The top of this clear acrylic bench has been worked into a texture, and seen from the side the working shows along both long edges as a jagged, broken line of light running the whole length of the thick panel. Below it a polished metal trestle carries the panel on two legs tied together by a rail, so the base reads as one frame rather than two supports.
A texture on the top face of a clear panel is seen twice, once from above and once through the thickness of the block, where every hollow and ridge shows edge-on as part of a line along the side. The working is therefore kept even along the whole length, because any patch worked deeper than its neighbours shows from the side as a kink in that line. The long edges are eased once the top is finished so the texture runs out cleanly at the arris rather than stopping short of it. The trestle is polished so it takes the panel as a reflection.
Read from overhead and from the side alike, a worked top suits a place people pass and look down on: a hall bench, the foot of a bed, under a window. The working is shallow enough to sit on in comfort. A fitting directly above brings the texture up across the whole top, which a lamp at the side does not. The polished trestle wants a plain hard floor to reflect, and fragments over a patterned rug.
Count on the difference between standard and bespoke: 3–4 weeks or 5–6. The texture can be worked finer or coarser, or confined to one end of the panel. Panel depth is offered heavier or lighter. The bench is cut to whatever length the wall allows, and a tint can go through the panel. The trestle is available brushed, coated or in a darker metal, and its rail can be dropped for a lighter frame. Panel and trestle travel separately and bolt up through the trestle's top faces, so the bench comes in as two flat items. Two people are wanted for the panel. The trestle is a one-person carry and travels boxed. Our main studios are in the UK (Birmingham) and Dubai, with additional global workshops.
A texture breaking as light along both edges belongs with our acrylic sculptures; a polished trestle tied by one rail leads to our metal sculptures, and a bench to run along a passage joins our indoor sculptures.

Almost every sculpture at Giant Sculptures is handmade to order, then shipped worldwide free of charge. Below is everything you need to know before you order, and what to expect after.
Almost every sculpture is handmade to order by our artisans — we do not mass-produce.
Production time is separate from delivery time.
Shipping is free worldwide on every sculpture, regardless of size or destination. Standard delivery is by sea freight, typically 6–8 weeks after production is complete.
Express air freight is available on request at additional cost, with delivery in up to 10 days. Ask us before placing your order, or straight after, and we will confirm the cost for your destination.
All sculptures ship in reinforced protective crating, fully insured to purchase value.
Delivery is to the door or curbside at your shipping address.
For larger sculptures shipped by sea freight, the carrier will contact you in advance to arrange a delivery window. Please ensure someone is available to accept the delivery and that the property has suitable access for the size of the piece.
Once the sculpture arrives, you are responsible for positioning it in its final display location. For larger or heavier pieces, we recommend arranging two people (family, friends, or a local moving service) to help with placement.
For orders shipping outside the United Kingdom, any customs duties, import taxes, or local fees at your destination country are the responsibility of the customer. These charges are set by your local authority and are not included in our shipping cost.
If you have questions about customs for your specific country, contact us before ordering and we can advise on typical charges for your region.
Where an order qualifies, we accept returns within 14 days of receipt, in original condition and original packaging, subject to our Terms & Conditions.
Because our sculptures are made individually, most orders do not qualify. Returns do not apply to any item that is not held in stock, is made to order, or is custom or bespoke.
To check whether your order qualifies, contact us within 14 days of receipt. On a qualifying return, return shipping is at the customer's cost, a 25% restocking fee applies, and original shipping charges are not refunded.
Every sculpture ships fully insured. In the unlikely event of damage during transit:
Every sculpture carries a lifetime guarantee against finish defects under normal display conditions, subject to our Terms & Conditions.
This covers manufacturing defects, premature finish degradation, and structural failures under normal display. It does not cover damage caused by accidents, misuse, inappropriate environments (for example, an indoor-only sculpture placed outdoors), or modifications made after delivery.
If you have questions about shipping, customs, delivery timing, or anything else before you order, our team is here to help. Contact us via WhatsApp, email, or phone, and we'll respond within 24 hours.
