Clear Rippled Slab Acrylic Bench on Plate Legs, 140cm, with a rippled clear acrylic seat on silver steel plate legs, shown on a plain white background.
Clear Rippled Slab Acrylic Bench on Plate Legs - 140cm $11,94800
Description

A bench in clear acrylic at an easy sitting height. The seat is a deep slab, and that depth is worked rather than left plain: the whole section is rippled in close horizontal bands, so seen from the end the slab looks like a length of water stopped mid-movement. It stands on two flat steel plates set in from the ends, which leaves the last stretch of the slab unsupported at each end.

A Slab Rippled All the Way Through

The ripple is in the form, not in a film laid over it. The bands stand in the faces themselves and carry on around both ends of the slab, so they belong to its profile rather than to a pattern applied to a flat side. Their spacing tightens where the material cooled first and opens out where it stayed liquid longest, which is why the bands are closer together at the ends of some slabs and closer in the middle of others. The top is ground level and polished, so the ripple reads at the edge and underfoot the seat is flat. The plate legs are cut from solid steel bar, dressed on all four faces and left slightly proud of the slab's underside so the whole weight bears on steel and not on an adhesive line.

Set the legs inboard and the slab appears to run past its own supports, which is worth having where the bench is seen side on - along a wall in a wide hallway, or under a long window. It is a comfortable seat height and low enough to double as a surface in a living room. Its depth is narrow, so it does not crowd a corridor. Keep it clear of a radiator: the ripple is the point of the piece and it shows best in even daylight rather than in heat-shimmer.

Ripple Density, the Inboard Legs, and Delivery

Delivery follows a 3–4 week build as standard, or a 5–6 week build if bespoke. The band spacing can be run coarser or finer, and the slab can be cast to another length on the same section. The legs can be moved out to the ends if you would rather the slab looked supported than cantilevered, and they can be brushed instead of polished. A slab this deep at this length is a solid mass of acrylic and needs careful handling, so allow two people and a clear run in. It travels with the legs off and the fixing holes already tapped, which keeps the crate flat and the assembly to one pass with a spanner. Our main studios are in the UK (Birmingham) and Dubai, with additional global workshops.

A slab rippled like stopped water belongs with our art furniture; banded clear acrylic on inboard plates points to our indoor sculptures, and a long low seat for a living room sits with our contemporary and modern sculptures.

Shipping & Returns

Almost every sculpture at Giant Sculptures is handmade to order, then shipped worldwide free of charge. Below is everything you need to know before you order, and what to expect after.

Production Time

Almost every sculpture is handmade to order by our artisans — we do not mass-produce.

  • Standard sculptures: approximately 3–4 weeks from order confirmation.
  • Bespoke commissions (custom sizes, finishes, or fully custom designs): approximately 5–6 weeks from design sign-off.

Production time is separate from delivery time.

Free Worldwide Shipping

Shipping is free worldwide on every sculpture, regardless of size or destination. Standard delivery is by sea freight, typically 6–8 weeks after production is complete.

Express air freight is available on request at additional cost, with delivery in up to 10 days. Ask us before placing your order, or straight after, and we will confirm the cost for your destination.

All sculptures ship in reinforced protective crating, fully insured to purchase value.

Delivery to Your Address

Delivery is to the door or curbside at your shipping address.

For larger sculptures shipped by sea freight, the carrier will contact you in advance to arrange a delivery window. Please ensure someone is available to accept the delivery and that the property has suitable access for the size of the piece.

Once the sculpture arrives, you are responsible for positioning it in its final display location. For larger or heavier pieces, we recommend arranging two people (family, friends, or a local moving service) to help with placement.

International Orders & Customs

For orders shipping outside the United Kingdom, any customs duties, import taxes, or local fees at your destination country are the responsibility of the customer. These charges are set by your local authority and are not included in our shipping cost.

If you have questions about customs for your specific country, contact us before ordering and we can advise on typical charges for your region.

Returns

Where an order qualifies, we accept returns within 14 days of receipt, in original condition and original packaging, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

Because our sculptures are made individually, most orders do not qualify. Returns do not apply to any item that is not held in stock, is made to order, or is custom or bespoke.

To check whether your order qualifies, contact us within 14 days of receipt. On a qualifying return, return shipping is at the customer's cost, a 25% restocking fee applies, and original shipping charges are not refunded.

Damage in Transit

Every sculpture ships fully insured. In the unlikely event of damage during transit:

  1. Report the damage within 48 hours of delivery.
  2. Provide clear photographs of both the damage and the packaging.
  3. We arrange collection and either replacement or full refund at no cost to you.

Lifetime Guarantee

Every sculpture carries a lifetime guarantee against finish defects under normal display conditions, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

This covers manufacturing defects, premature finish degradation, and structural failures under normal display. It does not cover damage caused by accidents, misuse, inappropriate environments (for example, an indoor-only sculpture placed outdoors), or modifications made after delivery.
