Colourless Curved Arm Composite Armchair - 78cm
Colourless Curved Arm Composite Armchair - 78cm $3,64200
Description

In this cast composite armchair the back is one curved panel that turns forward on either side to become a low arm, and the arms end square rather than rolled. Below it the seat is a dished pan with a rounded front edge, and the two are a single piece with no join at the junction. Four legs carry it, thick and square-edged and tapering gently towards the floor, set in from the corners of the seat. The material is colourless throughout, so the chair takes its shape from the bright edges where surfaces meet rather than from any change of tone.

A Back That Sweeps Into Two Arms

The whole upper part of this chair is one surface with no interruption. The back curves and, without any change of section, sweeps forward at each side into a low arm that ends square. Below, the seat is a dished pan with a rounded front edge, and where it meets the back there is no line at all. The four legs are thick and square-edged, and taper very gently, set in from the corners so the seat oversails them. Being colourless throughout, the chair has no tonal shading anywhere and its form is read entirely from the bright edges where two surfaces meet, which is why the arm ends and the seat rim are the parts the eye finds first.

At 78cm high this is a full armchair with low arms, and it will run in to a table if that is how it is used. Being colourless it shows whatever stands behind it, so a plain wall serves it better than a busy one, and against a window it reads almost entirely as an outline. The square arm ends are the detail to keep clear of a wall. Two people to place it. Indoors.

The Arms, the Legs, and the Wait

As standard the build runs 3–4 weeks, and as a bespoke commission 5–6. Most of it is the arm curve. Three things are open at order. It is offered tinted as well as clear, the arms can be brought up or set further apart, and the leg section is open within limits. The seat height is settled at order. Seat height and overall width are made to the figures you give. For a matching group, the clarity through the back is set once and carried through it. In transit the two arm ends must be boxed away from the sides; two people to set it down. Our main studios are in the UK (Birmingham) and Dubai, with additional global workshops.

A colourless back swept into two low arms makes this chair seating for our art furniture; its single unbroken surface suits our contemporary and modern sculptures, and a dining or reading room our indoor sculptures.

Shipping & Returns

Almost every sculpture at Giant Sculptures is handmade to order, then shipped worldwide free of charge. Below is everything you need to know before you order, and what to expect after.

Production Time

Almost every sculpture is handmade to order by our artisans — we do not mass-produce.

  • Standard sculptures: approximately 3–4 weeks from order confirmation.
  • Bespoke commissions (custom sizes, finishes, or fully custom designs): approximately 5–6 weeks from design sign-off.

Production time is separate from delivery time.

Free Worldwide Shipping

Shipping is free worldwide on every sculpture, regardless of size or destination. Standard delivery is by sea freight, typically 6–8 weeks after production is complete.

Express air freight is available on request at additional cost, with delivery in up to 10 days. Ask us before placing your order, or straight after, and we will confirm the cost for your destination.

All sculptures ship in reinforced protective crating, fully insured to purchase value.

Delivery to Your Address

Delivery is to the door or curbside at your shipping address.

For larger sculptures shipped by sea freight, the carrier will contact you in advance to arrange a delivery window. Please ensure someone is available to accept the delivery and that the property has suitable access for the size of the piece.

Once the sculpture arrives, you are responsible for positioning it in its final display location. For larger or heavier pieces, we recommend arranging two people (family, friends, or a local moving service) to help with placement.

International Orders & Customs

For orders shipping outside the United Kingdom, any customs duties, import taxes, or local fees at your destination country are the responsibility of the customer. These charges are set by your local authority and are not included in our shipping cost.

If you have questions about customs for your specific country, contact us before ordering and we can advise on typical charges for your region.

Returns

Where an order qualifies, we accept returns within 14 days of receipt, in original condition and original packaging, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

Because our sculptures are made individually, most orders do not qualify. Returns do not apply to any item that is not held in stock, is made to order, or is custom or bespoke.

To check whether your order qualifies, contact us within 14 days of receipt. On a qualifying return, return shipping is at the customer's cost, a 25% restocking fee applies, and original shipping charges are not refunded.

Damage in Transit

Every sculpture ships fully insured. In the unlikely event of damage during transit:

  1. Report the damage within 48 hours of delivery.
  2. Provide clear photographs of both the damage and the packaging.
  3. We arrange collection and either replacement or full refund at no cost to you.

Lifetime Guarantee

Every sculpture carries a lifetime guarantee against finish defects under normal display conditions, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

This covers manufacturing defects, premature finish degradation, and structural failures under normal display. It does not cover damage caused by accidents, misuse, inappropriate environments (for example, an indoor-only sculpture placed outdoors), or modifications made after delivery.
