Frozen Disc Fluted Metal Drum Low Table - 80cm, a clear resin disc with a rough broken edge on a fluted silver metal drum base, shown on a plain white background.
Frozen Disc Fluted Metal Drum Low Table - 80cm $4,38700
Description

This cast resin and metal low table sets a thick clear disc, frozen rough through its whole depth and left with a broken, unpolished rim, on a drum of closely set vertical polished rods. The rods pick up the room and repeat it in a hundred narrow strips, so the base reads as light and the disc above it reads as ice.

A Frozen Disc on a Cage of Polished Rods

The frozen texture runs right through the disc rather than sitting on its faces, and the rim is left broken where the casting finished rather than being trimmed to a line. Each rod in the drum is polished separately and they are set to a common circle, which is slow: one rod out of line shows as a break in the strip of light that runs round the base. The disc is bedded onto the drum so nothing bears on a single point, and the underside of the disc is polished as well, because the rods below throw the light straight back up through it.

It is a coffee table to stand among chairs, and with no corners it needs no lining up with a sofa or squaring to a rug. The polished base repeats whatever floor it stands on, so a timber or a stone floor suits it far better than a patterned carpet, which it will multiply straight back at you.

The Drum, the Rim, and What Reflects Where

Standard pieces take 3–4 weeks and bespoke commissions 5–6. The fluted drum sets the pace here. Three aspects can be specified. The rod pitch can be opened up or closed down, the drum is offered in a brushed finish, and the disc can be supplied tinted. Both the disc diameter and the drum height are yours to set. Several ordered together are worked so that the density of the frozen texture agrees. Its crate is shaped round the broken disc rim and the polished rods, and two people lift it from there. Our main studios are in the UK (Birmingham) and Dubai, with additional global workshops.

A frozen disc on a drum of polished rods gives our art furniture a low table; the ice and light suit our contemporary and modern sculptures, and a stone-floored room among our indoor sculptures.

Shipping & Returns

Almost every sculpture at Giant Sculptures is handmade to order, then shipped worldwide free of charge. Below is everything you need to know before you order, and what to expect after.

Production Time

Almost every sculpture is handmade to order by our artisans — we do not mass-produce.

  • Standard sculptures: approximately 3–4 weeks from order confirmation.
  • Bespoke commissions (custom sizes, finishes, or fully custom designs): approximately 5–6 weeks from design sign-off.

Production time is separate from delivery time.

Free Worldwide Shipping

Shipping is free worldwide on every sculpture, regardless of size or destination. Standard delivery is by sea freight, typically 6–8 weeks after production is complete.

Express air freight is available on request at additional cost, with delivery in up to 10 days. Ask us before placing your order, or straight after, and we will confirm the cost for your destination.

All sculptures ship in reinforced protective crating, fully insured to purchase value.

Delivery to Your Address

Delivery is to the door or curbside at your shipping address.

For larger sculptures shipped by sea freight, the carrier will contact you in advance to arrange a delivery window. Please ensure someone is available to accept the delivery and that the property has suitable access for the size of the piece.

Once the sculpture arrives, you are responsible for positioning it in its final display location. For larger or heavier pieces, we recommend arranging two people (family, friends, or a local moving service) to help with placement.

International Orders & Customs

For orders shipping outside the United Kingdom, any customs duties, import taxes, or local fees at your destination country are the responsibility of the customer. These charges are set by your local authority and are not included in our shipping cost.

If you have questions about customs for your specific country, contact us before ordering and we can advise on typical charges for your region.

Returns

Where an order qualifies, we accept returns within 14 days of receipt, in original condition and original packaging, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

Because our sculptures are made individually, most orders do not qualify. Returns do not apply to any item that is not held in stock, is made to order, or is custom or bespoke.

To check whether your order qualifies, contact us within 14 days of receipt. On a qualifying return, return shipping is at the customer's cost, a 25% restocking fee applies, and original shipping charges are not refunded.

Damage in Transit

Every sculpture ships fully insured. In the unlikely event of damage during transit:

  1. Report the damage within 48 hours of delivery.
  2. Provide clear photographs of both the damage and the packaging.
  3. We arrange collection and either replacement or full refund at no cost to you.

Lifetime Guarantee

Every sculpture carries a lifetime guarantee against finish defects under normal display conditions, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

This covers manufacturing defects, premature finish degradation, and structural failures under normal display. It does not cover damage caused by accidents, misuse, inappropriate environments (for example, an indoor-only sculpture placed outdoors), or modifications made after delivery.
