The Large Classical Winged Sphinx Bronze Sculpture stands 140cm tall, presenting the ancient chimeric form of a female human torso rising from a lion body, broad feathered wings spread behind in arrested motion. The figure reclines in composed stillness, forepaws stretched forward across the plinth surface, head turned with a steady, contemplative gaze.
Cast using the traditional lost-wax method, this piece achieves the fine surface resolution that defines gallery-grade bronze sculpture. Every feather in the wings, every contour of the torso, and every claw at the lion paws has been individually refined by hand after casting. The warm golden-amber patina builds depth across the surface, with high reflectivity catching light on the raised planes of the wings and facial features. A decorative circular labyrinth relief element accompanies the piece, positioned on the plinth foreground to complete the composition.
At 140cm and 450kg, this is a commanding presence suited to formal entranceways, grand hall settings, walled gardens, landscaped terraces, and institutional or civic spaces. The warm bronze tones sit naturally against natural stone, pale rendered walls, dark timber, or open green landscape. Bronze weathers with integrity outdoors, developing a deepening patina over time while requiring no structural maintenance.
Patina options include the default warm golden-amber, a cooler dark brown, verdigris green, and blackened finishes. Scale variations are available on request, from reduced interior editions to monumental commissions exceeding the standard dimensions. The composition can also be developed as an inspired-by bespoke piece. Contact us before ordering to discuss any customisation requirements.
