The seat on this bench is not flat. A clear acrylic panel is dished along its whole length and both long edges are raised, so the top reads as a shallow channel and the middle of the bench sits a little below its edges. Under it is a chromed trestle, its two legs standing upright and joined by a rail under the seat. The panel is thick enough at the edges to show a bright line right along them.
Dishing a panel along its length is a forming job rather than a cutting one, and the difficulty is keeping the section even: a panel pulled down in the middle wants to thin exactly where it is doing most work, so the blank starts thicker than the finished edge and the dish is taken slowly. Both long edges are raised in the same operation, which is why the curve runs continuously from one edge across the trough and up the other rather than reading as three separate moves. The trestle is chromed after welding so the joins disappear under the plating, and its rail is what keeps the legs square under a seat that will be sat on hard.
A dished seat holds a sitter in the middle, which makes this a bench people use rather than pass: an entrance where boots come off, the end of a hall, a dressing room. The trough gathers light along its length and throws a bright line onto the floor beneath, so it does more out in a room than pushed against a wall. Both ends reach past the trestle and want to be left clear. It takes two adults at this length.
In the workshop a standard piece takes 3–4 weeks and a bespoke commission 5–6. Dish depth is set at order and the panel is offered flat if the trough is not wanted. Edge height is open, and a single raised edge is available where the bench is to go against a wall. The trestle comes in this chrome, a brushed steel, a brass plate or a black powder coat, and the rail height is set at order. Length is cut to order. Panel and trestle travel apart, the panel crated on edge with the trough packed upward, and two people bolt them together where the bench stands. Our main studios are in the UK (Birmingham) and Dubai, with additional global workshops.
A seat dished between two raised edges belongs with our acrylic sculptures; a chromed trestle with its rail under the seat leads to our stainless steel sculptures, and a bench for taking boots off at an entrance joins our indoor sculptures.

Almost every sculpture at Giant Sculptures is handmade to order, then shipped worldwide free of charge. Below is everything you need to know before you order, and what to expect after.
Almost every sculpture is handmade to order by our artisans — we do not mass-produce.
Production time is separate from delivery time.
Shipping is free worldwide on every sculpture, regardless of size or destination. Standard delivery is by sea freight, typically 6–8 weeks after production is complete.
Express air freight is available on request at additional cost, with delivery in up to 10 days. Ask us before placing your order, or straight after, and we will confirm the cost for your destination.
All sculptures ship in reinforced protective crating, fully insured to purchase value.
Delivery is to the door or curbside at your shipping address.
For larger sculptures shipped by sea freight, the carrier will contact you in advance to arrange a delivery window. Please ensure someone is available to accept the delivery and that the property has suitable access for the size of the piece.
Once the sculpture arrives, you are responsible for positioning it in its final display location. For larger or heavier pieces, we recommend arranging two people (family, friends, or a local moving service) to help with placement.
For orders shipping outside the United Kingdom, any customs duties, import taxes, or local fees at your destination country are the responsibility of the customer. These charges are set by your local authority and are not included in our shipping cost.
If you have questions about customs for your specific country, contact us before ordering and we can advise on typical charges for your region.
Where an order qualifies, we accept returns within 14 days of receipt, in original condition and original packaging, subject to our Terms & Conditions.
Because our sculptures are made individually, most orders do not qualify. Returns do not apply to any item that is not held in stock, is made to order, or is custom or bespoke.
To check whether your order qualifies, contact us within 14 days of receipt. On a qualifying return, return shipping is at the customer's cost, a 25% restocking fee applies, and original shipping charges are not refunded.
Every sculpture ships fully insured. In the unlikely event of damage during transit:
Every sculpture carries a lifetime guarantee against finish defects under normal display conditions, subject to our Terms & Conditions.
This covers manufacturing defects, premature finish degradation, and structural failures under normal display. It does not cover damage caused by accidents, misuse, inappropriate environments (for example, an indoor-only sculpture placed outdoors), or modifications made after delivery.
If you have questions about shipping, customs, delivery timing, or anything else before you order, our team is here to help. Contact us via WhatsApp, email, or phone, and we'll respond within 24 hours.
