A tub armchair cast in resin. The back rises and curves round on both sides into arms that sweep down and forward, so the shell is continuous from one arm to the other. Its whole surface is finely fluted, with close vertical ribs running from the rim down through the body and on into a skirt below the seat, which opens at the front in one wide, low arch. Colour is graduated: nearly clear at the rim, deep emerald at the feet.
The fluting does two things at once. Optically it breaks the surface into dozens of narrow vertical strips, each holding its own value, so a chair made of transparent material reads as a striped volume rather than as a window. And structurally it gives the eye something to follow: the ribs converge slightly as they descend the back, spread as they cross the arms and carry straight on down the skirt, so the form is legible from any angle without a single hard edge on it. Against that the seat is the one quiet part, a shallow dished pan set into the shell with a smooth rolled front lip and no ribbing across it. The gradient is arranged so the two arms hold the palest material and the foot of the skirt the darkest, which visually plants the chair on the floor while keeping its top half light.
At 82cm it is an occasional chair rather than one for dining, and it shows best placed away from a wall, where its face and its flank can both be seen. It suits a garden room, a wide landing, a study or a bedroom corner, and one on its own at the end of a run of upholstered seating is the common use. Light from behind or the side is what the fluting needs: a downlight puts a single bright band across the rim and leaves the rest flat. A pale floor keeps the emerald feet reading as colour rather than as shadow. Indoor use only.
Set aside 3–4 weeks for a standard piece and 5–6 weeks for a bespoke commission. Three things are settled at order. The depth and direction of the colour: emerald at the foot as here, or held at the rim instead, or run through at an even tint, and an amber and a smoke grey are both offered on the same shell. The fluting can be run coarser, which reads bolder and considerably more graphic, or left off the skirt so that a smooth base stands under the ribbed shell. And the seat: bare as here, or with a fitted pad in leather or wool cut to the dish and held by its own weight, which most buyers add where the chair will be sat in for more than a few minutes. Access is worth checking before ordering, because the arms are the widest part of the chair and the shell cannot be dismantled. It travels upright in one crate on a purpose-built pallet, arrives assembled with nothing to fit, and is a two-person carry. Our main studios are in the UK (Birmingham) and Dubai, with additional global workshops.
Fluted from rim to feet and fading from clear to emerald, this shell chair suits our art furniture, our resin sculptures and our indoor sculptures.

Almost every sculpture at Giant Sculptures is handmade to order, then shipped worldwide free of charge. Below is everything you need to know before you order, and what to expect after.
Almost every sculpture is handmade to order by our artisans — we do not mass-produce.
Production time is separate from delivery time.
Shipping is free worldwide on every sculpture, regardless of size or destination. Standard delivery is by sea freight, typically 6–8 weeks after production is complete.
Express air freight is available on request at additional cost, with delivery in up to 10 days. Ask us before placing your order, or straight after, and we will confirm the cost for your destination.
All sculptures ship in reinforced protective crating, fully insured to purchase value.
Delivery is to the door or curbside at your shipping address.
For larger sculptures shipped by sea freight, the carrier will contact you in advance to arrange a delivery window. Please ensure someone is available to accept the delivery and that the property has suitable access for the size of the piece.
Once the sculpture arrives, you are responsible for positioning it in its final display location. For larger or heavier pieces, we recommend arranging two people (family, friends, or a local moving service) to help with placement.
For orders shipping outside the United Kingdom, any customs duties, import taxes, or local fees at your destination country are the responsibility of the customer. These charges are set by your local authority and are not included in our shipping cost.
If you have questions about customs for your specific country, contact us before ordering and we can advise on typical charges for your region.
Where an order qualifies, we accept returns within 14 days of receipt, in original condition and original packaging, subject to our Terms & Conditions.
Because our sculptures are made individually, most orders do not qualify. Returns do not apply to any item that is not held in stock, is made to order, or is custom or bespoke.
To check whether your order qualifies, contact us within 14 days of receipt. On a qualifying return, return shipping is at the customer's cost, a 25% restocking fee applies, and original shipping charges are not refunded.
Every sculpture ships fully insured. In the unlikely event of damage during transit:
Every sculpture carries a lifetime guarantee against finish defects under normal display conditions, subject to our Terms & Conditions.
This covers manufacturing defects, premature finish degradation, and structural failures under normal display. It does not cover damage caused by accidents, misuse, inappropriate environments (for example, an indoor-only sculpture placed outdoors), or modifications made after delivery.
If you have questions about shipping, customs, delivery timing, or anything else before you order, our team is here to help. Contact us via WhatsApp, email, or phone, and we'll respond within 24 hours.
