Colourless Panel Side Cast Resin Dining Chair - 80cm
Colourless Panel Side Cast Resin Dining Chair - 80cm $4,45400
Description

Solid panels stand at either side of this cast resin dining chair. Seat and back are one clear shell, the back leaning slightly and meeting the seat in a soft fold rather than a corner. What holds it up is unusual: each side of the chair is a single flat panel of the same resin, wider at the floor than at the seat, running the full depth of the frame. There are no separate legs. The panels are cast thick enough to read as slabs, and because everything is colourless the chair takes its shape from edges catching the light rather than from any change of tone.

Each Side Drops as One Flat Panel

There is nothing here that looks like a leg. Each side of the frame is a single flat slab running the full depth of the chair, wider at the floor than at the seat, so the section grows exactly where the load is greatest and the widening is legible as a taper rather than a step. The slabs are thick enough to read as plates and even enough that clarity does not change across their area, which matters because any variation in colourless material shows immediately as a shadow. Seat and back are one shell meeting the slabs along their top edges, and the change from seat to back is a curve rather than a corner, so there is no line anywhere for the eye or a stress to gather on.

At 80cm it tucks beneath a dining table as a chair should, but the flat side panels change how it behaves in a room. They sit wider at the floor than at the seat, so chairs pushed in beside each other will meet at the base before they meet at the seat, and a table with a pedestal suits it better than one with corner legs. Everything is colourless, so the chair takes its edges from whatever is behind it and disappears against a pale wall. Indoors only.

The Shell, the Panels, and the Wait

It takes 3–4 weeks to make as standard, and 5–6 weeks to make bespoke. The seat shell is what fills the time. Three decisions sit with you. The shell can be tinted, the side panels can be cast thicker or thinner within limits, and the seat height can be set to a figure you give us. The fold between seat and back can also be opened out to a shallower angle. The seat height and the overall height follow your figures. Two made side by side will share the water clarity of the shell. Two made months apart will not. The sled feet must be padded first, and then it is a two-person job to walk it in. Our main studios are in the UK (Birmingham) and Dubai, with additional global workshops.

Flat slab sides put this chair with our geometric sculptures; as seating it belongs to our art furniture, and its clear, reduced form to our contemporary and modern sculptures.

Shipping & Returns

Almost every sculpture at Giant Sculptures is handmade to order, then shipped worldwide free of charge. Below is everything you need to know before you order, and what to expect after.

Production Time

Almost every sculpture is handmade to order by our artisans — we do not mass-produce.

  • Standard sculptures: approximately 3–4 weeks from order confirmation.
  • Bespoke commissions (custom sizes, finishes, or fully custom designs): approximately 5–6 weeks from design sign-off.

Production time is separate from delivery time.

Free Worldwide Shipping

Shipping is free worldwide on every sculpture, regardless of size or destination. Standard delivery is by sea freight, typically 6–8 weeks after production is complete.

Express air freight is available on request at additional cost, with delivery in up to 10 days. Ask us before placing your order, or straight after, and we will confirm the cost for your destination.

All sculptures ship in reinforced protective crating, fully insured to purchase value.

Delivery to Your Address

Delivery is to the door or curbside at your shipping address.

For larger sculptures shipped by sea freight, the carrier will contact you in advance to arrange a delivery window. Please ensure someone is available to accept the delivery and that the property has suitable access for the size of the piece.

Once the sculpture arrives, you are responsible for positioning it in its final display location. For larger or heavier pieces, we recommend arranging two people (family, friends, or a local moving service) to help with placement.

International Orders & Customs

For orders shipping outside the United Kingdom, any customs duties, import taxes, or local fees at your destination country are the responsibility of the customer. These charges are set by your local authority and are not included in our shipping cost.

If you have questions about customs for your specific country, contact us before ordering and we can advise on typical charges for your region.

Returns

Where an order qualifies, we accept returns within 14 days of receipt, in original condition and original packaging, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

Because our sculptures are made individually, most orders do not qualify. Returns do not apply to any item that is not held in stock, is made to order, or is custom or bespoke.

To check whether your order qualifies, contact us within 14 days of receipt. On a qualifying return, return shipping is at the customer's cost, a 25% restocking fee applies, and original shipping charges are not refunded.

Damage in Transit

Every sculpture ships fully insured. In the unlikely event of damage during transit:

  1. Report the damage within 48 hours of delivery.
  2. Provide clear photographs of both the damage and the packaging.
  3. We arrange collection and either replacement or full refund at no cost to you.

Lifetime Guarantee

Every sculpture carries a lifetime guarantee against finish defects under normal display conditions, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

This covers manufacturing defects, premature finish degradation, and structural failures under normal display. It does not cover damage caused by accidents, misuse, inappropriate environments (for example, an indoor-only sculpture placed outdoors), or modifications made after delivery.
