Green Coral Bowl Cast Resin Sculpture - 40cm
Green Coral Bowl Cast Resin Sculpture - 40cm $3,11300
Description

A cast resin sculpture in the shape of an open bowl, wider than it is tall and tipped slightly so one side rises higher than the other, whose entire wall is made of short rods standing out from the surface. There are hundreds of them, longest and most crowded up one side, where the wall rises into a bristling crest, and thinning along the other to a narrow band that sweeps up into a tapering horn; each has a squared end rather than a point. The colour runs green through the body of the wall and paler turquoise at the tips, so the outer surface reads cooler than the mass behind it. Light passes between the rods, which means the piece has an inside that is visible from outside and no solid surface anywhere.

Cast Whole, Not Assembled

Almost everybody who looks at this assumes it was built rod by rod, and it was not: it comes out of a mould taken off a printed master, whole, which is a much harder way to arrive at the same object and the reason it holds together. Every rod is continuous with the wall rather than glued to it, which is why the piece can be picked up at all. The printed master is where the drawing lies: the angle, the length and the squared end of every rod are set in it, and the casting carries each of them over into the resin, so the crest of long rods and the narrow band that rises to the horn come out exactly as drawn.

This belongs where it can be looked into as well as at: a dining table, a low coffee table, an island or a broad console, at a height where the interior is visible over the rim. It is not a shelf piece, because the whole point is the open structure and a shelf above it puts that in shadow. It should not be used as a vessel. Light from above is unusually good here, because it comes down between the rods and lights the inside, and a dark surface underneath makes the turquoise tips read against their own shadow.

Colour, Density and Careful Handling

Reckon on 3–4 weeks for a standard piece, or 5–6 weeks for a bespoke one. Colour is chosen at order: this green-to-turquoise grading, a single cool tint, an amber, or a clear body where the structure alone does the work. The density and length of the rods are drawn per piece, so a more open version with fewer and longer rods, or a denser one that reads almost as a solid wall, are both available from the same form. Lift it from underneath with both hands, never by the rim, where a closing hand would press across the rods. Our main studios are in the UK (Birmingham) and Dubai, with additional global workshops.

Anything worked this close to something growing sits in organic sculpture, and because the rods are cast rather than built it joins resin sculpture and stays under cover with indoor sculpture.

Shipping & Returns

Almost every sculpture at Giant Sculptures is handmade to order, then shipped worldwide free of charge. Below is everything you need to know before you order, and what to expect after.

Production Time

Almost every sculpture is handmade to order by our artisans — we do not mass-produce.

  • Standard sculptures: approximately 3–4 weeks from order confirmation.
  • Bespoke commissions (custom sizes, finishes, or fully custom designs): approximately 5–6 weeks from design sign-off.

Production time is separate from delivery time.

Free Worldwide Shipping

Shipping is free worldwide on every sculpture, regardless of size or destination. Standard delivery is by sea freight, typically 6–8 weeks after production is complete.

Express air freight is available on request at additional cost, with delivery in up to 10 days. Ask us before placing your order, or straight after, and we will confirm the cost for your destination.

All sculptures ship in reinforced protective crating, fully insured to purchase value.

Delivery to Your Address

Delivery is to the door or curbside at your shipping address.

For larger sculptures shipped by sea freight, the carrier will contact you in advance to arrange a delivery window. Please ensure someone is available to accept the delivery and that the property has suitable access for the size of the piece.

Once the sculpture arrives, you are responsible for positioning it in its final display location. For larger or heavier pieces, we recommend arranging two people (family, friends, or a local moving service) to help with placement.

International Orders & Customs

For all orders delivered worldwide, all customs duties, import taxes, and applicable local clearance fees are fully included in the purchase price. We manage and settle these charges on your behalf, ensuring you will not incur any additional fees upon arrival.

Please note that this policy excludes shipments delivered to Switzerland, as well as any individual orders where an exclusion is explicitly stated prior to purchase; in such instances, local customs charges and import taxes remain the responsibility of the customer.

If you have questions about customs for your specific country, contact us before ordering and we can advise on typical charges for your region.

Returns

Where an order qualifies, we accept returns within 14 days of receipt, in original condition and original packaging, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

Because our sculptures are made individually, most orders do not qualify. Returns do not apply to any item that is not held in stock, is made to order, or is custom or bespoke.

To check whether your order qualifies, contact us within 14 days of receipt. On a qualifying return, return shipping is at the customer's cost, a 25% restocking fee applies, and original shipping charges are not refunded.

Damage in Transit

Every sculpture ships fully insured. In the unlikely event of damage during transit:

  1. Report the damage within 48 hours of delivery.
  2. Provide clear photographs of both the damage and the packaging.
  3. We arrange collection and either replacement or full refund at no cost to you.

Lifetime Guarantee

Every sculpture carries a lifetime guarantee against finish defects under normal display conditions, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

This covers manufacturing defects, premature finish degradation, and structural failures under normal display. It does not cover damage caused by accidents, misuse, inappropriate environments (for example, an indoor-only sculpture placed outdoors), or modifications made after delivery.
