The animal is a small dog, clear and polished with a few flakes of gold caught in it, seated with one forepaw lifted off the ground. What it sits on is not a discreet plinth but a block of clear resin dense with gold leaf, and that block stands nearly as high as the dog does. The two halves of the piece are therefore about equal, and the glittering half is the bottom one.
Making the base as much of the object as the animal changes what the base has to be. A plinth can be plain because nobody looks at it; a block this size is looked at, so its six faces are all finished, its arrises are all dressed, and the leaf inside it is arranged rather than poured in and left. The leaf is scattered through the whole block, so it glitters at every depth and the block has something to look into. The dog is polished all over because a colourless animal on a busy block needs its own brightness to stay separate from it, and the raised paw is cut free of the chest rather than left touching it.
At 29cm this sits on a mantelpiece or a bookshelf, and it is a piece to be looked into rather than at, so it rewards a position within arm's reach. Light from the front or the side gets down into the block and finds the leaf; light from directly above hits the dog and leaves the block flat. A dark surface under it sets off the clear block and makes the gold stand out. It sits well beside the recumbent dog made on the same principle.
The standard build is 3–4 weeks and the bespoke build 5–6. Block depth is set at order, from this near-equal proportion down to a shallow pad, and the leaf can be gold, silver or copper, dense as here or thinned to a few drifts. The block can be left clear as here, or tinted a deep amber, a smoke or near black. The dog takes a tint or a frosted finish in place of the clear polish. This is one animal, and a mirror-image dog can be cut so the two face each other. Scales are cut to order. It arrives as one item, boxed and sleeved, and is a one-person carry taken under the block. Our main studios are in the UK (Birmingham) and Dubai, with additional global workshops.
A small dog seated on a gold-flecked block belongs with our animal sculptures; a raised forepaw cut free of the chest leads to our figurative sculptures, and flakes of gold in clear resin join our resin sculptures.

Almost every sculpture is handmade to order by our artisans — we do not mass-produce.
Production time is separate from delivery time.
Shipping is free worldwide on every sculpture, regardless of size or destination. Standard delivery is by sea freight, typically 6–8 weeks after production is complete.
Express air freight is available on request at additional cost, with delivery in up to 10 days. Ask us before placing your order, or straight after, and we will confirm the cost for your destination.
All sculptures ship in reinforced protective crating, fully insured to purchase value.
Delivery is to the door or curbside at your shipping address.
For larger sculptures shipped by sea freight, the carrier will contact you in advance to arrange a delivery window. Please ensure someone is available to accept the delivery and that the property has suitable access for the size of the piece.
Once the sculpture arrives, you are responsible for positioning it in its final display location. For larger or heavier pieces, we recommend arranging two people (family, friends, or a local moving service) to help with placement.
For orders shipping outside the United Kingdom, any customs duties, import taxes, or local fees at your destination country are the responsibility of the customer. These charges are set by your local authority and are not included in our shipping cost.
If you have questions about customs for your specific country, contact us before ordering and we can advise on typical charges for your region.
Where an order qualifies, we accept returns within 14 days of receipt, in original condition and original packaging, subject to our Terms & Conditions.
Because our sculptures are made individually, most orders do not qualify. Returns do not apply to any item that is not held in stock, is made to order, or is custom or bespoke.
To check whether your order qualifies, contact us within 14 days of receipt. On a qualifying return, return shipping is at the customer's cost, a 25% restocking fee applies, and original shipping charges are not refunded.
Every sculpture ships fully insured. In the unlikely event of damage during transit:
Every sculpture carries a lifetime guarantee against finish defects under normal display conditions, subject to our Terms & Conditions.
This covers manufacturing defects, premature finish degradation, and structural failures under normal display. It does not cover damage caused by accidents, misuse, inappropriate environments (for example, an indoor-only sculpture placed outdoors), or modifications made after delivery.
If you have questions about shipping, customs, delivery timing, or anything else before you order, our team is here to help. Contact us via WhatsApp, email, or phone, and we'll respond within 24 hours.
