Deep Blue Lens Top Cast Resin Side Table, 40cm, with a dark blue speckled resin lens top on curved matte grey fin legs, shown on a plain white background.
Deep Blue Lens Top Cast Resin Side Table - 40cm $3,10400
Description

A small cast resin side table in two tones, blue above and grey below. The top is a thick lens: flat above, curving away underneath to a rounded rim, so its depth is greatest at the centre. It is a deep blue running to near black, and fine pale speckles are held through the mass. Under it the base is a set of upright curved fins in a cool pale grey, matte where everything above them is glossy.

Pale Speckles Held at Different Depths

A lens is a deceptive shape at this size. Seen from standing the top reads as a flat disc, because the flat is what faces you; from a seat the curve underneath comes into view and the top thickens visibly towards its centre. The blue is dark enough to read as near-black at the rim, where the eye looks through the most material, and lifts towards the middle of the flat where there is least. Fine pale speckles are held right through the mass at different depths, so they shift against each other as you move. Under all that the fin base is matte and pale, and it reads as a plinth rather than as legs.

This is a small side table for the arm of a chair, a sofa end or a hall. It wants to be seen from a seat rather than from standing, because the lens curve and the speckling only read once the underside comes into view. A pale surface underneath lifts the blue; a dark one takes it to black. It will hold a glass level, since the top's upper face is flat. Indoors only.

The Speckling, the Diameter, and the Fin Base

Allow 3–4 weeks for a standard piece and 5–6 weeks for a bespoke commission. The lens top is the slow part. Three things can change. The speckling is first, from this fine pale scatter through to a clear body with none at all. The diameter is second, and a much wider top has its base redrawn to suit it. And the fin base, which can be this pale grey, a dark charcoal, or a polished metal instead. The diameter and the height are named by you. Several ordered at once are made in one run. One crate with the faces protected, and two to lift. Our main studios are in the UK (Birmingham) and Dubai, with additional global workshops.

A blue lens resting on grey fins makes this side table part of our art furniture; its clean disc-and-blade geometry fits our geometric sculptures, and the speckled blue body our resin sculptures.

Shipping & Returns

Almost every sculpture at Giant Sculptures is handmade to order, then shipped worldwide free of charge. Below is everything you need to know before you order, and what to expect after.

Production Time

Almost every sculpture is handmade to order by our artisans — we do not mass-produce.

  • Standard sculptures: approximately 3–4 weeks from order confirmation.
  • Bespoke commissions (custom sizes, finishes, or fully custom designs): approximately 5–6 weeks from design sign-off.

Production time is separate from delivery time.

Free Worldwide Shipping

Shipping is free worldwide on every sculpture, regardless of size or destination. Standard delivery is by sea freight, typically 6–8 weeks after production is complete.

Express air freight is available on request at additional cost, with delivery in up to 10 days. Ask us before placing your order, or straight after, and we will confirm the cost for your destination.

All sculptures ship in reinforced protective crating, fully insured to purchase value.

Delivery to Your Address

Delivery is to the door or curbside at your shipping address.

For larger sculptures shipped by sea freight, the carrier will contact you in advance to arrange a delivery window. Please ensure someone is available to accept the delivery and that the property has suitable access for the size of the piece.

Once the sculpture arrives, you are responsible for positioning it in its final display location. For larger or heavier pieces, we recommend arranging two people (family, friends, or a local moving service) to help with placement.

International Orders & Customs

For orders shipping outside the United Kingdom, any customs duties, import taxes, or local fees at your destination country are the responsibility of the customer. These charges are set by your local authority and are not included in our shipping cost.

If you have questions about customs for your specific country, contact us before ordering and we can advise on typical charges for your region.

Returns

Where an order qualifies, we accept returns within 14 days of receipt, in original condition and original packaging, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

Because our sculptures are made individually, most orders do not qualify. Returns do not apply to any item that is not held in stock, is made to order, or is custom or bespoke.

To check whether your order qualifies, contact us within 14 days of receipt. On a qualifying return, return shipping is at the customer's cost, a 25% restocking fee applies, and original shipping charges are not refunded.

Damage in Transit

Every sculpture ships fully insured. In the unlikely event of damage during transit:

  1. Report the damage within 48 hours of delivery.
  2. Provide clear photographs of both the damage and the packaging.
  3. We arrange collection and either replacement or full refund at no cost to you.

Lifetime Guarantee

Every sculpture carries a lifetime guarantee against finish defects under normal display conditions, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

This covers manufacturing defects, premature finish degradation, and structural failures under normal display. It does not cover damage caused by accidents, misuse, inappropriate environments (for example, an indoor-only sculpture placed outdoors), or modifications made after delivery.
