Four heavy sheets of clear acrylic make this slender plinth an open box, and the corners are the point of it. Rather than being butted or mitred, each edge is cut into a row of short tabs which interlock with the tabs on the neighbouring sheet, so every vertical corner reads as a shallow flight of steps running from the floor to the top. The box is open at the base and closed by a flush top.
A tabbed corner has to be cut to a fit that is tight enough to leave no line of light at the joint and loose enough to go together at all, and on a sheet this thin the tolerance for that is narrow. Each tab is cut square to the face and the mating slot to the same figure, so the two sheets arrive at a shared plane rather than one standing proud of the other. Because the material is colourless, a corner is the one place where the eye can see the full thickness of two sheets at once, which is why the cut faces are polished to the same clarity as the outer faces rather than left matt. The joint is then bonded from inside, leaving the stepped profile clean on the outside. Tab spacing is set out from the height of the column.
A plinth at 95cm brings a piece up to eye level for someone standing, which suits a hall, a landing, or the corner of a room where a single object is meant to hold attention. Its narrow plan takes a tall slim form comfortably and a wide one not at all, so match the two before ordering. A clear plinth works hardest where there is something behind it worth seeing through to. Set against a busy wall it competes with what it carries, and the stepped corners are lost in the pattern.
Count on the difference between standard and bespoke: 3–4 weeks or 5–6. The same joint can be made on a broader plan. Height can be cut to order, and the tabs can be set at a coarser step for a bolder corner. A tinted sheet is available, and the top can be supplied removable rather than bonded where the plinth is to hold something from inside. The four sheets and the top travel flat and are bonded on arrival, so the plinth comes in as a flat parcel and goes up any stair. One person can manage the parcel. Two are wanted for the assembly, because a bonded corner has to be held square while it sets. Our main studios are in the UK (Birmingham) and Dubai, with additional global workshops.
Corners cut into tabs that read as steps belong with our acrylic sculptures; a slender open column of clear sheet leads to our geometric sculptures, and a stand for one object at the head of a stair joins our indoor sculptures.

Almost every sculpture at Giant Sculptures is handmade to order, then shipped worldwide free of charge. Below is everything you need to know before you order, and what to expect after.
Almost every sculpture is handmade to order by our artisans — we do not mass-produce.
Production time is separate from delivery time.
Shipping is free worldwide on every sculpture, regardless of size or destination. Standard delivery is by sea freight, typically 6–8 weeks after production is complete.
Express air freight is available on request at additional cost, with delivery in up to 10 days. Ask us before placing your order, or straight after, and we will confirm the cost for your destination.
All sculptures ship in reinforced protective crating, fully insured to purchase value.
Delivery is to the door or curbside at your shipping address.
For larger sculptures shipped by sea freight, the carrier will contact you in advance to arrange a delivery window. Please ensure someone is available to accept the delivery and that the property has suitable access for the size of the piece.
Once the sculpture arrives, you are responsible for positioning it in its final display location. For larger or heavier pieces, we recommend arranging two people (family, friends, or a local moving service) to help with placement.
For orders shipping outside the United Kingdom, any customs duties, import taxes, or local fees at your destination country are the responsibility of the customer. These charges are set by your local authority and are not included in our shipping cost.
If you have questions about customs for your specific country, contact us before ordering and we can advise on typical charges for your region.
Where an order qualifies, we accept returns within 14 days of receipt, in original condition and original packaging, subject to our Terms & Conditions.
Because our sculptures are made individually, most orders do not qualify. Returns do not apply to any item that is not held in stock, is made to order, or is custom or bespoke.
To check whether your order qualifies, contact us within 14 days of receipt. On a qualifying return, return shipping is at the customer's cost, a 25% restocking fee applies, and original shipping charges are not refunded.
Every sculpture ships fully insured. In the unlikely event of damage during transit:
Every sculpture carries a lifetime guarantee against finish defects under normal display conditions, subject to our Terms & Conditions.
This covers manufacturing defects, premature finish degradation, and structural failures under normal display. It does not cover damage caused by accidents, misuse, inappropriate environments (for example, an indoor-only sculpture placed outdoors), or modifications made after delivery.
If you have questions about shipping, customs, delivery timing, or anything else before you order, our team is here to help. Contact us via WhatsApp, email, or phone, and we'll respond within 24 hours.
