Gold & Green Cased Boat Metal Sculpture - 65cm, a gold-toned metal hull with green acrylic bars between ribs, on a black and wood base under a clear display case, plain white background.
Gold & Green Cased Boat Metal Sculpture - 65cm $2,91200
Description

A boat in gold-toned metal: a long hull curving up to a point at either end, its side divided by upright ribs, with rough, mottled plates closing the bow and the stern and broken patches of the same plate across the middle. Between the ribs stand upright bars of translucent green acrylic that fill the side of the hull with colour. A rail runs along the gunwale, a frame of two posts and a cross-bar stands amidships, and slim pins rise near the bow and the stern. Two posts carry the boat above a black marble block, and the whole piece stands inside a clear acrylic case on a dark timber base, all four parts included.

A Weathered Gold Hull Filled with Green

The hull is the heart of the piece. Its metal is rough and mottled, bright gold-toned where it catches the light and darkening to an old brown in its hollows, so the boat reads as weathered rather than new, and the plates across its middle are broken into irregular patches, as if worn through. Behind them the green acrylic bars show in every gap, translucent and brightening wherever light falls on them, so the hull seems to hold green water. The rail, the ribs, the pins and the frame amidships are fine members in the same gold tone, which keeps the outline of the boat light above the deep curve of its keel, and the two posts lift it clear of the marble so that curve is seen whole from the side.

Inside its case on a timber base, this is a piece for a surface rather than the floor: a sideboard or a console in a hall, or a wide desk in a study, where it can be looked into from a chair or from standing. The case lets it sit in a busy room or a reception without its rail and pins being caught by a passing hand. Overhead light sets the gold of the hull flaring against its dark patina and brightens the green bars, and against a plain wall the boat's outline stays crisp through the clear case.

The Case, the Timber Base and Carrying It

The standard build is 3–4 weeks and the bespoke build 5–6. As a commission the length of the boat can be changed, its bars set in another colour of acrylic, and the case and the timber base sized to suit, or the case left off so the boat stands open on its block and base. It is sold as one piece, with all four parts together. To move it, carry it level by the timber base with both hands, and never by the case or the boat. Our main studios are in the UK (Birmingham) and Dubai, with additional global workshops.

A gold-toned boat filled with green acrylic and closed in a clear case on timber belongs with our metal sculptures, our contemporary and modern sculptures and our indoor sculptures.

Shipping & Returns

Almost every sculpture at Giant Sculptures is handmade to order, then shipped worldwide free of charge. Below is everything you need to know before you order, and what to expect after.

Production Time

Almost every sculpture is handmade to order by our artisans — we do not mass-produce.

  • Standard sculptures: approximately 3–4 weeks from order confirmation.
  • Bespoke commissions (custom sizes, finishes, or fully custom designs): approximately 5–6 weeks from design sign-off.

Production time is separate from delivery time.

Free Worldwide Shipping

Shipping is free worldwide on every sculpture, regardless of size or destination. Standard delivery is by sea freight, typically 6–8 weeks after production is complete.

Express air freight is available on request at additional cost, with delivery in up to 10 days. Ask us before placing your order, or straight after, and we will confirm the cost for your destination.

All sculptures ship in reinforced protective crating, fully insured to purchase value.

Delivery to Your Address

Delivery is to the door or curbside at your shipping address.

For larger sculptures shipped by sea freight, the carrier will contact you in advance to arrange a delivery window. Please ensure someone is available to accept the delivery and that the property has suitable access for the size of the piece.

Once the sculpture arrives, you are responsible for positioning it in its final display location. For larger or heavier pieces, we recommend arranging two people (family, friends, or a local moving service) to help with placement.

International Orders & Customs

For all orders delivered worldwide, all customs duties, import taxes, and applicable local clearance fees are fully included in the purchase price. We manage and settle these charges on your behalf, ensuring you will not incur any additional fees upon arrival.

Please note that this policy excludes shipments delivered to Switzerland, as well as any individual orders where an exclusion is explicitly stated prior to purchase; in such instances, local customs charges and import taxes remain the responsibility of the customer.

If you have questions about customs for your specific country, contact us before ordering and we can advise on typical charges for your region.

Returns

Where an order qualifies, we accept returns within 14 days of receipt, in original condition and original packaging, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

Because our sculptures are made individually, most orders do not qualify. Returns do not apply to any item that is not held in stock, is made to order, or is custom or bespoke.

To check whether your order qualifies, contact us within 14 days of receipt. On a qualifying return, return shipping is at the customer's cost, a 25% restocking fee applies, and original shipping charges are not refunded.

Damage in Transit

Every sculpture ships fully insured. In the unlikely event of damage during transit:

  1. Report the damage within 48 hours of delivery.
  2. Provide clear photographs of both the damage and the packaging.
  3. We arrange collection and either replacement or full refund at no cost to you.

Lifetime Guarantee

Every sculpture carries a lifetime guarantee against finish defects under normal display conditions, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

This covers manufacturing defects, premature finish degradation, and structural failures under normal display. It does not cover damage caused by accidents, misuse, inappropriate environments (for example, an indoor-only sculpture placed outdoors), or modifications made after delivery.
