Clear Twisting Ribbon Resin Sculpture, 158cm, atop a tall black marble plinth against a plain white background.
Clear Twisting Ribbon Resin Sculpture - 158cm $2,29500
Description

A narrow ribbon of clear resin turning on itself as it climbs and opening at the top, carried on a tall black marble plinth. The ribbon is colourless, so its turns are read by their edges, each one a bright line against the stone or the wall behind it. The plinth comes with it and makes up far more of the height than the ribbon does.

A Ribbon Raised High on Stone

Clear resin leaves a twisting form nothing to hide behind: every turn shows its thickness, and the room behind bends through the ribbon as it climbs. The stack is the unusual part: the stone beneath stands well above the height of the casting on it, which puts the whole of the sculpture above eye level and makes the plinth as much of the silhouette as the ribbon is. A doubly curved clear body must be cast without a trace of cloud along its whole length, and every face is polished, the inside of the twist included.

A stairwell, a broad landing or a hall's far end, where the plinth can stand against a plain wall. A darker wall behind lets the clear ribbon read; against glazing it disappears. Side light runs along each turn of the twist and makes it bright. At a distance it is a dark column carrying a bright line, and the twist resolves as you approach.

A Tint or a Low Block, and Getting It In

Once ordered, a standard piece takes 3–4 weeks and a bespoke one 5–6. The twist is given another turn, a tint is carried through the ribbon, and a low marble block can take the place of the tall plinth where the piece is to stand on furniture. Plinth and casting arrive together and are stacked in that order, with the casting kept wrapped until nothing else needs moving. Two people in gloves, since bare hands mark clear resin and the mark shows. Our main studios are in the UK (Birmingham) and Dubai, with additional global workshops.

A twisting ribbon raised high on black stone stands in our indoor sculptures; its tall, spare line suits our contemporary and modern sculptures, and the ribbon itself joins our resin sculptures.

Shipping & Returns

Almost every sculpture at Giant Sculptures is handmade to order, then shipped worldwide free of charge. Below is everything you need to know before you order, and what to expect after.

Production Time

Almost every sculpture is handmade to order by our artisans — we do not mass-produce.

  • Standard sculptures: approximately 3–4 weeks from order confirmation.
  • Bespoke commissions (custom sizes, finishes, or fully custom designs): approximately 5–6 weeks from design sign-off.

Production time is separate from delivery time.

Free Worldwide Shipping

Shipping is free worldwide on every sculpture, regardless of size or destination. Standard delivery is by sea freight, typically 6–8 weeks after production is complete.

Express air freight is available on request at additional cost, with delivery in up to 10 days. Ask us before placing your order, or straight after, and we will confirm the cost for your destination.

All sculptures ship in reinforced protective crating, fully insured to purchase value.

Delivery to Your Address

Delivery is to the door or curbside at your shipping address.

For larger sculptures shipped by sea freight, the carrier will contact you in advance to arrange a delivery window. Please ensure someone is available to accept the delivery and that the property has suitable access for the size of the piece.

Once the sculpture arrives, you are responsible for positioning it in its final display location. For larger or heavier pieces, we recommend arranging two people (family, friends, or a local moving service) to help with placement.

International Orders & Customs

For orders shipping outside the United Kingdom, any customs duties, import taxes, or local fees at your destination country are the responsibility of the customer. These charges are set by your local authority and are not included in our shipping cost.

If you have questions about customs for your specific country, contact us before ordering and we can advise on typical charges for your region.

Returns

Where an order qualifies, we accept returns within 14 days of receipt, in original condition and original packaging, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

Because our sculptures are made individually, most orders do not qualify. Returns do not apply to any item that is not held in stock, is made to order, or is custom or bespoke.

To check whether your order qualifies, contact us within 14 days of receipt. On a qualifying return, return shipping is at the customer's cost, a 25% restocking fee applies, and original shipping charges are not refunded.

Damage in Transit

Every sculpture ships fully insured. In the unlikely event of damage during transit:

  1. Report the damage within 48 hours of delivery.
  2. Provide clear photographs of both the damage and the packaging.
  3. We arrange collection and either replacement or full refund at no cost to you.

Lifetime Guarantee

Every sculpture carries a lifetime guarantee against finish defects under normal display conditions, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

This covers manufacturing defects, premature finish degradation, and structural failures under normal display. It does not cover damage caused by accidents, misuse, inappropriate environments (for example, an indoor-only sculpture placed outdoors), or modifications made after delivery.
