This cast resin and steel bench has for its seat one deep slab of clear resin with rounded ends and a rippled upper surface, and small orange-red model fish are held inside it at different depths, so they seem to swim through water rather than lie printed on a surface. It stands on two dark steel blades set well in from the ends.
Each fish is positioned by hand and held while the resin comes up around it, so the shoal keeps its depth through the slab instead of settling to one level. The ripple is modelled into the mould face rather than worked in afterwards, so it carries over the edge and returns beneath the lip without a break. Every face is polished, the underside included, because a clear seat is read from below by anyone sitting beside it. The two steel blades are ground and brushed along their length, and both feet are faced flat and set to one plane, since a bench on two blades rocks on an error a four-legged one would absorb.
It suits a hall, a bedroom or a long landing, and the blades are set well in so both ends can be sat on without a foot to catch. The fish are the reason to have it, so it is best lit from overhead: light coming across the seat flattens the shoal into the slab. A plain floor reads up through the resin better than a pattern would.
A standard piece takes 3–4 weeks to make, and a bespoke commission 5–6. Choose three things when you order. The fish count and where they sit are settled at order, the slab is run clear of them where a plain bench is wanted, and the blades are offered blackened as well as brushed. The seat length and the seat height are whatever you specify. Order more than one together and the placing of the fish is matched across them. Crated with the slab ends and the two blade legs protected, it is a two-person lift. Our main studios are in the UK (Birmingham) and Dubai, with additional global workshops.
A shoal held in a clear slab on two dark blades gives our art furniture a bench; the blades relate it to our metal sculptures, and the steel to our stainless steel sculptures.

Almost every sculpture at Giant Sculptures is handmade to order, then shipped worldwide free of charge. Below is everything you need to know before you order, and what to expect after.
Almost every sculpture is handmade to order by our artisans — we do not mass-produce.
Production time is separate from delivery time.
Shipping is free worldwide on every sculpture, regardless of size or destination. Standard delivery is by sea freight, typically 6–8 weeks after production is complete.
Express air freight is available on request at additional cost, with delivery in up to 10 days. Ask us before placing your order, or straight after, and we will confirm the cost for your destination.
All sculptures ship in reinforced protective crating, fully insured to purchase value.
Delivery is to the door or curbside at your shipping address.
For larger sculptures shipped by sea freight, the carrier will contact you in advance to arrange a delivery window. Please ensure someone is available to accept the delivery and that the property has suitable access for the size of the piece.
Once the sculpture arrives, you are responsible for positioning it in its final display location. For larger or heavier pieces, we recommend arranging two people (family, friends, or a local moving service) to help with placement.
For orders shipping outside the United Kingdom, any customs duties, import taxes, or local fees at your destination country are the responsibility of the customer. These charges are set by your local authority and are not included in our shipping cost.
If you have questions about customs for your specific country, contact us before ordering and we can advise on typical charges for your region.
Where an order qualifies, we accept returns within 14 days of receipt, in original condition and original packaging, subject to our Terms & Conditions.
Because our sculptures are made individually, most orders do not qualify. Returns do not apply to any item that is not held in stock, is made to order, or is custom or bespoke.
To check whether your order qualifies, contact us within 14 days of receipt. On a qualifying return, return shipping is at the customer's cost, a 25% restocking fee applies, and original shipping charges are not refunded.
Every sculpture ships fully insured. In the unlikely event of damage during transit:
Every sculpture carries a lifetime guarantee against finish defects under normal display conditions, subject to our Terms & Conditions.
This covers manufacturing defects, premature finish degradation, and structural failures under normal display. It does not cover damage caused by accidents, misuse, inappropriate environments (for example, an indoor-only sculpture placed outdoors), or modifications made after delivery.
If you have questions about shipping, customs, delivery timing, or anything else before you order, our team is here to help. Contact us via WhatsApp, email, or phone, and we'll respond within 24 hours.
