The Life-Size Walking Bear Bronze Sculpture stands 150cm tall, capturing a full-grown bear mid-stride with a large salmon gripped firmly in its jaws. The composition is arrestingly naturalistic: weight distributed across all four paws, the body carried low with purposeful forward momentum, the head angled slightly downward to secure its catch.
This piece is cast using the traditional lost-wax method, which faithfully preserves every strand of fur texture and the sharp definition of each claw. The surface carries a rich dark brown patina with warm bronze highlights that catch the light across raised fur ridges and along the form of the salmon. Deep chestnut tones settle into the recessed areas of the body, giving the sculpture a depth and warmth that improves with age. As a life-size bronze bear statue of this scale and weight, the casting is substantial: 190kg of solid bronze, finished entirely by hand.
The piece suits a broad range of settings. Outdoors, it reads powerfully in landscaped gardens, stone-paved courtyards, and natural woodland clearings where the dark patina mirrors bark and earth tones. Indoors, it commands any large entrance hall, corporate atrium, or double-height living space. The traditional figurative style works equally well against raw stone, pale render, and richly panelled interiors.
The patina shown is a traditional dark brown finish, but we offer alternatives including a mid-tone natural bronze, a verde green, and a polished warm gold highlight finish. Scale adjustments and fully bespoke commissions are available, including custom salmon species, altered pose, or repositioned head angle inspired by specific reference imagery. Contact us before ordering to discuss any modifications.
