Forged Steel & Red Resin Two-Half Low Table - 105cm
Forged Steel & Red Resin Two-Half Low Table - 105cm $9,37800
Description

A low table made in two halves, its outline a run of soft lobes all the way round, each lobe continuing straight down its vertical face. The halves meet across the top along a wavy line, each edge following the curves of the other. One half is forged stainless steel, dark and so highly polished that it reads almost black; the other is a deep red resin streaked through with darker grain. The steel is the left half and the red the right.

A Wavy Seam Between Polished Steel and Red Resin

Two different materials make this table rather than two tints of one, so the join runs between metal and casting. That changes everything about how the halves behave. The steel is opaque and mirror-polished, so it reflects the floor and the room as a compressed dark band and gives away nothing of its own thickness. The red is dense with grain, dark streaks running down through it like the figure in a polished hardwood, deepening to maroon under the top edge and brightening towards the floor. Between them the wavy join runs as a narrow dark groove, and because the two materials take light so differently it reads as the hardest edge on the object from any angle.

This is a coffee table to stand among low seating, and it wants to be walked round: from one side it is a dark polished mass, from the other a streaked red one, and only from the front or from above do both halves and the join read together. The top is level in both halves. On a pale floor the grain of the red half shows clearly; on a dark one the steel half becomes a mirror of the room. It is worth keeping clear of a wall so the lobed plan can be followed. Indoors only.

Where the Line Runs, and Which Half Is Metal

Every standard piece is made in 3–4 weeks, and every bespoke commission in 5–6. The forging is what accounts for the work. Where the join runs is the first decision, from this wandering interlock through to a simple curve or a straight cut across, and each gives a quite different object. Which half is metal is second, since a right-hand steel half reverses the whole reading in a room lit from one side. The third is the pairing itself: steel with red as here, steel with clear, or two resin halves for a piece with no metal in it at all. Plan and height are drawn to your own outline. It arrives on a purpose-built pallet in one crate, already joined, and a table with a steel half of this size wants four people. Our main studios are in the UK (Birmingham) and Dubai, with additional global workshops.

Forged steel against streaked red resin makes this low table part of our art furniture; the metal half ties it to our metal sculptures, and the polished finish to our stainless steel sculptures.

Shipping & Returns

Almost every sculpture at Giant Sculptures is handmade to order, then shipped worldwide free of charge. Below is everything you need to know before you order, and what to expect after.

Production Time

Almost every sculpture is handmade to order by our artisans — we do not mass-produce.

  • Standard sculptures: approximately 3–4 weeks from order confirmation.
  • Bespoke commissions (custom sizes, finishes, or fully custom designs): approximately 5–6 weeks from design sign-off.

Production time is separate from delivery time.

Free Worldwide Shipping

Shipping is free worldwide on every sculpture, regardless of size or destination. Standard delivery is by sea freight, typically 6–8 weeks after production is complete.

Express air freight is available on request at additional cost, with delivery in up to 10 days. Ask us before placing your order, or straight after, and we will confirm the cost for your destination.

All sculptures ship in reinforced protective crating, fully insured to purchase value.

Delivery to Your Address

Delivery is to the door or curbside at your shipping address.

For larger sculptures shipped by sea freight, the carrier will contact you in advance to arrange a delivery window. Please ensure someone is available to accept the delivery and that the property has suitable access for the size of the piece.

Once the sculpture arrives, you are responsible for positioning it in its final display location. For larger or heavier pieces, we recommend arranging two people (family, friends, or a local moving service) to help with placement.

International Orders & Customs

For orders shipping outside the United Kingdom, any customs duties, import taxes, or local fees at your destination country are the responsibility of the customer. These charges are set by your local authority and are not included in our shipping cost.

If you have questions about customs for your specific country, contact us before ordering and we can advise on typical charges for your region.

Returns

Where an order qualifies, we accept returns within 14 days of receipt, in original condition and original packaging, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

Because our sculptures are made individually, most orders do not qualify. Returns do not apply to any item that is not held in stock, is made to order, or is custom or bespoke.

To check whether your order qualifies, contact us within 14 days of receipt. On a qualifying return, return shipping is at the customer's cost, a 25% restocking fee applies, and original shipping charges are not refunded.

Damage in Transit

Every sculpture ships fully insured. In the unlikely event of damage during transit:

  1. Report the damage within 48 hours of delivery.
  2. Provide clear photographs of both the damage and the packaging.
  3. We arrange collection and either replacement or full refund at no cost to you.

Lifetime Guarantee

Every sculpture carries a lifetime guarantee against finish defects under normal display conditions, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

This covers manufacturing defects, premature finish degradation, and structural failures under normal display. It does not cover damage caused by accidents, misuse, inappropriate environments (for example, an indoor-only sculpture placed outdoors), or modifications made after delivery.
