Colourless Sculpted Underside Resin Bench - 90cm
Colourless Sculpted Underside Resin Bench - 90cm $5,80100
Description

Seen from the front this cast resin bench is a plain rectangular block with square edges and a flat top. Everything interesting is underneath. The bottom two thirds of the mass is worked into flowing rounded forms that hang and fold like drapery, and through the middle of them a single wide arch is cut clear from front to back, so the block stands on two irregular feet. The resin is colourless throughout, and because the sculpted surfaces sit inside a clear outer face the whole underside reads as a pattern held under glass.

Plain Above, Sculpted Underneath

The bench is two objects in one block. Above, it is plain: square edges, flat top, nothing to look at. Below, the bottom two thirds of the mass is worked into rounded flowing forms that hang and fold, and a single wide arch is cut clear through from front to back so the whole thing stands on two irregular feet. Because those sculpted surfaces sit inside a clear outer face, they are seen through material rather than directly, which softens them and gives the underside a depth that a surface carving would not have. The colourless resin makes the contrast work: with no tint, the plain upper block almost disappears and the sculpted underside is what the eye finds.

It works as a bench in a hall or at the foot of a bed, and equally as a low table beside a sofa. Its interest is underneath, so it wants to be seen from a seated position and to stand clear of a rug rather than sinking into one; a hard floor beneath it is worth more than a soft one. Light from the side reaches into the arch and shows the sculpted forms, and overhead light does not. It is heavy and should be placed once. Indoors only.

The Arch, the Block, and Getting It In

Delivery follows a 3–4 week build as standard, or a 5–6 week build if bespoke. The sculpted underside sets the pace here. Three points are open. The length is open, the arch can be cut wider or narrower, and the block is offered tinted as well as clear. The sculpted underside is worked differently on every piece and cannot be specified in detail. Overall length and overall height are settled at order. Several ordered together are worked so that the shape of the arch through the underside agrees. It ships with the thin edges of the arch protected and wants two people to position it. Our main studios are in the UK (Birmingham) and Dubai, with additional global workshops.

Plain above and sculpted below, this clear bench has its place among our art furniture; the draped underside suits our contemporary and modern sculptures, and a hall or bedroom setting our indoor sculptures.

Shipping & Returns

Almost every sculpture at Giant Sculptures is handmade to order, then shipped worldwide free of charge. Below is everything you need to know before you order, and what to expect after.

Production Time

Almost every sculpture is handmade to order by our artisans — we do not mass-produce.

  • Standard sculptures: approximately 3–4 weeks from order confirmation.
  • Bespoke commissions (custom sizes, finishes, or fully custom designs): approximately 5–6 weeks from design sign-off.

Production time is separate from delivery time.

Free Worldwide Shipping

Shipping is free worldwide on every sculpture, regardless of size or destination. Standard delivery is by sea freight, typically 6–8 weeks after production is complete.

Express air freight is available on request at additional cost, with delivery in up to 10 days. Ask us before placing your order, or straight after, and we will confirm the cost for your destination.

All sculptures ship in reinforced protective crating, fully insured to purchase value.

Delivery to Your Address

Delivery is to the door or curbside at your shipping address.

For larger sculptures shipped by sea freight, the carrier will contact you in advance to arrange a delivery window. Please ensure someone is available to accept the delivery and that the property has suitable access for the size of the piece.

Once the sculpture arrives, you are responsible for positioning it in its final display location. For larger or heavier pieces, we recommend arranging two people (family, friends, or a local moving service) to help with placement.

International Orders & Customs

For orders shipping outside the United Kingdom, any customs duties, import taxes, or local fees at your destination country are the responsibility of the customer. These charges are set by your local authority and are not included in our shipping cost.

If you have questions about customs for your specific country, contact us before ordering and we can advise on typical charges for your region.

Returns

Where an order qualifies, we accept returns within 14 days of receipt, in original condition and original packaging, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

Because our sculptures are made individually, most orders do not qualify. Returns do not apply to any item that is not held in stock, is made to order, or is custom or bespoke.

To check whether your order qualifies, contact us within 14 days of receipt. On a qualifying return, return shipping is at the customer's cost, a 25% restocking fee applies, and original shipping charges are not refunded.

Damage in Transit

Every sculpture ships fully insured. In the unlikely event of damage during transit:

  1. Report the damage within 48 hours of delivery.
  2. Provide clear photographs of both the damage and the packaging.
  3. We arrange collection and either replacement or full refund at no cost to you.

Lifetime Guarantee

Every sculpture carries a lifetime guarantee against finish defects under normal display conditions, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

This covers manufacturing defects, premature finish degradation, and structural failures under normal display. It does not cover damage caused by accidents, misuse, inappropriate environments (for example, an indoor-only sculpture placed outdoors), or modifications made after delivery.
