This cast resin stool is channelled all round like bark, cast as a section of trunk. Its outline is irregular rather than round, and its whole side is cut into deep vertical channels that widen and narrow as they rise, meeting and parting like bark. The top is sawn flat across, so the channels stop abruptly at a clean edge. The resin is a dark amber, close to black where two channels run together and much warmer where the material is thin at a ridge, and looking into it the channels appear to continue some way inside the body.
The channels are the piece. They run the full height of the body, widening and narrowing as they rise, meeting each other and parting again in the way bark does, and they are deep enough that the outline of the stool is irregular rather than round. The top is sawn flat straight across them, so every channel ends at one clean level edge and the contrast between the worked side and the plain top is abrupt. The dark amber sits in the material, close to black where two channels run together and much warmer at a thin ridge, and because the resin is translucent the channels appear to carry on some way inside the body rather than stopping at the surface.
At 55cm it stands at seat height and can serve as a seat, a small table or a plant stand, and it is small enough to shift wherever it is wanted. The channels are deep and they collect dust, so an open position is better than a tight corner. The dark amber reads best with light behind or beside it, where the translucency shows; against a dark wall it becomes a silhouette. The sawn top is flat and level and will take a drink. Indoors only.
Work on a bespoke commission runs to 5–6 weeks, on a standard piece to 3–4. The bark channels are why. Three of its features are open. The tint is open, the channel depth can be set stronger or softer, and the top can be supplied domed instead of sawn flat. A version at greater height is made to the same section if a side table rather than a stool is wanted. The top diameter and the overall height are open figures. A group ordered at one time will carry the depth of the bark channels evenly. Its crate is shaped round the sharp edges between the channels, and one person can lift it from there. Our main studios are in the UK (Birmingham) and Dubai, with additional global workshops.
A trunk section cut into bark channels makes a stool for our art furniture; its dark amber reading of wood belongs to our contemporary and modern sculptures, and its place beside a chair to our indoor sculptures.

Almost every sculpture is handmade to order by our artisans — we do not mass-produce.
Production time is separate from delivery time.
Shipping is free worldwide on every sculpture, regardless of size or destination. Standard delivery is by sea freight, typically 6–8 weeks after production is complete.
Express air freight is available on request at additional cost, with delivery in up to 10 days. Ask us before placing your order, or straight after, and we will confirm the cost for your destination.
All sculptures ship in reinforced protective crating, fully insured to purchase value.
Delivery is to the door or curbside at your shipping address.
For larger sculptures shipped by sea freight, the carrier will contact you in advance to arrange a delivery window. Please ensure someone is available to accept the delivery and that the property has suitable access for the size of the piece.
Once the sculpture arrives, you are responsible for positioning it in its final display location. For larger or heavier pieces, we recommend arranging two people (family, friends, or a local moving service) to help with placement.
For orders shipping outside the United Kingdom, any customs duties, import taxes, or local fees at your destination country are the responsibility of the customer. These charges are set by your local authority and are not included in our shipping cost.
If you have questions about customs for your specific country, contact us before ordering and we can advise on typical charges for your region.
Where an order qualifies, we accept returns within 14 days of receipt, in original condition and original packaging, subject to our Terms & Conditions.
Because our sculptures are made individually, most orders do not qualify. Returns do not apply to any item that is not held in stock, is made to order, or is custom or bespoke.
To check whether your order qualifies, contact us within 14 days of receipt. On a qualifying return, return shipping is at the customer's cost, a 25% restocking fee applies, and original shipping charges are not refunded.
Every sculpture ships fully insured. In the unlikely event of damage during transit:
Every sculpture carries a lifetime guarantee against finish defects under normal display conditions, subject to our Terms & Conditions.
This covers manufacturing defects, premature finish degradation, and structural failures under normal display. It does not cover damage caused by accidents, misuse, inappropriate environments (for example, an indoor-only sculpture placed outdoors), or modifications made after delivery.
If you have questions about shipping, customs, delivery timing, or anything else before you order, our team is here to help. Contact us via WhatsApp, email, or phone, and we'll respond within 24 hours.
