Frosted Bridled Horse Head Cast Resin Sculpture, 49cm, with raised foreleg and clear polished bridle details, shown on a plain white background.
Frosted Bridled Horse Head Cast Resin Sculpture - 49cm $2,69900
Description

The head on this cast resin sculpture is turned slightly away and carried high on a long arched neck, with one foreleg raised and folded up beneath the chest. Everything is frosted: the muzzle, the jaw, the mane and the neck all read as a soft matt white. Over that runs a bridle - a browband, a cheekpiece and a noseband - polished clear so it catches the light while the animal beneath it does not. The whole thing stands on a block of clear resin left rough where it was cut.

A Strap That Reads as Leather Without Being It

One material and two finishes is what makes the harness work. The straps are not a separate part: they stand just proud of the head and are taken to a full polish while everything round them is frosted, so the eye reads them as leather over hair without any change of substance. That means masking the polish exactly at the edge of every strap along its whole length, and a polish that creeps a hair's breadth onto the cheek shows as a smear because a frosted surface beside a bright one has no tolerance at all. The buckles and the browband boss are the finest work and are cut after the straps are polished. The plinth is deliberately left as it came off the saw, which is the one unfinished surface on the piece and is meant to be.

A head is met face on and slightly below its own eye line, so a console, a desk or a mantel serves it better than a low table. It wants a plain wall behind it: the frost has no colour of its own and a patterned ground reads straight through the outline. A light set to one side is what parts the polished harness from the matt head; a flat frontal light collapses the two into one surface. It sits well in a study or an office, where it is looked at from a chair.

Finish, the Plinth and Handling on Arrival

Ordinarily a standard piece needs 3–4 weeks and a bespoke commission 5–6. The bridle can be taken off entirely for a plain frosted head, or gilded in gold, silver or copper against the frost. The whole head is offered polished rather than frosted, which is a different object, and a tint of amber, smoke or grey runs through the resin. The plinth is made smooth and square instead of rough-cut, or in a black stone or a dark timber. Scale is cut to order, and a mirror-image head can be made for a pair. Head and plinth arrive together in one fitted crate, already joined, and one person can place it holding the neck. Our main studios are in the UK (Birmingham) and Dubai, with additional global workshops.

A bridled horse head in frost belongs with our horse sculptures; a foreleg folded beneath an arched neck leads to our animal sculptures, and clear straps against matt white join our resin sculptures.

Shipping & Returns

Almost every sculpture at Giant Sculptures is handmade to order, then shipped worldwide free of charge. Below is everything you need to know before you order, and what to expect after.

Production Time

Almost every sculpture is handmade to order by our artisans — we do not mass-produce.

  • Standard sculptures: approximately 3–4 weeks from order confirmation.
  • Bespoke commissions (custom sizes, finishes, or fully custom designs): approximately 5–6 weeks from design sign-off.

Production time is separate from delivery time.

Free Worldwide Shipping

Shipping is free worldwide on every sculpture, regardless of size or destination. Standard delivery is by sea freight, typically 6–8 weeks after production is complete.

Express air freight is available on request at additional cost, with delivery in up to 10 days. Ask us before placing your order, or straight after, and we will confirm the cost for your destination.

All sculptures ship in reinforced protective crating, fully insured to purchase value.

Delivery to Your Address

Delivery is to the door or curbside at your shipping address.

For larger sculptures shipped by sea freight, the carrier will contact you in advance to arrange a delivery window. Please ensure someone is available to accept the delivery and that the property has suitable access for the size of the piece.

Once the sculpture arrives, you are responsible for positioning it in its final display location. For larger or heavier pieces, we recommend arranging two people (family, friends, or a local moving service) to help with placement.

International Orders & Customs

For orders shipping outside the United Kingdom, any customs duties, import taxes, or local fees at your destination country are the responsibility of the customer. These charges are set by your local authority and are not included in our shipping cost.

If you have questions about customs for your specific country, contact us before ordering and we can advise on typical charges for your region.

Returns

Where an order qualifies, we accept returns within 14 days of receipt, in original condition and original packaging, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

Because our sculptures are made individually, most orders do not qualify. Returns do not apply to any item that is not held in stock, is made to order, or is custom or bespoke.

To check whether your order qualifies, contact us within 14 days of receipt. On a qualifying return, return shipping is at the customer's cost, a 25% restocking fee applies, and original shipping charges are not refunded.

Damage in Transit

Every sculpture ships fully insured. In the unlikely event of damage during transit:

  1. Report the damage within 48 hours of delivery.
  2. Provide clear photographs of both the damage and the packaging.
  3. We arrange collection and either replacement or full refund at no cost to you.

Lifetime Guarantee

Every sculpture carries a lifetime guarantee against finish defects under normal display conditions, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

This covers manufacturing defects, premature finish degradation, and structural failures under normal display. It does not cover damage caused by accidents, misuse, inappropriate environments (for example, an indoor-only sculpture placed outdoors), or modifications made after delivery.
