This acrylic bench is one long slab, low to the floor. The seat is clear acrylic worked all over its upper face into close horizontal striations, so the surface reads as brushed water rather than as a polished plane. Beneath it a mirror-polished steel trestle spans only the middle of that length, which leaves the slab reaching past its support at both ends by a good hand's width.
Striating a face is a subtractive job and the depth of cut is the whole control. Taken too fine the surface simply looks scratched; taken too deep it stops being comfortable to sit on at all. The cut here is set so the striations read clearly from a standing height and disappear under the hand, and that depth has to hold across the full length - a cutter losing a fraction of its bite shows as a bright band across the seat. The trestle is welded from square steel and mirrored on the outer faces, and the two feet are trued together after welding, since a trestle that rocks under a cantilevered slab will show at the overhanging ends first.
It seats two, and at a relaxed height, so this is a bench for pausing rather than settling: a boot room, a dressing area, the space outside a bathroom. Its shallow depth keeps it out of the traffic. The mirror trestle picks up the floor and largely disappears into it, so over a dark floor the striated slab appears to hang in the air, and over a pale one the trestle reads as two bright uprights. Side light is what makes the striations show.
Ours is a 3–4 week build as standard, and a 5–6 week build when the commission is bespoke. The striation depth and spacing can both be specified, and the face can be left plain if you want a polished seat. The trestle is available brushed rather than mirrored, and its span can be taken out toward the ends of the slab if you would rather nothing overhung. Slab and trestle travel separately and bolt together from beneath with the fixings supplied, so an awkward room is no obstacle - nothing in the crate runs past the length of the top. Two people should lift the slab, from beneath rather than by the overhangs. Our main studios are in the UK (Birmingham) and Dubai, with additional global workshops.
A striated slab on a narrow trestle belongs with our acrylic sculptures; brushed-water striations over mirror steel lead to our geometric sculptures, and a bench for a boot room joins our indoor sculptures.

Almost every sculpture at Giant Sculptures is handmade to order, then shipped worldwide free of charge. Below is everything you need to know before you order, and what to expect after.
Almost every sculpture is handmade to order by our artisans — we do not mass-produce.
Production time is separate from delivery time.
Shipping is free worldwide on every sculpture, regardless of size or destination. Standard delivery is by sea freight, typically 6–8 weeks after production is complete.
Express air freight is available on request at additional cost, with delivery in up to 10 days. Ask us before placing your order, or straight after, and we will confirm the cost for your destination.
All sculptures ship in reinforced protective crating, fully insured to purchase value.
Delivery is to the door or curbside at your shipping address.
For larger sculptures shipped by sea freight, the carrier will contact you in advance to arrange a delivery window. Please ensure someone is available to accept the delivery and that the property has suitable access for the size of the piece.
Once the sculpture arrives, you are responsible for positioning it in its final display location. For larger or heavier pieces, we recommend arranging two people (family, friends, or a local moving service) to help with placement.
For orders shipping outside the United Kingdom, any customs duties, import taxes, or local fees at your destination country are the responsibility of the customer. These charges are set by your local authority and are not included in our shipping cost.
If you have questions about customs for your specific country, contact us before ordering and we can advise on typical charges for your region.
Where an order qualifies, we accept returns within 14 days of receipt, in original condition and original packaging, subject to our Terms & Conditions.
Because our sculptures are made individually, most orders do not qualify. Returns do not apply to any item that is not held in stock, is made to order, or is custom or bespoke.
To check whether your order qualifies, contact us within 14 days of receipt. On a qualifying return, return shipping is at the customer's cost, a 25% restocking fee applies, and original shipping charges are not refunded.
Every sculpture ships fully insured. In the unlikely event of damage during transit:
Every sculpture carries a lifetime guarantee against finish defects under normal display conditions, subject to our Terms & Conditions.
This covers manufacturing defects, premature finish degradation, and structural failures under normal display. It does not cover damage caused by accidents, misuse, inappropriate environments (for example, an indoor-only sculpture placed outdoors), or modifications made after delivery.
If you have questions about shipping, customs, delivery timing, or anything else before you order, our team is here to help. Contact us via WhatsApp, email, or phone, and we'll respond within 24 hours.
