A low bench in clear acrylic, both long sides of its thick seat torn back to an irregular broken face. The frame beneath is brushed metal and set well in from the ends, so a good stretch of the slab reaches out past it at either end and the bench sits well below the seat of a dining chair.
Tearing an edge this deep is a different operation from cutting one. The long faces are broken back in stages rather than sawn, so the line of the break wanders along the length instead of running straight the way a blade would take it. What comes away is a shell of coarse facets, each one catching light at its own angle, and the result is an edge that reads bright white against a top that has been flatted and polished to clear. Because the break follows the casting's own grain, no two benches carry the same profile - the depth of the torn zone varies along the length and the facets are broader where the section cooled slowest. The frame is welded from box section, the welds dressed back flush, and the whole thing brushed in one direction so it holds a soft grey.
The seat is low, which makes this a bench for a room people relax in rather than a hallway: by a fireplace, along the foot of a bed, or beside a low table where its height matches. Being shallow from front to back, it will pass along a tight corridor without becoming an obstacle. Give it light from the side if you can. The torn faces are what the eye goes to, and side light rakes across the facets instead of flattening them.
Most pieces are standard and take 3–4 weeks; a bespoke commission takes 5–6. The torn zone can be run deeper or kept shallow, and the frame can be widened toward the full length if you would rather the overhangs ran less far. Polished metal is available in place of the brushed finish. A slab this deep is a solid mass of acrylic, and the overhangs mean it must be lifted from beneath the frame rather than by the ends of the slab; two people and a clear route are needed. The frame travels separately and the slab is crated on its flat, so nothing bears on a torn face in transit. Our main studios are in the UK (Birmingham) and Dubai, with additional global workshops.
Torn faces down both long sides belong with our art furniture; a broken clear edge over brushed metal opens onto our acrylic sculptures, and a low seat by a fireplace joins our contemporary and modern sculptures.

Almost every sculpture at Giant Sculptures is handmade to order, then shipped worldwide free of charge. Below is everything you need to know before you order, and what to expect after.
Almost every sculpture is handmade to order by our artisans — we do not mass-produce.
Production time is separate from delivery time.
Shipping is free worldwide on every sculpture, regardless of size or destination. Standard delivery is by sea freight, typically 6–8 weeks after production is complete.
Express air freight is available on request at additional cost, with delivery in up to 10 days. Ask us before placing your order, or straight after, and we will confirm the cost for your destination.
All sculptures ship in reinforced protective crating, fully insured to purchase value.
Delivery is to the door or curbside at your shipping address.
For larger sculptures shipped by sea freight, the carrier will contact you in advance to arrange a delivery window. Please ensure someone is available to accept the delivery and that the property has suitable access for the size of the piece.
Once the sculpture arrives, you are responsible for positioning it in its final display location. For larger or heavier pieces, we recommend arranging two people (family, friends, or a local moving service) to help with placement.
For orders shipping outside the United Kingdom, any customs duties, import taxes, or local fees at your destination country are the responsibility of the customer. These charges are set by your local authority and are not included in our shipping cost.
If you have questions about customs for your specific country, contact us before ordering and we can advise on typical charges for your region.
Where an order qualifies, we accept returns within 14 days of receipt, in original condition and original packaging, subject to our Terms & Conditions.
Because our sculptures are made individually, most orders do not qualify. Returns do not apply to any item that is not held in stock, is made to order, or is custom or bespoke.
To check whether your order qualifies, contact us within 14 days of receipt. On a qualifying return, return shipping is at the customer's cost, a 25% restocking fee applies, and original shipping charges are not refunded.
Every sculpture ships fully insured. In the unlikely event of damage during transit:
Every sculpture carries a lifetime guarantee against finish defects under normal display conditions, subject to our Terms & Conditions.
This covers manufacturing defects, premature finish degradation, and structural failures under normal display. It does not cover damage caused by accidents, misuse, inappropriate environments (for example, an indoor-only sculpture placed outdoors), or modifications made after delivery.
If you have questions about shipping, customs, delivery timing, or anything else before you order, our team is here to help. Contact us via WhatsApp, email, or phone, and we'll respond within 24 hours.
