Green Medallion Back Cast Resin Dining Chair - 87cm
Green Medallion Back Cast Resin Dining Chair - 87cm $3,03500
Description

This dining chair is cast in a translucent green resin. The back is a curved hoop that rises from the rear legs and closes over the top, and inside it, held clear of the frame on two short stubs, hangs an oval panel. Below that a round seat is carried on four legs, the front pair straight and the rear pair swept back. Nothing on the chair is opaque. The green is even through the whole body and darkens only where the section is at its greatest, around the seat rim.

An Oval Panel Held Inside a Bentwood Hoop

The interest is in what the panel does. It hangs inside the hoop rather than filling it, held on two short stubs, so there is a clear gap all the way round and the wall behind the chair shows through that gap as a bright outline. From the front the panel reads as a solid oval; from three quarters it separates from the frame entirely and the chair becomes two shapes rather than one. Because everything is the same green and the same clarity, the only thing separating one member from another is how much material the eye is looking through, so the seat rim and the leg tops read darkest and the thin hoop reads palest. In raking light the whole chair throws a green shadow.

At 87cm the chair takes up very little visual room for its footprint, which suits it to a small table or a crowded one. It reads best against a plain floor, since anything patterned shows straight through the seat and the panel. Set it where light comes from behind or from the side, which is what lifts the green and separates the panel from the hoop. Four round a table works; more than six starts to read as glass. Indoor use only.

The Colour Route, the Panel, and Ordering a Set

Ours is a 3–4 week build as standard, and a 5–6 week build when the commission is bespoke. Three things are open at order. The colour route, which runs this clear green or a smoked amber, both from the same form, and a clear body with no tint at all is also possible. The panel, which can hang clear inside the hoop as it does here, be filled solid to close the back, or be left out entirely for an open frame. And the leg, from these swept rear legs to four straight ones, which changes the chair from a period reading to a plain one. You name the seat height and the width across, and a set is poured together so the tint holds across all of them. Chairs travel two to a crate and one person can carry one. Our main studios are in the UK (Birmingham) and Dubai, with additional global workshops.

A hooped chair with a hanging medallion, it belongs with our art furniture; its clear green casting sits among our resin sculptures, and the piece with our indoor sculptures.

Shipping & Returns

Almost every sculpture at Giant Sculptures is handmade to order, then shipped worldwide free of charge. Below is everything you need to know before you order, and what to expect after.

Production Time

Almost every sculpture is handmade to order by our artisans — we do not mass-produce.

  • Standard sculptures: approximately 3–4 weeks from order confirmation.
  • Bespoke commissions (custom sizes, finishes, or fully custom designs): approximately 5–6 weeks from design sign-off.

Production time is separate from delivery time.

Free Worldwide Shipping

Shipping is free worldwide on every sculpture, regardless of size or destination. Standard delivery is by sea freight, typically 6–8 weeks after production is complete.

Express air freight is available on request at additional cost, with delivery in up to 10 days. Ask us before placing your order, or straight after, and we will confirm the cost for your destination.

All sculptures ship in reinforced protective crating, fully insured to purchase value.

Delivery to Your Address

Delivery is to the door or curbside at your shipping address.

For larger sculptures shipped by sea freight, the carrier will contact you in advance to arrange a delivery window. Please ensure someone is available to accept the delivery and that the property has suitable access for the size of the piece.

Once the sculpture arrives, you are responsible for positioning it in its final display location. For larger or heavier pieces, we recommend arranging two people (family, friends, or a local moving service) to help with placement.

International Orders & Customs

For orders shipping outside the United Kingdom, any customs duties, import taxes, or local fees at your destination country are the responsibility of the customer. These charges are set by your local authority and are not included in our shipping cost.

If you have questions about customs for your specific country, contact us before ordering and we can advise on typical charges for your region.

Returns

Where an order qualifies, we accept returns within 14 days of receipt, in original condition and original packaging, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

Because our sculptures are made individually, most orders do not qualify. Returns do not apply to any item that is not held in stock, is made to order, or is custom or bespoke.

To check whether your order qualifies, contact us within 14 days of receipt. On a qualifying return, return shipping is at the customer's cost, a 25% restocking fee applies, and original shipping charges are not refunded.

Damage in Transit

Every sculpture ships fully insured. In the unlikely event of damage during transit:

  1. Report the damage within 48 hours of delivery.
  2. Provide clear photographs of both the damage and the packaging.
  3. We arrange collection and either replacement or full refund at no cost to you.

Lifetime Guarantee

Every sculpture carries a lifetime guarantee against finish defects under normal display conditions, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

This covers manufacturing defects, premature finish degradation, and structural failures under normal display. It does not cover damage caused by accidents, misuse, inappropriate environments (for example, an indoor-only sculpture placed outdoors), or modifications made after delivery.
