This cast resin dining chair has a back that is a single hoop. It leaves the seat on one side, rises and curves round behind the sitter, and comes down on the other, so back rail and arms are the same member and there is no join anywhere in it. The section is round and full, thickest at the top of the curve. Below it the seat is a flat slab with a slight dish and a small raised edge, and four round legs taper gently to the floor. Everything is colourless, so the hoop reads as a drawn line.
The hoop is the piece. It leaves the seat on one side, turns through better than half a circle behind the sitter and returns on the other, and back rail and arms are therefore the same member with no join in it anywhere. The section is round and full, at its greatest across the top of the curve, and every face of it is polished including the inner sweep, which is the surface a hand meets. Below it the seat is a flat slab with a slight dish and a small raised edge, and the four legs taper gently and are round throughout. Everything is colourless, so the hoop has nothing to contrast against and reads as a line drawn in the air above the seat.
At 81cm it runs under a dining table, and the hoop is what decides where it goes. Because the back and arms are one curve, the chair reads the same from every angle, which makes it a better choice than a flat-backed chair where a table stands in the middle of a room and is seen from all sides. It is colourless, so it will take the tone of the floor beneath it. The hoop stands above a standard table edge and will not tuck fully under. Indoors only.
Production takes approximately 3–4 weeks for a standard piece, or 5–6 weeks for a bespoke commission. The hooped back is the slow part. Three of its features are open. The hoop can be cast in a tint while the seat is left clear, or the other way round. The seat height is open, and the hoop can be brought further forward so it works more as an armrest and less as a back. Tell us the seat height and the overall height. The clarity through the hoop is consistent within an order and not between orders. Its crate is shaped round the hooped back, and two people lift it from there. Our main studios are in the UK (Birmingham) and Dubai, with additional global workshops.
One drawn hoop for back and arms makes this chair a piece of our contemporary and modern sculptures, a seat from our art furniture and a chair for our indoor sculptures.

Almost every sculpture at Giant Sculptures is handmade to order, then shipped worldwide free of charge. Below is everything you need to know before you order, and what to expect after.
Almost every sculpture is handmade to order by our artisans — we do not mass-produce.
Production time is separate from delivery time.
Shipping is free worldwide on every sculpture, regardless of size or destination. Standard delivery is by sea freight, typically 6–8 weeks after production is complete.
Express air freight is available on request at additional cost, with delivery in up to 10 days. Ask us before placing your order, or straight after, and we will confirm the cost for your destination.
All sculptures ship in reinforced protective crating, fully insured to purchase value.
Delivery is to the door or curbside at your shipping address.
For larger sculptures shipped by sea freight, the carrier will contact you in advance to arrange a delivery window. Please ensure someone is available to accept the delivery and that the property has suitable access for the size of the piece.
Once the sculpture arrives, you are responsible for positioning it in its final display location. For larger or heavier pieces, we recommend arranging two people (family, friends, or a local moving service) to help with placement.
For orders shipping outside the United Kingdom, any customs duties, import taxes, or local fees at your destination country are the responsibility of the customer. These charges are set by your local authority and are not included in our shipping cost.
If you have questions about customs for your specific country, contact us before ordering and we can advise on typical charges for your region.
Where an order qualifies, we accept returns within 14 days of receipt, in original condition and original packaging, subject to our Terms & Conditions.
Because our sculptures are made individually, most orders do not qualify. Returns do not apply to any item that is not held in stock, is made to order, or is custom or bespoke.
To check whether your order qualifies, contact us within 14 days of receipt. On a qualifying return, return shipping is at the customer's cost, a 25% restocking fee applies, and original shipping charges are not refunded.
Every sculpture ships fully insured. In the unlikely event of damage during transit:
Every sculpture carries a lifetime guarantee against finish defects under normal display conditions, subject to our Terms & Conditions.
This covers manufacturing defects, premature finish degradation, and structural failures under normal display. It does not cover damage caused by accidents, misuse, inappropriate environments (for example, an indoor-only sculpture placed outdoors), or modifications made after delivery.
If you have questions about shipping, customs, delivery timing, or anything else before you order, our team is here to help. Contact us via WhatsApp, email, or phone, and we'll respond within 24 hours.
