Clear Turned Leg Acrylic Armchair with Buttoned Seat - 102cm, classical clear acrylic frame with turned legs and an orange tufted cushion, on a plain white background.
Clear Turned Leg Acrylic Armchair with Buttoned Seat - 102cm $2,69900
Description

An armchair made throughout in clear acrylic. The frame follows a classical pattern: four legs turned to a taper with collars cut into them, two arm supports carrying a ball at mid height, and a tall flat back panel rising well above the arms. A deep buttoned cushion sits on the seat rails and is the only part of the chair that is not transparent.

A Classical Frame Turned From Clear Acrylic

Turning acrylic is nothing like turning wood. The material softens as it heats, so the cut has to be taken fine and the speed kept down, and every collar and taper on these legs is a separate pass. Eight turned members go into one chair - four legs and the arm supports with their balls - and each is polished after turning, because a lathe finish on clear acrylic leaves a grey haze that no amount of assembly will hide. The back panel is cut flat and its edges brought up to the same clarity, so the frame does not show a dull member next to a bright one. Where the parts meet, the joint takes the light the same way as the members either side of it, so the frame reads continuous rather than assembled. Small tool marks inside the collars are usual on hand-turned work.

The height is what places this chair. At 102cm the back stands above a dining table by a clear margin, so a pair at the ends of a table will frame it, and one on its own works as an occasional chair in a bedroom or a dressing room. The classical outline sits comfortably in a period room where a moulded chair would fight the mouldings, and because the frame is clear it does that without adding another piece of furniture to the eye.

The Turning, the Cushion, and Ordering a Set

Time separates the two: a bespoke commission takes 5–6 weeks, a standard piece 3–4. The cushion is made up in the fabric and colour you specify - the buttoning can be dropped for a plain top, and the cushion can be made shallower if you want the seat closer to the floor. The chair is priced singly, so a set is a quantity on the order rather than a different product. Each chair leaves here assembled, since the solvent-welded joints are not made to be broken down, and it travels in a fitted carton with the cushion boxed beside it. That makes the carton bulky rather than heavy, and one person can manage it. Keep the film on the turned members until the chair is standing where it will live. Our main studios are in the UK (Birmingham) and Dubai, with additional global workshops.

A classical frame turned from clear acrylic belongs with our indoor sculptures; collared legs under a buttoned seat carry on into our art furniture, and a tall-backed chair for a period room joins our acrylic sculptures.

Shipping & Returns

Almost every sculpture at Giant Sculptures is handmade to order, then shipped worldwide free of charge. Below is everything you need to know before you order, and what to expect after.

Production Time

Almost every sculpture is handmade to order by our artisans — we do not mass-produce.

  • Standard sculptures: approximately 3–4 weeks from order confirmation.
  • Bespoke commissions (custom sizes, finishes, or fully custom designs): approximately 5–6 weeks from design sign-off.

Production time is separate from delivery time.

Free Worldwide Shipping

Shipping is free worldwide on every sculpture, regardless of size or destination. Standard delivery is by sea freight, typically 6–8 weeks after production is complete.

Express air freight is available on request at additional cost, with delivery in up to 10 days. Ask us before placing your order, or straight after, and we will confirm the cost for your destination.

All sculptures ship in reinforced protective crating, fully insured to purchase value.

Delivery to Your Address

Delivery is to the door or curbside at your shipping address.

For larger sculptures shipped by sea freight, the carrier will contact you in advance to arrange a delivery window. Please ensure someone is available to accept the delivery and that the property has suitable access for the size of the piece.

Once the sculpture arrives, you are responsible for positioning it in its final display location. For larger or heavier pieces, we recommend arranging two people (family, friends, or a local moving service) to help with placement.

International Orders & Customs

For orders shipping outside the United Kingdom, any customs duties, import taxes, or local fees at your destination country are the responsibility of the customer. These charges are set by your local authority and are not included in our shipping cost.

If you have questions about customs for your specific country, contact us before ordering and we can advise on typical charges for your region.

Returns

Where an order qualifies, we accept returns within 14 days of receipt, in original condition and original packaging, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

Because our sculptures are made individually, most orders do not qualify. Returns do not apply to any item that is not held in stock, is made to order, or is custom or bespoke.

To check whether your order qualifies, contact us within 14 days of receipt. On a qualifying return, return shipping is at the customer's cost, a 25% restocking fee applies, and original shipping charges are not refunded.

Damage in Transit

Every sculpture ships fully insured. In the unlikely event of damage during transit:

  1. Report the damage within 48 hours of delivery.
  2. Provide clear photographs of both the damage and the packaging.
  3. We arrange collection and either replacement or full refund at no cost to you.

Lifetime Guarantee

Every sculpture carries a lifetime guarantee against finish defects under normal display conditions, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

This covers manufacturing defects, premature finish degradation, and structural failures under normal display. It does not cover damage caused by accidents, misuse, inappropriate environments (for example, an indoor-only sculpture placed outdoors), or modifications made after delivery.
