This plinth is a block of clear resin, its six faces cut flat and polished, with a panel of pale cream standing upright inside it. Across that panel run fine wavering brown lines, close together and roughly vertical, like grasses seen through water. The panel stops short of every face, so clear material surrounds it on all sides and the lines are read at a slight depth rather than on a surface.
Everything here is about depth. The block is sawn flat and polished on all six faces with no chamfer and no texture, because any working of the outside would compete with what is inside it. Standing upright within the mass is a panel of pale cream, and across it run fine wavering brown lines, close together and roughly vertical. The panel stops short of every face, so clear material surrounds it on all sides and the lines sit at a measurable distance behind the surface - which is what makes them read as suspended rather than printed. Looked at from an angle, the lines shift against the panel edge, and that shift is the whole effect.
At 45cm it serves as a plinth or a small side table: a stand for a lamp, a base for something displayed, or a drinks table beside a chair. The lines inside want light coming through the block from behind or beside, and an open position shows the shift between the panel and the surface as you pass. The flat top is level and will take a glass. One person can carry it. Keep it inside.
Ordinarily a standard piece needs 3–4 weeks and a bespoke commission 5–6. The inset panel is the slow part. Three aspects can be specified. The panel colour is open and the lines can be run in another tone or left off entirely. The block is made to any size you name, and the panel can be set at an angle rather than upright. Both the span across the block and the overall height are yours to set. For a matching group, the run of the lines across the panel is set once and carried through it. The crate is built around the four polished faces of the block, and one person should carry it. Our main studios are in the UK (Birmingham) and Dubai, with additional global workshops.
A clear block holding an upright panel of fine brown lines has the plain geometry of our geometric sculptures; as a lamp stand or a plinth it belongs to our art furniture, and lines held at a depth inside clear resin suit our contemporary and modern sculptures.

Almost every sculpture at Giant Sculptures is handmade to order, then shipped worldwide free of charge. Below is everything you need to know before you order, and what to expect after.
Almost every sculpture is handmade to order by our artisans — we do not mass-produce.
Production time is separate from delivery time.
Shipping is free worldwide on every sculpture, regardless of size or destination. Standard delivery is by sea freight, typically 6–8 weeks after production is complete.
Express air freight is available on request at additional cost, with delivery in up to 10 days. Ask us before placing your order, or straight after, and we will confirm the cost for your destination.
All sculptures ship in reinforced protective crating, fully insured to purchase value.
Delivery is to the door or curbside at your shipping address.
For larger sculptures shipped by sea freight, the carrier will contact you in advance to arrange a delivery window. Please ensure someone is available to accept the delivery and that the property has suitable access for the size of the piece.
Once the sculpture arrives, you are responsible for positioning it in its final display location. For larger or heavier pieces, we recommend arranging two people (family, friends, or a local moving service) to help with placement.
For orders shipping outside the United Kingdom, any customs duties, import taxes, or local fees at your destination country are the responsibility of the customer. These charges are set by your local authority and are not included in our shipping cost.
If you have questions about customs for your specific country, contact us before ordering and we can advise on typical charges for your region.
Where an order qualifies, we accept returns within 14 days of receipt, in original condition and original packaging, subject to our Terms & Conditions.
Because our sculptures are made individually, most orders do not qualify. Returns do not apply to any item that is not held in stock, is made to order, or is custom or bespoke.
To check whether your order qualifies, contact us within 14 days of receipt. On a qualifying return, return shipping is at the customer's cost, a 25% restocking fee applies, and original shipping charges are not refunded.
Every sculpture ships fully insured. In the unlikely event of damage during transit:
Every sculpture carries a lifetime guarantee against finish defects under normal display conditions, subject to our Terms & Conditions.
This covers manufacturing defects, premature finish degradation, and structural failures under normal display. It does not cover damage caused by accidents, misuse, inappropriate environments (for example, an indoor-only sculpture placed outdoors), or modifications made after delivery.
If you have questions about shipping, customs, delivery timing, or anything else before you order, our team is here to help. Contact us via WhatsApp, email, or phone, and we'll respond within 24 hours.
