The round clear disc of this side table sits on a turned stem that descends through two spheres separated by collars, the bottom sphere the fuller of the two, and below the stem a stepped round foot, much narrower than the disc, meets the floor. Every part of it is colourless, so the profile is the only thing there is to look at.
A turned profile is normally read against the grain or the colour of the material it is cut from, and here there is neither. What is left is the outline and the light that runs along it, which means each transition has to be cut to a radius that catches a highlight, or the sphere and the collar merge into one shape. The two spheres are turned to different sizes, the bottom one the fuller, and the collars between them are spaced evenly, because on a colourless stem the eye compares every part directly and the slightest wobble shows. The edge of the disc is polished last of all, so its rim catches a bright line of light right round.
At 70cm it suits a place beside a high-backed chair, in a hall, or at the end of a bed, with room on top for a drink or a book. Nothing on it carries a colour of its own, so the table borrows whatever surrounds it: stood over a patterned rug the stem fills with that pattern, and against a plain wall it reads as a line drawing. That is worth choosing deliberately. The foot is much narrower than the disc, so the table can stand close in to a chair or against a wall.
In the workshop a standard piece takes 3–4 weeks and a bespoke commission 5–6. Sphere count is open: a third can be added to raise the stem, or one taken out for a plainer profile. A raised lip can be added round the disc to keep a glass from sliding. Disc size and overall height are both cut to order. A tint can be put through the whole piece or through the stem alone, which separates it from the disc. Disc, stem and foot travel as three items and are brought together on arrival with a threaded collar under the top, so nothing goes up a stair assembled. One person can carry the stem and foot. The disc wants two, taken at opposite edges. Our main studios are in the UK (Birmingham) and Dubai, with additional global workshops.
Two spheres of different sizes on one turned stem belong with our acrylic sculptures; a stepped foot much narrower than its disc leads to our art furniture, and a drinks perch by a high-backed chair joins our indoor sculptures.

Almost every sculpture at Giant Sculptures is handmade to order, then shipped worldwide free of charge. Below is everything you need to know before you order, and what to expect after.
Almost every sculpture is handmade to order by our artisans — we do not mass-produce.
Production time is separate from delivery time.
Shipping is free worldwide on every sculpture, regardless of size or destination. Standard delivery is by sea freight, typically 6–8 weeks after production is complete.
Express air freight is available on request at additional cost, with delivery in up to 10 days. Ask us before placing your order, or straight after, and we will confirm the cost for your destination.
All sculptures ship in reinforced protective crating, fully insured to purchase value.
Delivery is to the door or curbside at your shipping address.
For larger sculptures shipped by sea freight, the carrier will contact you in advance to arrange a delivery window. Please ensure someone is available to accept the delivery and that the property has suitable access for the size of the piece.
Once the sculpture arrives, you are responsible for positioning it in its final display location. For larger or heavier pieces, we recommend arranging two people (family, friends, or a local moving service) to help with placement.
For orders shipping outside the United Kingdom, any customs duties, import taxes, or local fees at your destination country are the responsibility of the customer. These charges are set by your local authority and are not included in our shipping cost.
If you have questions about customs for your specific country, contact us before ordering and we can advise on typical charges for your region.
Where an order qualifies, we accept returns within 14 days of receipt, in original condition and original packaging, subject to our Terms & Conditions.
Because our sculptures are made individually, most orders do not qualify. Returns do not apply to any item that is not held in stock, is made to order, or is custom or bespoke.
To check whether your order qualifies, contact us within 14 days of receipt. On a qualifying return, return shipping is at the customer's cost, a 25% restocking fee applies, and original shipping charges are not refunded.
Every sculpture ships fully insured. In the unlikely event of damage during transit:
Every sculpture carries a lifetime guarantee against finish defects under normal display conditions, subject to our Terms & Conditions.
This covers manufacturing defects, premature finish degradation, and structural failures under normal display. It does not cover damage caused by accidents, misuse, inappropriate environments (for example, an indoor-only sculpture placed outdoors), or modifications made after delivery.
If you have questions about shipping, customs, delivery timing, or anything else before you order, our team is here to help. Contact us via WhatsApp, email, or phone, and we'll respond within 24 hours.
