Clear Rippled Resin Bench with Embedded Fish (280cm) on black metal legs, long clear beam with rippled top surface, shown on a plain white background.
Clear Rippled Resin Bench with Embedded Fish - 280cm $35,03600
Description

This bench is one long beam of clear resin, with fish suspended in its depth and a rippled water surface worked along the whole length of its top. Because the beam is clear from face to face, the fish are seen through the depth of the seat and sit at different distances from the eye depending on where you stand, so the piece looks different from each end of a hall.

Fish Suspended Inside a Resin Beam

The fish are at different depths and angles rather than lined up on one plane, which is what keeps the beam from reading as a printed panel. Each is a separate modelled body with fins and tail rather than a silhouette, and the ones nearest the top face are the sharpest while those deep in the beam soften into the resin. The ripple along the upper face is a relief you can feel with a palm rather than a pattern on a flat surface, and it runs the full length without a repeat. The two legs are folded steel plate, set inboard of the ends and let into the underside, so the beam overhangs at both ends. No two benches carry the same arrangement of fish.

Its length belongs to an entrance hall, a hotel lobby, a gallery or the side of a pool, and its low seat is for pausing, changing shoes or waiting rather than for dining. It is a piece people look down into, so it earns its place where they pass close to it rather than across a room. The clear body keeps a corridor open visually, and the fish give it something to hold attention at close range. Indoor use only.

Choosing the Inclusion: Species, Count & Depth

Set aside 3–4 weeks for a standard piece and 5–6 weeks for a bespoke commission. The inclusion is the part of this bench that is specified rather than chosen from stock. Number and species of fish are both set at order, from a handful of large bodies spaced along the run to a dense shoal, and the depth band they occupy can be kept near the top face where they read sharply or spread through the full thickness for a softer effect. Botanical inclusions are made on the same beam in place of fish, and a plain clear beam is available where the ripple alone is wanted. Alternative spans are made to order. Leg finishes are offered in polished, brushed or blackened steel. This is a heavy beam and a four-person lift, and it travels in a purpose-built crate with the legs detached and bolted on site through the underside, so the route matters: we confirm door widths and any turn before despatch, and the beam is carried on edge rather than flat because that is the attitude in which it is stiffest to handle. Our main studios are in the UK (Birmingham) and Dubai, with additional global workshops.

With fish caught in its clear rippled beam, this bench joins our art furniture; the casting belongs equally with our resin sculptures, and the blackened plate legs with our stainless steel sculptures.

Shipping & Returns

Almost every sculpture at Giant Sculptures is handmade to order, then shipped worldwide free of charge. Below is everything you need to know before you order, and what to expect after.

Production Time

Almost every sculpture is handmade to order by our artisans — we do not mass-produce.

  • Standard sculptures: approximately 3–4 weeks from order confirmation.
  • Bespoke commissions (custom sizes, finishes, or fully custom designs): approximately 5–6 weeks from design sign-off.

Production time is separate from delivery time.

Free Worldwide Shipping

Shipping is free worldwide on every sculpture, regardless of size or destination. Standard delivery is by sea freight, typically 6–8 weeks after production is complete.

Express air freight is available on request at additional cost, with delivery in up to 10 days. Ask us before placing your order, or straight after, and we will confirm the cost for your destination.

All sculptures ship in reinforced protective crating, fully insured to purchase value.

Delivery to Your Address

Delivery is to the door or curbside at your shipping address.

For larger sculptures shipped by sea freight, the carrier will contact you in advance to arrange a delivery window. Please ensure someone is available to accept the delivery and that the property has suitable access for the size of the piece.

Once the sculpture arrives, you are responsible for positioning it in its final display location. For larger or heavier pieces, we recommend arranging two people (family, friends, or a local moving service) to help with placement.

International Orders & Customs

For orders shipping outside the United Kingdom, any customs duties, import taxes, or local fees at your destination country are the responsibility of the customer. These charges are set by your local authority and are not included in our shipping cost.

If you have questions about customs for your specific country, contact us before ordering and we can advise on typical charges for your region.

Returns

Where an order qualifies, we accept returns within 14 days of receipt, in original condition and original packaging, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

Because our sculptures are made individually, most orders do not qualify. Returns do not apply to any item that is not held in stock, is made to order, or is custom or bespoke.

To check whether your order qualifies, contact us within 14 days of receipt. On a qualifying return, return shipping is at the customer's cost, a 25% restocking fee applies, and original shipping charges are not refunded.

Damage in Transit

Every sculpture ships fully insured. In the unlikely event of damage during transit:

  1. Report the damage within 48 hours of delivery.
  2. Provide clear photographs of both the damage and the packaging.
  3. We arrange collection and either replacement or full refund at no cost to you.

Lifetime Guarantee

Every sculpture carries a lifetime guarantee against finish defects under normal display conditions, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

This covers manufacturing defects, premature finish degradation, and structural failures under normal display. It does not cover damage caused by accidents, misuse, inappropriate environments (for example, an indoor-only sculpture placed outdoors), or modifications made after delivery.
