The Large Classical Recumbent Egyptian Sphinx Bronze Sculpture stands 180cm in height and commands immediate presence: a pharaonic lion body lying flat, forelegs extended, a serene human face framed by the iconic nemes headdress and gazing forward with timeless authority.
This sculpture is produced using the lost-wax casting method, a process that preserves every carved detail with exceptional fidelity. The chest panel carries genuine hieroglyphic and cartouche relief carvings, the striped lappets of the headdress fall naturally over the shoulders, and the lion paws show individually rendered claws. A deep dark brown patina covers the surface consistently, with subtle lighter highlights emerging on raised planes, giving the piece the weight and gravity of ancient stonework rendered in bronze. The hand-finished bronze surface is sealed against corrosion, requiring no specialist maintenance.
At 180cm and 420kg, this is a centrepiece sculpture suited to grand entrance halls, hotel lobbies, corporate atriums, or formal garden courtyards. Its dark bronze tone reads well against pale stone, rendered plaster, dark timber, and mature landscaped settings alike. The piece is fully rated for outdoor placement and performs equally well as an indoor statement work.
The patina can be specified to your preference: dark brown as shown, classic verdigris green, or a warm natural bronze. Scale variations are available, from architectural garden proportions down to interior-scale commissions. For clients seeking a fully bespoke version, including custom cartouche inscriptions or personalised hieroglyphic panels inspired by the work of ancient Egyptian craftsmen, contact us before ordering to discuss your requirements in detail.
