs room in front of it: a hall return, the head of a stair, the far end of a long room, or a wide bay. Set it so the edges run upright as you face it, which is what makes the division read. Daylight crossing it is what it needs. A single spotlight in front flattens the magenta and the yellow into one orange and the edges disappear, which is the whole piece gone.

One Continuous Cut, and Installation

Time separates the two: a bespoke commission takes 5–6 weeks, a standard piece 3–4. The one continuous cut along that edge paces the build, and it cannot be split across two sittings without leaving a step. Its scale and the angle between its faces are drawn for each commission, so the edges can be set running diagonally or the whole gem cut at gallery scale. The films are chosen at order: this magenta and yellow, a blue against a green, or one face left clear so the division is between colour and nothing. It is set down on its side as it lies, taken by the broad faces and never by a yellow point. Our main studios are in the UK (Birmingham) and Dubai, with additional global workshops.

Laid on its side with magenta across the front and yellow at each point, this gem sits among our geometric sculptures, our acrylic sculptures and our indoor sculptures.

Shipping & Returns

Almost every sculpture at Giant Sculptures is handmade to order, then shipped worldwide free of charge. Below is everything you need to know before you order, and what to expect after.

Production Time

Almost every sculpture is handmade to order by our artisans — we do not mass-produce.

  • Standard sculptures: approximately 3–4 weeks from order confirmation.
  • Bespoke commissions (custom sizes, finishes, or fully custom designs): approximately 5–6 weeks from design sign-off.

Production time is separate from delivery time.

Free Worldwide Shipping

Shipping is free worldwide on every sculpture, regardless of size or destination. Standard delivery is by sea freight, typically 6–8 weeks after production is complete.

Express air freight is available on request at additional cost, with delivery in up to 10 days. Ask us before placing your order, or straight after, and we will confirm the cost for your destination.

All sculptures ship in reinforced protective crating, fully insured to purchase value.

Delivery to Your Address

Delivery is to the door or curbside at your shipping address.

For larger sculptures shipped by sea freight, the carrier will contact you in advance to arrange a delivery window. Please ensure someone is available to accept the delivery and that the property has suitable access for the size of the piece.

Once the sculpture arrives, you are responsible for positioning it in its final display location. For larger or heavier pieces, we recommend arranging two people (family, friends, or a local moving service) to help with placement.

International Orders & Customs

For all orders delivered worldwide, all customs duties, import taxes, and applicable local clearance fees are fully included in the purchase price. We manage and settle these charges on your behalf, ensuring you will not incur any additional fees upon arrival.

Please note that this policy excludes shipments delivered to Switzerland, as well as any individual orders where an exclusion is explicitly stated prior to purchase; in such instances, local customs charges and import taxes remain the responsibility of the customer.

If you have questions about customs for your specific country, contact us before ordering and we can advise on typical charges for your region.

Returns

Where an order qualifies, we accept returns within 14 days of receipt, in original condition and original packaging, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

Because our sculptures are made individually, most orders do not qualify. Returns do not apply to any item that is not held in stock, is made to order, or is custom or bespoke.

To check whether your order qualifies, contact us within 14 days of receipt. On a qualifying return, return shipping is at the customer's cost, a 25% restocking fee applies, and original shipping charges are not refunded.

Damage in Transit

Every sculpture ships fully insured. In the unlikely event of damage during transit:

  1. Report the damage within 48 hours of delivery.
  2. Provide clear photographs of both the damage and the packaging.
  3. We arrange collection and either replacement or full refund at no cost to you.

Lifetime Guarantee

Every sculpture carries a lifetime guarantee against finish defects under normal display conditions, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

This covers manufacturing defects, premature finish degradation, and structural failures under normal display. It does not cover damage caused by accidents, misuse, inappropriate environments (for example, an indoor-only sculpture placed outdoors), or modifications made after delivery.
