Folded Clear Slab & Gold Block Resin Bench, 260cm, with a frosted clear resin plank bending into a floor foot and a hollowed matt gold block base, shown on a plain white background.
Folded Clear Slab & Gold Block Resin Bench - 260cm $23,15400
Description

Frosted clear resin makes the long plank of this bench, level for most of its run until, at one end, it bends sharply downward to meet the floor on a foot of its own. At the other end it is carried on a block finished in matt gold whose faces are worked into deep irregular hollows, as though material has been washed out of them, and that block is where the two versions part: one is supplied with it and one is the slab on its own. Between the two supports the slab spans open. Its upper face is coarsely textured and its underside left smooth.

A Slab That Folds Down to the Floor

The piece is asymmetric on purpose and the two ends do quite different jobs. At one end the slab simply turns through a right angle and drops to the floor, standing on its own folded foot, so the material is both top and leg with no join between them. At the other it sits on a block finished in matt gold whose faces are worked into deep irregular hollows, opaque where the slab is translucent and rough where the slab is flat. Between the two the slab spans open with nothing beneath it. Its upper face is coarsely textured, which is what makes it read as ice rather than glass, while the underside is left smooth so the span looks thinner than it is.

It is a hall or gallery piece and it needs a long run of clear wall. It has a definite orientation: the gold block should sit at the end people arrive from, and the folded end reads best against open floor. The floor under both must be level, because one end stands on resin and the other on the block. Very heavy, arrives in parts, six people. Indoors.

The Fold, the Block, and Delivery

Once ordered, a standard piece takes 3–4 weeks and a bespoke one 5–6. Most of it is the folded end, and that end is on both versions. Three things can change. The length is open, the gold block can be finished in silver or a dark bronze, and the slab is offered clear as well as frosted. Which end the fold falls on is your choice. Tell us the overall length and the top thickness. Put the whole order in at once and the pattern eroded into the gold block carries across every piece. Packed with the folded end where the slab meets the floor shielded, it needs four people at the door; the gold block travels boxed apart and is only in the crate on the version that includes it. Our main studios are in the UK (Birmingham) and Dubai, with additional global workshops.

A frosted slab folding to the floor at one end belongs with our art furniture; the eroded gold block relates it to our fibreglass sculptures, and the asymmetry to our contemporary and modern sculptures.

Shipping & Returns

Almost every sculpture at Giant Sculptures is handmade to order, then shipped worldwide free of charge. Below is everything you need to know before you order, and what to expect after.

Production Time

Almost every sculpture is handmade to order by our artisans — we do not mass-produce.

  • Standard sculptures: approximately 3–4 weeks from order confirmation.
  • Bespoke commissions (custom sizes, finishes, or fully custom designs): approximately 5–6 weeks from design sign-off.

Production time is separate from delivery time.

Free Worldwide Shipping

Shipping is free worldwide on every sculpture, regardless of size or destination. Standard delivery is by sea freight, typically 6–8 weeks after production is complete.

Express air freight is available on request at additional cost, with delivery in up to 10 days. Ask us before placing your order, or straight after, and we will confirm the cost for your destination.

All sculptures ship in reinforced protective crating, fully insured to purchase value.

Delivery to Your Address

Delivery is to the door or curbside at your shipping address.

For larger sculptures shipped by sea freight, the carrier will contact you in advance to arrange a delivery window. Please ensure someone is available to accept the delivery and that the property has suitable access for the size of the piece.

Once the sculpture arrives, you are responsible for positioning it in its final display location. For larger or heavier pieces, we recommend arranging two people (family, friends, or a local moving service) to help with placement.

International Orders & Customs

For orders shipping outside the United Kingdom, any customs duties, import taxes, or local fees at your destination country are the responsibility of the customer. These charges are set by your local authority and are not included in our shipping cost.

If you have questions about customs for your specific country, contact us before ordering and we can advise on typical charges for your region.

Returns

Where an order qualifies, we accept returns within 14 days of receipt, in original condition and original packaging, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

Because our sculptures are made individually, most orders do not qualify. Returns do not apply to any item that is not held in stock, is made to order, or is custom or bespoke.

To check whether your order qualifies, contact us within 14 days of receipt. On a qualifying return, return shipping is at the customer's cost, a 25% restocking fee applies, and original shipping charges are not refunded.

Damage in Transit

Every sculpture ships fully insured. In the unlikely event of damage during transit:

  1. Report the damage within 48 hours of delivery.
  2. Provide clear photographs of both the damage and the packaging.
  3. We arrange collection and either replacement or full refund at no cost to you.

Lifetime Guarantee

Every sculpture carries a lifetime guarantee against finish defects under normal display conditions, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

This covers manufacturing defects, premature finish degradation, and structural failures under normal display. It does not cover damage caused by accidents, misuse, inappropriate environments (for example, an indoor-only sculpture placed outdoors), or modifications made after delivery.
