This reception desk stands at counter height, its two ends and its whole front wrapped in green resin worked into a field of crystalline facets. The wrap is lit, so the front reads as a block of green light with each facet's edge drawn bright, and it stops short of the top, which is a solid panel. Behind it the desk is a working carcase.
The facets are irregular rather than repeated, closer to fractured ice than to a cut pattern, and they run round the two ends as well as the front so the piece has no plain side. Lit, the whole wrap glows and no fitting shows anywhere on it; unlit, the same faces read as broken green glass. Every facet is finished by hand, so the pattern differs from one desk to the next. The carcase behind is built of panel board, and polished stainless steel finishes each end at floor level.
It is worked from behind at standing and approached from the front, which suits a hotel or office reception, a showroom welcome desk or a club bar. It takes two people side by side. It needs a dark or mid-toned wall behind it for the lit wrap to register, and it is most effective where the room lighting can be brought down. Indoor use only.
Work on a bespoke commission runs to 5–6 weeks, on a standard piece to 3–4. The back of this desk is the half a receptionist actually uses, so it is worth setting out. Behind the green wrap sits a panel-board carcase with two drawers to each side and open bays above, between and below them, and down the middle a tall knee space under a single shelf bay, wide enough for a chair to pull in. The drawers run on the same side as the operator, not the visitor, and the bays take a printer, a card machine or files. Drawer count and bay heights are specified at order, and the carcase is offered in this pale timber or in a dark stain. A mains connection is required at one end and we supply drawings showing the cable entry and the fixing centres in time for first fix; the circuit is specified as fixed warm, fixed cool or dimmable at order, because it is not a change that can be made later. The desk travels in one crate on its plinths and is unpacked front face out, since the facet arrises are the first thing to meet a doorframe. Our main studios are in the UK (Birmingham) and Dubai, with additional global workshops.
Our art furniture takes in working pieces such as this desk; its plinths link it to our metal sculptures, and their polished finish to our stainless steel sculptures.

Almost every sculpture at Giant Sculptures is handmade to order, then shipped worldwide free of charge. Below is everything you need to know before you order, and what to expect after.
Almost every sculpture is handmade to order by our artisans — we do not mass-produce.
Production time is separate from delivery time.
Shipping is free worldwide on every sculpture, regardless of size or destination. Standard delivery is by sea freight, typically 6–8 weeks after production is complete.
Express air freight is available on request at additional cost, with delivery in up to 10 days. Ask us before placing your order, or straight after, and we will confirm the cost for your destination.
All sculptures ship in reinforced protective crating, fully insured to purchase value.
Delivery is to the door or curbside at your shipping address.
For larger sculptures shipped by sea freight, the carrier will contact you in advance to arrange a delivery window. Please ensure someone is available to accept the delivery and that the property has suitable access for the size of the piece.
Once the sculpture arrives, you are responsible for positioning it in its final display location. For larger or heavier pieces, we recommend arranging two people (family, friends, or a local moving service) to help with placement.
For orders shipping outside the United Kingdom, any customs duties, import taxes, or local fees at your destination country are the responsibility of the customer. These charges are set by your local authority and are not included in our shipping cost.
If you have questions about customs for your specific country, contact us before ordering and we can advise on typical charges for your region.
Where an order qualifies, we accept returns within 14 days of receipt, in original condition and original packaging, subject to our Terms & Conditions.
Because our sculptures are made individually, most orders do not qualify. Returns do not apply to any item that is not held in stock, is made to order, or is custom or bespoke.
To check whether your order qualifies, contact us within 14 days of receipt. On a qualifying return, return shipping is at the customer's cost, a 25% restocking fee applies, and original shipping charges are not refunded.
Every sculpture ships fully insured. In the unlikely event of damage during transit:
Every sculpture carries a lifetime guarantee against finish defects under normal display conditions, subject to our Terms & Conditions.
This covers manufacturing defects, premature finish degradation, and structural failures under normal display. It does not cover damage caused by accidents, misuse, inappropriate environments (for example, an indoor-only sculpture placed outdoors), or modifications made after delivery.
If you have questions about shipping, customs, delivery timing, or anything else before you order, our team is here to help. Contact us via WhatsApp, email, or phone, and we'll respond within 24 hours.
