Green & Amber Fractured Ice Gem Acrylic Sculpture - 40cm, faceted geometric block with green and amber interior planes and red flashes, on a plain white background.
Green & Amber Fractured Ice Gem Acrylic Sculpture - 40cm $2,23800
Description

An upright acrylic sculpture with straight sides and one angled shoulder, whose cutting goes inwards: behind the outer shell of large planes there is a second set of faces inside the material, so the block is full of edges that stop before they reach the surface. Green runs through the middle of it with amber standing behind, and there are small red flashes where three interior planes meet.

An Interior Cut as Well as an Outside

The film is carried on those internal planes as well as on the outside, and that is the whole difference between this and a cut solid. A gem worked only on its surface returns colour at the face and clear material behind it; give the interior its own planes and each one returns a colour of its own from a different angle, so the body reads as fractured ice rather than as a block with a coloured skin. The cost of it is order. Every interior face has to be cut and filmed before the outer shell is closed over it, because once the outside is on there is no way back in, and a plane set at the wrong angle inside is permanent. Nothing about the outside can be adjusted afterwards to compensate either, so the interior is set out first and the shell is worked to it.

At 40cm it is met close and from more than one side, which puts it within reach: on the desk itself, on a cabinet top, or at the near end of a console where somebody passes it. The interior is the reason. From a single fixed angle it reads as a coloured block; move a pace and the interior faces come and go. It needs light that gets INTO it rather than onto it, so daylight arriving from one side, or a lamp placed off the axis, is what it wants, and a downlight straight above is not: overhead light fills the top planes and the interior goes dark.

Sequence, Film and Getting It Home

Count on the difference between standard and bespoke: 3–4 weeks or 5–6. The interior sequence is what paces the build here, since nothing inside can be reached once the shell is closed. Facet layout, proportion and the film are drawn per commission, so a version with the interior cut deeper, one worked to a squarer profile, or a set of three at graded heights all come from this design. The film is chosen at order from this green-and-amber, a blue-to-violet, or a warm gold-to-rose. A version cut only on the outside is also made, which is a quieter object and quicker to make. It needs no assembly: set it down and turn it until the interior opens up. Our main studios are in the UK (Birmingham) and Dubai, with additional global workshops.

An interior of cut planes as well as an outer shell puts this in geometric sculpture; the film that colours them belongs to acrylic sculpture; and it keeps that colour indoors, which is where indoor sculpture lives.

Shipping & Returns

Almost every sculpture at Giant Sculptures is handmade to order, then shipped worldwide free of charge. Below is everything you need to know before you order, and what to expect after.

Production Time

Almost every sculpture is handmade to order by our artisans — we do not mass-produce.

  • Standard sculptures: approximately 3–4 weeks from order confirmation.
  • Bespoke commissions (custom sizes, finishes, or fully custom designs): approximately 5–6 weeks from design sign-off.

Production time is separate from delivery time.

Free Worldwide Shipping

Shipping is free worldwide on every sculpture, regardless of size or destination. Standard delivery is by sea freight, typically 6–8 weeks after production is complete.

Express air freight is available on request at additional cost, with delivery in up to 10 days. Ask us before placing your order, or straight after, and we will confirm the cost for your destination.

All sculptures ship in reinforced protective crating, fully insured to purchase value.

Delivery to Your Address

Delivery is to the door or curbside at your shipping address.

For larger sculptures shipped by sea freight, the carrier will contact you in advance to arrange a delivery window. Please ensure someone is available to accept the delivery and that the property has suitable access for the size of the piece.

Once the sculpture arrives, you are responsible for positioning it in its final display location. For larger or heavier pieces, we recommend arranging two people (family, friends, or a local moving service) to help with placement.

International Orders & Customs

For all orders delivered worldwide, all customs duties, import taxes, and applicable local clearance fees are fully included in the purchase price. We manage and settle these charges on your behalf, ensuring you will not incur any additional fees upon arrival.

Please note that this policy excludes shipments delivered to Switzerland, as well as any individual orders where an exclusion is explicitly stated prior to purchase; in such instances, local customs charges and import taxes remain the responsibility of the customer.

If you have questions about customs for your specific country, contact us before ordering and we can advise on typical charges for your region.

Returns

Where an order qualifies, we accept returns within 14 days of receipt, in original condition and original packaging, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

Because our sculptures are made individually, most orders do not qualify. Returns do not apply to any item that is not held in stock, is made to order, or is custom or bespoke.

To check whether your order qualifies, contact us within 14 days of receipt. On a qualifying return, return shipping is at the customer's cost, a 25% restocking fee applies, and original shipping charges are not refunded.

Damage in Transit

Every sculpture ships fully insured. In the unlikely event of damage during transit:

  1. Report the damage within 48 hours of delivery.
  2. Provide clear photographs of both the damage and the packaging.
  3. We arrange collection and either replacement or full refund at no cost to you.

Lifetime Guarantee

Every sculpture carries a lifetime guarantee against finish defects under normal display conditions, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

This covers manufacturing defects, premature finish degradation, and structural failures under normal display. It does not cover damage caused by accidents, misuse, inappropriate environments (for example, an indoor-only sculpture placed outdoors), or modifications made after delivery.
